The larvicide activity of the experimental preparation SAN 402 I WDC containing B. Thuringiensis var. Israelensis and that of Abate 500 E (44 % temephos) were tested on the larvae of Aedes aegypti. The studies were performed on the following media: distilled water, pure and buffered at pH 9, 7 and 4 and pond water whether or not free from materials in suspension. The activity of both preparations is not influenced by the composition of the media, exception made for the presence of materials in suspension. The persistance varies according to the kind of the media and the concentration level. It is in general rather low. Both preparations behave rather similar, the microbial insecticide however is more influenced by the presence of materials in suspension.  相似文献

Abstract

Two pyrethroid insecticides were compared with two fungicides for their effects on the rhizobial and seedling components of the N2‐fixing symbiosis in soybeans (Glycine max Merr. variety Olinda). In vitro growth of Rhizobium japonicum RI16, was inhibited in the order of HgCl2 > thiram > cypermethrin > permethrin. The emergence of the seedlings was stimulated by all chemicals tested. Also, none of the pesticides studied had any significant effect on N2 fixation (acetylene reduction), at the dosages used. Consequently, yields of the various organs were also not significantly influenced by the chemicals.  相似文献

Abstract

The present study was undertaken to investigate the influence of biotic (snail size and presence of food during the test) and abiotic factors (temperature, water hardness and concentration of organic materials) on the molluscicidal activity of Euphorbia milii latex. Bioassays were conducted with B. glabrata (10 snails per concentration) and snail lethality was evaluated after 24 hr and 48 hr of exposure to lyophilized latex solutions. Neither the degree of water hardness, nor the presence of food during the test affected latex‐induced snail mortality. The snail size had a minor influence on E.milii‐induced snail lethality. Newly‐hatched (shell diameter ≤ 1mm) as well as young (3–8 mm) snails were slightly less susceptible than older (10–25 mm) mollusks. On the other hand, the molluscicidal effect of E.milii latex was modified by environmental factors such as temperature (i.e. LC50 and LC90 values were halved for every 10°C rise in temperature) and concentration of organic materials in the water (i.e. the higher the concentration of organic matter, the higher the LC50 value). The efficacy of E.milii latex as a molluscicide can be modified by factors such as water temperature and concentration of organic materials, and to a lesser extent by snail size.  相似文献

Abstract The in vivo effects of sublethal concentrations of deltamethrin (DM), a pyrethroid insecticide, on the hepatic microsomal cytochrome P450 (Cyt P450) content and the Cyt P450‐dependent monooxygenase activities (para‐nitrophenetole‐O‐deethylase, pNPOD; aminopyrene‐N‐demethylase, APND; ethylmorphine‐N‐demethylase, EMND; 7‐ethoxycoumarin‐O‐deethylase, ECOD; and ethoxyresorufin‐O‐deethylase, EROD) were examined in adult carp (Cyprinus carpió L.).

0.2 μg/1 DM treatment resulted in significant increases in APND, EMND and ECOD activities, whereas 2 μg/1 DM resulted in significant inhibitions of all studied isoenzyme activities with the exceptions of pNPOD and APND after 72 h. EROD was the only enzyme for which a slight increase in activity was observed. On repeated treatment, Cyt P450 could not be detected after 48 h, but the Cyt P420 level increased. All tested isoenzyme activities were inhibited, with the exception ofthat of EROD, which was enhanced.

All these changes in enzyme activities and Cyt P450 content demonstrate the effects of DM on fish. DM treatment at low concentration is presumed to cause induction of the Cyt P450‐dependent monooxygenases which may lead to faster metabolization of the insecticide. In contrast, DM at higher concentration strongly inhibited the activities of the studied enzymes. This finding may be due to the damaging effect of DM on the xenobiotic metabolizing enzyme systems offish.  相似文献

