The Commission on Sustainable Development

Two years after Rio, the Commission on Sustainable Development is taking shape. The broad terms of its mandate allow for a policy discussion that brings new developments to the forefront and that may assist the world community in taking the road to sustainable development.     

Sustainable Development in Jordan

Sustainable development is a process which aims at establishing a harmonious relationship between man, on the one hand, and environmental and natural resources, on the other, capable of coping with ever-increasing changes and challenges over time. This paper investigates, in a conceptual and qualitative manner, the practices and procedures of sustainable development in Jordan and outlines constraints and difficulties facing Jordan in pursuing such development. The paper concludes with a presentation of some prerequisites for the process in the light of the national objectives and suggests recommendations for future action.

新疆旅游资源丰富多彩且具特色，但由于其特殊的地理位置和当地经济条件，这里的旅游业还不发达。随着西部大开发进程的加速，新疆的生态环境必将受到冲击和影响。如何保障生态环境不遭破坏，又在大力开发旅游资源的条件上寻求可持续发展，对此问题，本文在探讨生态旅游的现状利弊的基础上进行了研究。

本文在介绍加拿大开发生态旅游模式和经验的基础上，对我国生态旅游的发展提出了转变开发模式，科学测定旅游环境生态承载力，建立以政府为主导的旅游机构等具体建议。     

重庆市可持续发展状况分析

构建重庆市可持续发展指标体系,运用层次分析法对重庆市的可持续发展状况进行了评价.通过评价结果分析发现,重庆市在2001年前可持续发展保持较好,而2001年以后经济虽然发展较快,但环境和资源的承载能力下降,可持续发展表现出不和谐.最后就重庆市的可持续发展提出了建议和措施.     

大连市海洋经济协调持续发展研究

文章分析了资源型城市制定可持续发展战略和环境政策的依据和原则,以大庆开发建设多年来的成功经验和失败教训为例,阐释了资源型城市充分利用资源、资金、文化、人才的重要性和必要性,及对生态环境和人文环境充分保护的紧迫性。进而说明:充分利用好城市的各种资源,充分保护好城市的生态环境和人文环境,及早发展替代产业完成城市转型是资源型城市可持续发展的必由之路。
