In this study histological structure of rabbit thymus after bendiocarbamate (2,3-isopropyledene-dioxyphenyl methylcarbamate) administration was studied. Bendiocarbamate was perorally administered for 90 days. At Day 3, 10, 20, 30, 60, 90 morphometric analysis was realized. Quantitative evaluation showed that in the control group thymus cortex forms 57.94 +/- 7.10% and medulla 35.94+/- 7.38%. In almost all experimental groups significantly higher relative volume of cortex and lower relative volume of medulla was detected. Detail morphometric analysis found that the number of thymocytes per constant area and the diameter of tymocytes was decresed after bendiocarbamate administration. The number and diameter of reticular cells was not affected. Results of this study suggest negative effect of bendiocarbamate on the formation of thymus structures.  相似文献

The histological structure of rabbit spleen after bendiocarb administration was studied. Bendiocarb was perorally administered for 30 days. At day 10, 20 and 30 morphometric analysis was realized. Quantitative evaluation showed that in the control group the relative spleen volume of white pulp ranged from 35.03 ± 10.94 % and the relative volume of red pulp 64.97 ± 10.94 %. In all experimental groups were detected significantly higher relative volume of red pulp and the lower relative volume of white pulp, except on day 30. The experimental groups showed a significant increase in the number of lymphocytes in comparison with the control group. On day 10 we observed a significant increase in diameter of investigated lymphocytes. The results of our study determined structural alterations in spleen structure after bendiocarb administration, which probably causes alteration in the immune system.  相似文献

Various pesticides have immuno-suppressive effects, and thus the organisms become responsive to viral, bacterial and parasitic diseases and neoplasm. The aim of the study was to observe the structure of the small intestine (height of enterocytes and crypts), mucosal lymphoid tissue (Payer's patches, lymphocytes in lamina propria) and a lymph node after administration of bendiocarb (2,2-dimethyl-1,3-benzodioxol-4-yl-methylcarbamate) on days 3, 10, 20, 30 and 60 of the experiment. The height of the observed enterocytes showed an increasing tendency. On days 20, 30 and 60 we also observed an increase in diameter of crypts located in intestinal epithelium. The number of cells in lamina propria mucosae was significantly reduced on days 20 and 30 after administration of bendiocarb. Observations of the lymph node showed that on days 10 and 20 there was a significant increase in relative volume of medulla at the expense of the relative volume of the cortex and a decrease in the number of lymphocytes. However, we recorded an increase in diameter of lymphocytes. The intracellular parasite Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) belongs to the most common pathogenic parasites in the world and it can cause serious health complications in pregnant and immunodeficient individuals. DNA isolation, standard polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and visualization in a 2.5 % agarose gel, the presence of DNA T. gondii was detected in no examined rabbit brain samples. Using real time PCR T. gondii DNA was detected and quantified in the three rabbit brain samples (10 %).  相似文献