There is increasing demand for new products for vegetable pest management. Thus, the aim of this study was to assess the toxicity of pyrethroids with acid moiety modifications to measure the insecticidal activity of these compounds on the lepidopteran vegetable pests Diaphania hyalinata (L.) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) and Asciamonuste (Latreille) (Lepidoptera: Pieridae) and evaluate their selectivity for the predatory ant Solenopsis saevissima (F. Smith) (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) and pollinator Tetragonisca angustula (Latreille) (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Meliponinae). Racemic mixtures of five new pyrethroids (30 µg molecule mg?1 insect body weight) resulted in high (100%) and rapid (stable LD50 after 12 h) mortality in D. hyalinata and A. monuste. In A. monuste, the trans-pyrethroid [12] isomer showed similar toxicity to permethrin. For D. hyalinata, the trans-pyrethroid [9] isomer and cis-pyrethroid [10] isomer were as toxic as permethrin. Due to their low selectivity, these new pyrethroids should be applied on the basis of ecological selectivity principles to minimize impacts on nontarget organisms S. saevissima and T. angustula.  相似文献

Abstract

The growth and total carbohydrate contents of Nostoc muscorum and Tolypothrix tenuis were greatly and significantly reduced by the application of parathion. “Chlorophyll a”, carotene biosynthesis and the rate of glucose absorption were enhanced after supplementation of parathion to the culture media of both cyanobacteria. Nitrogen released to the media, total nitrogen content and total nitrogen fixed were increased in both organisms‐ Increase in protein content was accompanied by remarkable drop in amino, peptide and ammonia fractions‐ Phosphorus uptake, RNA, DNA and total phosphorus content were accelerated to reach maximum accumulation at the highest insecticide level. In metabolism study using 14C‐labelled compound, parathion was readily degraded by Nostoc and Tolypothrix. Following ten days incubation, the aqueous fractions contained 21.1% and 18.1% of the initial activity in Nostoc and Tolypothrix respectively. TLC analysis of the hydrolytic products revealed the presence of three metabolites: p‐aminophenol, p‐nitrophenol and aminoparathion.  相似文献

The degradation of metribuzin [4-amino-6-tert-butyl-3-methylthio-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one] as influenced by soil type, temperature, humidity, organic fertilizers, soil sterilization, and ultra-violet radiation was studied in two soil types of Lebanon under laboratory conditions. The two soil types were sandy loam and clay. Deamination of metribuzin in the sandy loam soil to its deaminometribuzin (DA) derivative was basically a result of biological activity. In the clay soil the first metabolite diketometribuzin (DK) was a result of oxidative desulfuration, while diketo-deaminometribuzin (DADK) was the product of reductive deamination. The two soils represented major differences in the pesticide transformation processes. Photodecomposition on the soil surface and in aqueous media was also an important process in the degradation of metribuzin. Furthermore, the increase in soil organic matter enhanced degradation.  相似文献

Abstract

The effect of the herbicide Dicuran 500 FL (formulated product) on the phenotypical and genotypical changes in procaryotic and eucaryotic organisms was investigated using short‐term tests for detecting genotoxins. Since pesticides discharged in the water environment can modulate the mixed‐function monooxygenases (MFO) detoxification system of water organisms, the in vivo and in vitro effects of Dicuran on hepatic cytochrome P450 (cyt P450) monooxygenase activities were also examined in juvenile carp (Cyprinus carpio L.). By measuring the activities of MFO in experimental carp exposed to Dicuran an attempt was made to establish whether Dicuran could be bioactivated by MFO into ultimate mutagens. Our results on the bacterial strains Salmonella typhimurium TA100 and TA98 show that Dicuran does not possess either mutagenic or premutagenic characteristics. The micronucleus test on the erythrocytes of experimental carp did not establish any clastogenic effect either. However, Dicuran significantly inhibited the MFO activity of 7‐ethoxyresorufin‐O‐deethylase (EROD) and benzo[a]pyrene monooxygenase (BaPMO) in the liver of experimental carp in vitro, as well as in in vivo conditions. These findings demonstrate the potentially damaging effect of Dicuran on the xenobiotic metabolizing enzyme systems of fish, and suggest the applicability of described methods for the prediction of the ecotoxicological significance of the presence of pesticides in the water environment.  相似文献