A TDMA system (Tandem Differential Mobility Analyzer; Rader D.J. and McMurry P.H. J. Aerosol Sci. 17, 771–787, 1986) was used to measure the sensitivity of particle size to relative humidity for monodisperse Los Angeles aerosols. Measurements were made at Claremont, CA on 13 days between 19 June and 3 September 1987, in conjunction with the Southern California Air Quality Study (SCAQS). The particle sizes that were studied ranged from 0.05 μm to 0.5 μm diameter at ambient relative humidity (typically 45–65%).The data provide clear evidence that these atmospheric aerosols were externally mixed. Monodisperse ambient aerosols were often found to split into nonhygroscopic (no water uptake) and hygroscopic portions when humidified. An average of 30% of the particles in the 0.2–0.5 μm range were nonhygroscopic. However, the proportion of the particles that was nonhygroscopic varied considerably from day to day and was, on occasion, as high as 70–80% of the particles. There was no clear evidence for nonhygroscopic 0.05 μm particles, but the data are not definitive on this point.The data also show that for the hydrophilic aerosol fraction, the larger particles (0.4–0.5 μm) grew more when humidified than did smaller particles (0.05–0.2 μm). As relative humidities were increased from 50% to 90%, particle diameters grew by average factors of 1.46 ±0.02 (for 0.5 μm particles), 1.49 ± 0.08 (0.4 μm), 1.19 ± 0.08 (0.2 μm) and 1.12 ± 0.05 (0.05 μm). Similarly, when particles were dried from 50% RH to 6–10% RH, particle diameters changed by factors ranging from 0.94 ± 0.03 (0.5 μm) to 0.98 ± 0.01 (0.05 μm).  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the pollution characteristics of typical veterinary antibiotics in manure and soil of livestock farms in Jiangsu province. This investigation employed solid-phase extraction (SPE) coupled with ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). A total of 53 manure and 50 amended soil samples from 16 livestock farms in Jiangsu province were collected for analysis. In the manure samples, the highest detected frequencies and concentrations were those of tetracyclines (TCs, 54.1 ± 5775.6 μgkg?1), followed by fluoroquinolones (FQs, 8.4 ± 435.6 μgkg?1), sulphonamides (SAs, 3.2 ± 5.2 μgkg?1) and macrolides (MACs, 0.4 ± 110.5 μgkg?1). Statistical analysis was used to illuminate the pollution characteristics of 23 veterinary antibiotics for various animal types and different regions in Jiangsu province. The results showed that the pollution level in cow manure was relatively lower compared with pig and chicken manure due to the relative restriction of medication. Furthermore, contamination was serious in amended soil from chicken farms. The pollution level in manure among different regions was higher to the south and north compared with the centre of the region. The same outcome was found for soil. Antibiotic residues in organic fertilizer were also investigated in this study. We found that although the detected concentration was lower in organic fertilizer than in fresh manure, detection frequencies (10–90%) were high, especially for roxithromycin (90%) in MACs (30–90%). This finding suggests attention should be paid to the pollution levels in organic fertilizer. This study is the first extensive investigation of the occurrence and distribution of many kinds of typical veterinary antibiotics in manure and soil from livestock farms of Jiangsu province. The southeastern aerosol and visibility study (SEAVS) was conducted in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in summer 1995 to investigate variations in ambient aerosol size distributions and their effect on visibility. In this paper, we compare dry aerosol size distribution parameters from a MOUDI impactor and two different optical particle counters (OPCs). Size distributions from the various instruments are expressed in a common measure of size, specifically, optical and aerodynamic diameters are converted to a dry, geometric diameter basis. Comparisons of the real part of particle refractive index obtained directly from light scattering measurements and inferred from aerosol composition measurements are also shown. Real refractive indices from direct measurements and those computed from measured fine aerosol chemical composition were generally within ±0.02. Maximum differences in estimated accumulation mode integrated volume concentrations from all instruments were within ∼22%. Accumulation mode integrated number concentrations and geometric standard deviations from the two OPCs agreed within ∼30% and ∼3%, respectively. Differences between MOUDI- and OPC-derived accumulation mode number concentrations and geometric standard deviations were ∼20% and ∼8%, respectively. The average geometric volume mean diameters derived from the three instruments agreed within 15% or less. The volume median diameters obtained by fitting the CSU number concentration data to a lognormal function were typically the smallest. We show that these discrepancies can be related to the differences and biases in the measurement and data analysis techniques.  相似文献

A novel pipette-tip extractor of a graphene/poly (vinyl alcohol) cryogel (graphene/PVA) composite sorbent was prepared to preconcentrate carbamate pesticides in environmental water samples before analysis with a gas chromatograph-flame ionization detector (GC-FID). This novel pipette-tip extractor with the graphene/PVA sorbent exhibited a high porosity when observed through a scanning electron micrograph (SEM). Under optimal conditions, using only 1.0 mL of sample and 0.75 mL of eluting solvent, the developed method provided a wide linear range of 10–700 ng mL?1 and 10–500 ng mL?1 with limit of detection (LOD) of 6.40 ± 0.18 and 9.17 ± 0.34 ng mL?1 for carbofuran (2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethylbenzofuran-7-yl methylcarbamate) and carbaryl (1-naphthyl methylcarbamate), respectively. The pipette-tip extractor provided high extraction efficiency with high accuracy indicated, by good recoveries in the range of 74.5 ± 4.8% to 119.7 ± 1.6% and 76 ± 15% to 114 ± 19% for carbofuran and carbaryl, respectively. In addition, the fabrication procedure showed a good pipette-tip extractor-to-pipette-tip extractor reproducibility with a relative standard deviation of 1.3–9.8% (n = 5). When the developed pipette-tip extractor was applied for the extraction of carbofuran and carbaryl in surface water samples near vegetable plantation areas, 25.9 ± 8.2 ng mL?1 of carbofuran was found, and carbaryl was also detected in concentrations that ranged from 45.0 ± 4.0 to 191 ± 13 ng mL?1.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to characterize the emissions of a large number of chemical compounds emitted from birch wood combustion in a wood stove. Birch wood is widely used as fuel in Swedish household appliances. The fuel load was held constant during six experiments.Particles <2.5 μm in diameter were collected and the size distribution of the particles was measured. The results were compared to the size distribution in road traffic emissions. It could be seen that the number distribution differed between the sources. In traffic exhaust, the number of particles maximized at 20 nm, while the number distribution from wood burning ranged from 20 to 300 nm. The ratio K/Ca on particles was found to be significantly different in wood burning compared to road dust, range 30–330 for the former and 0.8±0.15 for the latter. The source profile of common elements emitted from wood burning differed from that found on particles at a street-level site or in long-distance transported particles.The ratio toluene/benzene in this study was found to be in the range 0.2–0.7, which is much lower than the ratio 3.6±0.5 in traffic exhaust emissions.Formaldehyde and acetone were the most abundant compounds among the volatile ketones and aldehydes. The emission factor varied between 180–710 mg/kg wood for formaldehyde and 5–1300 mg/kg wood for acetone. Of the organic acids analyzed (3,4,5)-trimethoxy benzoic acid was the most abundant compound. Of the PAHs reported, fluorene, phenanthrene, anthracene, fluoranthene and pyrene contribute to more than 70% of the mass of PAH. Of the elements analyzed, K and Si were the most abundant elements, having emission factors of 27 and 9 mg/kg wood, respectively.Although fluoranthene has a toxic equivalence factor of 5% of benzo(a)pyrene (B(a)P), it can be seen that the toxic potency of fluoranthene in wood burning emissions is of the same size as B(a)P. This indicates that the relative carcinogenic potency contribution of fluoranthene in wood smoke would be about 40% of B(a)P.  相似文献

Although the use of tributyltin in antifouling paints has been banned, this compound is still a serious pollutant of the marine environment. This paper describes a unique study in which European flounder (Platichthys flesus) were chronically (8 months) exposed to bis(tri-n-butyltin)oxide (TBTO) in the water under controlled laboratory conditions. Residue levels in selected tissues (liver, muscle) and general health status indices were measured and the effects on several organs (gills, liver, mesonephros, ovary/testis, spleen, and gastrointestinal tract) were examined histopathologically. Additionally, morphometric analysis of the thymus was performed. The major finding is that exposure of flounder to 5 μg TBTO/l over a period of 8 months, resulting in body burdens comparable to high field levels, induced significant reduction of thymus volume, possibly affecting immunocompetence of the animals. Chronic exposure of European flounder to tributyltin is therefore likely to affect the general health status of this species in heavily polluted aquatic environments.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to study the pharmacokinetic behavior and the inhibitory effect of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) activities of chlorpyrifos (CPF) in steer cattle after pour-on administration. Determination of cholinesterase activity in plasma and erythrocyte was carried out according to Ellman kinetic method. CPF was analyzed by gas chromatography. AChE was the predominant form of cholinesterase analyzed, with low levels of BChE in plasma. Following the treatment with CPF, the maximum inhibitory effect on AChE or BChE were 50.88 ± 11.57 and 42.66 ± 12.01%, respectively. The chlorpyrifos plasma concentrations observed were low and they presented a high variability. Chlorpyrifos peak plasma concentration (10.42 ± 4.76 μ g/L) was reached at 8.42 ± 13.97 h. The pesticide was not detected in plasma after 48 h post treatment. The values of area under the curve (AUC) were 118.48 ± 87.46 μ g· h/L and mean resistance time (MRT) were 13.38 ± 10.41 h. The pour-on exposure to the organophosphate chlorpyrifos significantly reduced AChE and BChE activity in steer cattle and the recovery was not reached on 50 days post-treatment.  相似文献