Abstract

This study investigated the toxicity of various concentrations of technical resmethrin and Scourge® on adult and larval Palaemonetes pugio, a common grass shrimp species. Two types of tests were conducted for each of the resmethrin formulations using adult and larval grass shrimp life stages, a 96-h static renewal aqueous test without sediment, and a 24-h static nonrenewal aqueous test with sediment. For resmethrin, the 96-h aqueous LC50 value for adult shrimp was 0.53 μg/L (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.46–0.60 μg/L), and for larval shrimp was 0.35 μg/L (95% CI: 0.28–0.42 μg/L). In the presence of sediment, technical resmethrin produced a 24-h LC50 value for adult shrimp of 5.44 μg/L (95% CI: 4.52–6.55 μg/L), and for larval shrimp of 2.15 μg/L (95% CI: 1.35–3.43 μg/L). For Scourge®, the 96-h aqueous LC50 for adult shrimp was 2.08 μg/L (95% CI: 1.70–2.54 μg/L), and for larval shrimp was 0.36 μg/L (95% CI: 0.24–0.55 μg/L). The 24-h sediment test yielded an LC50 value of 16.12 μg/L (95% CI: 14.79–17.57 μg/L) for adult shrimp, and 14.16 μg/L (95% CI: 12.21–16.43 μg/L) for larvae. Adjusted LC50 values to reflect the 18% resmethrin concentration in Scourge® are 0.37 μg/L (adult), 0.07 μg/L (larvae) for the 96-h aqueous test, and 2.90 μg/L (adult), 2.6 μg/L (larvae) for the 24-h sediment test. Larval grass shrimp were more sensitive to technical resmethrin and Scourge® than the adult life stage. The results also demonstrate that synergized resmethrin is more toxic to P. pugio than the nonsynergized form, and that the presence of sediment decreases the toxicity of both resmethrin and Scourge®  相似文献

Fluopyram is a novel broad-spectrum fungicide with nematocidal activity, and as an extensively used pesticide, it could cause toxicity in nontarget organisms. The aim of this study was to explore the efficiency of five horizontal subsurface flow (HSF) constructed wetlands (CWs) to remove fluopyram from rinsing water produced during the cleaning of pesticide spraying equipment. Four CWs, namely WG-R, WG-R-P, WG-C, and WG-U, contained fine gravel as porous media. WG-R and WG-R-P were planted with Phragmites australis, WG-C with Typha latifolia, and WG-U was left unplanted. Bioaugmentation with plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria was conducted in WG-R-P unit. The fifth unit (WGZ-R) planted with Phragmites australis and contained gravel and zeolite as porous media. All of CWs were loaded on a daily basis from December 2019 to January 2021 with water fortified with fluopyram. The removal rate follows the pattern of WG-R-P (70.67%) > WGZ-R (62.06%) > WG-C (59.98%) > WG-R (36.10%) > WG-U (25.09%). The most important parameters affecting the fluopyram removal were bioaugmentation, zeolite presence in porous media, and plant species. The WG-R-P unit showed higher fluopyram removal in comparison to the WG-R (increase about 96%), the zeolite increased the fluopyram removal by 72%, and the WG-C unit showed 66% higher fluopyram removal than the WG-R unit.

Land application of biosolids from processed sewage sludge may deteriorate soil, water, and plants. We investigated the impact of the N-Viro biosolids land-application on the quality of the soil water that moved through Orthic Humo-Ferric Podzols soil of Nova Scotia (NS) at the Wild Blueberry Research Institute, Debert, NS Canada. In addition, the response of major soilproperties and crop yield was also studied. Wild blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium. Ait) was grown under irrigated and rainfed conditions in 2008 and 2009. Four experimental treatments including (i) NI: N-Viro irrigated, (ii) NR: N-Viro rainfed, (iii) FI: inorganic fertilizer irrigated, and (iv) FR: inorganic fertilizer rainfed (control) were replicated 4 times under randomized complete block design. Soil samples were collected at the end of each year and analyzed for changes in cation exchange capacity (CEC), soil organic matter (SOM), and pH.Soil water samples were collected four times during the study period from the suction cup lysimeters installed within and below crop root zone at 20 and 40 cm depths, respectively. The samples were analyzed for a range of water quality parameters including conductance, hardness, pH, macro- and micronutrients, and the infectious pathogens Escherichia coli (E. coli) and salmonella. Berries were harvested for fruit yield estimates. Irrigation significantly increased CEC during 2008 and the soil pH decreased from 4.93 (2008) to 4.79 (2009). There were significant influences of irrigation, fertilizer, and their interaction, in some cases, on most of the soil water quality parameters except on the infectious bacteria. No presence of E. coli or salmonella were observed in soil and water samples, reflecting the absence of these bacteria in biosolids used in this experiment. Nutrient concentration in the soil water samples collected from the four treatments were higher in the sequence NI > NR > FI > FR. The irrigation treatment had significant effect on the unripe fruit yield. We conclude that the comparable performance of N-Viro biosolids and the increasing prices of inorganic fertilizers would compel farmers to use economically available N-Viro biosolids that, coupled with the supplemental irrigation, did not deteriorate the studied soil properties, soil water quality, and the wild blueberry yield during this experiment.  相似文献