The formation and growth of aerosol particles of dilute sulfuric acid produced by photochemical oxidation of SO2 (0.05–10 ppm. by volume) in purified air has been studied qualitatively in laboratory apparatus. The number of particles formed is strongly dependent on SO2 concentration, relative humidity (< 10–80%) and u.v. light intensity. The number concentration increases rapidly to a maximum within a few minutes after the start of irradiation and then decreases slowly during the next 10 min. Particle size increases with irradiation time and is dependent on SO2 concentration, and on relative humidity when the SO2 concentration is less than 0.1 ppm. In the conditions employed the volumetric rate of formation of particles ranged from 0.15 to 18.7μm3 cm−3. The overall quantum yield of photochemical reaction was 8 × 10−3. The oxidation rate was 0.04% h−1: extrapolation of this rate to noonday sunlight in summer at latitude 35°N gives 0.7% h−1.  相似文献

Theoretical estimates of sulfate removal by precipitation have assumed that 40–100 % of available clear-air sulfate is scavenged in-cloud. In an experiment performed in an air mass with < 1 μg m−3 sulfate, particulate matter of diameter D < 3 μm was collected to afford 1-h increment data analysis for sulfur and soil (here, a composite of Al, Ca, Fe, Si, K and Ti) by PIXE analysis. Optical particle spectrometer probes were used to determine number and mass distributions of aerosol and cloud droplets in a diameter range 0.09 < D < 23.5 μm. Two in-cloud studies, one 9 h and one 6 h long, show removal efficiencies (by mass) of 80–98% of sulfur and of 35–77% of the soil aerosol. During the first (stratus) cloud event, the total accumulation-mode mass was reduced < 90%. Nucleation scavenging, according to classical closed-parcel cloud microphysics theory, appears to be the dominant mechanism by which precipitation sulfate was formed in this background air mass.  相似文献

Measurements of resuspension into air in the coarse particle range (>10 μm in aerodynamic diameter) were performed as part of a field measurement experiment at four sites around Chernobyl during wind-driven and anthropogenic enhanced resuspension (agricultural activities). Caesium-137 was used to quantify the magnitude of resuspension. The mean resuspension factor of coarse particles was between 1×10-10 and 6×10-10 m-1 for wind-driven resuspension. During agricultural activities, the resuspension increased by up to three orders of magnitude. Coarse particles comprised about one-third of the total amount of resuspended Caesium-137. The activity size distribution of Caesium-137 was not uniform in the coarse particle range: approximately 44% of the activity was found in the range 10–20 μm aerodynamic diameter. The determination of the number concentration of particles >20 μm aerodynamic diameter showed a linear relation between particle number and activity: the mean activity per particle was 0.75±0.15 μBq at the site Novozybkov, Russia. The resuspension factor was found to decrease exponentially with increasing relative soil moisture content. At higher soil humidity, the portion of coarse particles of the total resuspended activity was larger.  相似文献

We investigated the toxicity of the widely used herbicide dimethylammonium salt of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (DMA-2,4-D) on the lymphoid system of rats after a single dose oral administration using histological, cytochemical and molecular methods. DMA-2,4-D destroyed in a dose- and time-dependent manner the vascular integrity of the thymus and caused cell depletion in the white pulp of the spleen and in the cortex of the thymus, which was at least partly due to programmed cell death. DMA-2,4-D appeared to have hemolytic activity and caused intravascular hemolysis of erythrocytes. An increased hemosiderin content in macrophages of the spleen indicated phagocytosis of lysed erythrocytes. We conclude that acute DMA-2,4-D herbicide poisoning results in severe damage of the lymphatic organs thymus and spleen.  相似文献

In this study, we report sulfate content measurements of eighty snow samples collected in East Antarctica. Stringent contamination free techniques were used both for sampling and analysis (ionometric titration with a lead selective electrode after preconcentration). Sulfate concentrations (range: 50–100.10−9 g g−1, accuracy ±10%) do not show large variations along a 1100 km coast interior axis, if we except a narrow coastal area. The analysis of well dated snow samples (time range: 1950–1975) collected at South Pole Station and Dome C (124°E, 75°S) suggest a main marine contribution for the sulfate content, to which are added sporadic stratospheric injections linked with major volcanic events, such as Mt. Agung (1963), whose eruption is clearly recorded. There is no evident anthropogenic contribution to the measured values.  相似文献

The wastewater discharged from leather industries lack biodegradability due to the presence of xenobiotic compounds. The primary clarification and aerobic treatment in Bacillus sp. immobilized Chemo Autotrophic Activated Carbon Oxidation (CAACO) reactor removed considerable amount of pollution parameters. The residual untreated organics in the wastewater was further treated in algal batch reactor inoculated with Synechocystis sp. Sodium nitrate, K2HPO4, MgSO4.7H2O, NH4Cl, CaCl2·2H2O, FeCl3 (anhydrous), and thiamine hydrochloride, rice husk based activated carbon (RHAC), immobilization of Bacillus sp. in mesoporous activated carbon, sand filter of dimensions diameter, 6 cm and height, 30 cm; and the CAACO reactor of dimensions diameter, 5.5 cm and height, 30 cm with total volume 720 ml, and working volume of 356 ml. In the present investigation, the CAACO treated tannery wastewater was applied to Synechocystis sp. inoculated algal batch reactor of hydraulic residence time 24 h. The BOD5, COD, and TOC of treated wastewater from algal batch reactor were 20?±?7, 167?±?29, and 78?±?16 mg/l respectively. The integrated CAACO system and Algal batch reactor was operated for 30 days and they accomplished a cumulative removal of BOD5,COD, TOC, VFA and sulphide as 98 %, 95 %, 93 %, 86 %, and 100 %, respectively. The biokinetic constants for the growth of algae in the batch reactor were specific growth rate, 0.095(day?1) and yield coefficient, 3.15 mg of algal biomass/mg of COD destructed. The degradation of xenobiotic compounds in the algal batch reactor was confirmed through HPLC and FT-IR techniques. The integrated CAACO–Algal reactor system established a credible reduction in pollution parameters in the tannery wastewater. The removal mechanism is mainly due to co-metabolism between algae and bacterial species and the organics were completely metabolized rather than by adsorption.  相似文献

As the host city of the 2008 Olympic games, Beijing implemented a series of air pollution control measures before and during the Olympic games. Ambient formaldehyde (HCHO) concentrations were measured using a fluorometric instrument based on a diffusion scrubber and the Hantzsch reaction; hydrocarbons were simultaneously measured using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). Meteorological parameters, CO, O3, and NO2 concentrations were measured by standard commercial instrumentation. In four separate periods: (a) before the vehicle plate number control (3–19 July); (b) during the Olympic Games (8–24 August); (c) during the Paralympic Games (6–17 September) and (d) after the vehicle control was ceased (21–28 September), the average HCHO mixing ratios were 7.31 ± 2.67 ppbv, 5.54 ± 2.41 ppbv, 8.72 ± 2.48 ppbv, and 6.42 ± 2.79 ppbv, while the total non-methane hydrocarbons (NMHCs) measured were 30.41 ± 18.08 ppbv, 18.12 ± 9.38 ppbv, 30.50 ± 13.37 ppbv, and 33.33 ± 15.85 ppbv, respectively. Both HCHO and NMHC levels were the lowest during the Olympic games, and increased again during the Paralympic games even with the same vehicle control measures operative. Similar diurnal HCHO and O3 patterns indicated that photo-oxidation of NMHCs may be the major source of HCHO. The diurnal profile of total NMHCs was very similar to that of NO2 and CO: morning and evening peaks appeared in rush hours, indicating even after strict vehicle control, automobile emission may still be the dominant source of the HCHO precursors. The contributions of HCHO, alkanes, alkenes, and aromatics to OH loss rates were also calculated. HCHO contributed 22 ± 3% to the total VOCs and 24 ± 1% to the total OH loss rate. HCHO was not only important in term of abundance, but also important in chemical reactivity in the air.  相似文献

The distribution of ambient air n-alkanes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) associated to particles with aerodynamic diameters lesser than 10 μm (PM10) into six fractions (five stages and a backup filter) was studied for the first time in Algeria. Investigation took place during September of 2007 at an urban and industrial site of Algiers. Size-resolved samples (<0.49, 0.49–0.95, 0.95–1.5, 1.5–3.0, 3.0–7.2, and7.2–10 μm) were concurrently collected at the two sampling sites using five-stage high-volume cascade impactors. Most of n-alkanes (~72 %) and PAHs (~90 %) were associated with fine particles ≤1.5 μm in both urban and industrial atmosphere. In both cases, the n-alkane contents exhibited bimodal or weakly bimodal distribution peaking at the 0.95–1.5-μm size range within the fine mode and at 7.3–10 μm in the coarse mode. Low molecular weight PAHs displayed bimodal patterns peaking at 0.49–0.95 and 7.3–10 μm, while high molecular weight PAHs exhibited mono-modal distribution with maximum in the <0.49-μm fraction. While the mass mean diameter of total n-alkanes in the urban and industrial sites was 0.70 and 0.84 μm, respectively, it did not exceed 0.49 μm for PAHs. Carbon preference index (~1.1), wax% (10.1–12.8), and the diagnostic ratios for PAHs all revealed that vehicular emission was the major source of these organic compounds in PM10 during the study periods and that the contribution of epicuticular waxes emitted by terrestrial plants was minor. According to benzo[a]pyrene-equivalent carcinogenic power rates, ca. 90 % of overall PAH toxicity across PM10 was found in particles ≤0.95 μm in diameter which could induce adverse health effects to the population living in these areas.  相似文献

Group-selective magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIPs) that can extract four widely used sulfonamide antibiotics and their acetylated metabolites from environmental water were synthesized in this study. The MMIPs with saturation magnetization value of 16.7 emu g-1 could be separated from the environmental water samples easily by the application of an adscititious magnetic field, reducing the time consumption of pretreatment. The extraction conditions were evaluated, and optimal extraction conditions were as follows: extraction time, 25 min; amount of polymers, 90 mg; washing solvent, 30 % methanol aqueous solution; and elution solvent, methanol–acetic acid (95:5, v/v). The target analytes were detected by liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry, and the detection limits of the method are in the range of 0.38–1.32 ng L-1. The relative standard deviations of intra- and inter-day are in the range of 1.3–6.8 % and 1.7–9.1 %, respectively. The proposed method is suitable for the analysis of environmental water samples.  相似文献

Overnight aging experiments with diesel engine exhaust from a diesel power aggregate, with no or 9 kW load, and from a diesel-fueled vehicle were conducted in an environmental chamber. During a 24 h aging period the volatilities of monodisperse particles at 140, 250 and 360 °C heater temperatures were analyzed with volatility tandem differential mobility analysis (VTDMA). The particulate organic to total carbon ratio and organic carbon subfractions at 120, 250, 450 and 550 °C were analyzed with thermal-optical carbon analysis for samples from fresh, 8 or 18 h aged and 24 h aged aerosol. During the experiment also the particle size distribution, ozone and nitrogen oxide concentration, and temperature, relative humidity and total solar and total ultraviolet radiation in the chamber were monitored.After injection, the geometric mean diameter and number concentration of the particles in the chamber were 66–85 nm and 0.9–4.6×105 cm−3, respectively. The particles were seen to grow fast, at a growth rate of 18–47 nm h−1 during the first hour. The fresh particles from the diesel power aggregate contained 37–45% of apparent volume semi-volatile compounds with no load and 10–24% with 9 kW load. The semi-volatile apparent volume fraction at 360 °C for 50 nm particles produced by the diesel power aggregate was 57%. After 24 h of aging, the semi-volatile apparent volume fraction at 360 °C for 100 nm particles was 99%.