Abstract

Virulence expression of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium under iron limited condition was measured by β-galactosidase (β-gal) assay using a hilA-lacZY fusion strain and calculated as Miller units. hilA-lacZY β-galactosidase assays were performed in brain heart infusion (BHI) and minimal media (M9), after iron chelation with 2, 2-dipridyl and iron-supplementation respectively. Before performing virulence assays, concentrations of iron in the media were estimated using ferrozine. Iron content was found to be more in BHI (42.6 µg dL?1) as compared to M9 (10.03 µg dL?1). β-gal activity of Salmonella Typhimurium in BHI was generally less than that observed in M9. After exposure to various combinations of iron chelator in BHI, hilA-lacZY activity only increased at the highest concentration of chelator (200 µM) but decreased in M9 media for all iron concentrations when compared to controls with no iron amendment. These results indicate that iron availability may influence S. Typhimurium hilA expression.  相似文献

Novel photo-Fenton catalysts were prepared by immobilizing iron species on commercial bentonite plates via two methods: (1) ion exchange reaction (Fe3+ vs. Na+) by aqueous suspension powder-clay/FeCl3 followed by plate preparation, and (2) forced hydrolysis of Fe(NO3)3 onto a prefabricated clay plate. The last method led to a more photo-active Fe-oxide/bentonite plate. This material allowed, at a non-adjusted initial pH of 5.5 and in the presence of H2O2, the total degradation of resorcinol and 55% mineralization in 80 and 100 min of irradiation, respectively. The reached degradation percentages were correlated to the presence of dissolved iron, demonstrating that in these processes, the homogeneous photo-Fenton reactions were mainly responsible for the resorcinol elimination.Likewise, in slurry system, where clay has normally an increased surface area, there was no increase in activity because of a reduced leached iron probably due to the diminished light penetration in the suspension. Despite the lower surface area, in comparison to that of the slurry, the clay plates have the advantage, as heterogeneous photo-catalysts, that separation of the reaction media after treatment is not needed, and thus, a potential use for batch and continuous reaction systems is proposed.  相似文献

Water quality deterioration is a prominent issue threatening water security worldwide. As the largest river in China, the Yangtze River Basin is facing severe water pollution due to intense human activities. Analyzing water quality trends and identifying the corresponding driver factors are important components of sustainable water quality management. Thus, spatiotemporal characteristics of the water quality from 2008 to 2020 were analyzed by using a Mann–Kendall test and rescaled range analysis (R/S). In addition, multi-statistical analyses were used to determine the main driving factors of variation in the permanganate index (CODMn), ammonia nitrogen (NH3–N) concentration, and total phosphorus (TP) concentration. The results showed that the mean concentrations of NH3–N and TP decreased from 0.31 to 0.16 mg/L and 0.16 to 0.07 mg/L, respectively, from 2008 to 2020, indicating that the water quality improved during this period. However, the concentration of CODMn did not reduce remarkably. Based on R/S analysis, the NH3–N concentration was predicted to continue to decrease from 2020 to 2033, whereas the CODMn concentration was forecast to increase, highlighting an issue of great concern. In terms of spatial distribution, water quality in the upstream was better than that of the mid-downstream. Multi-statistical analyses revealed that the temporal variation in water quality was predominantly influenced by tertiary industry (TI), the nitrogen fertilizer application rate (N-FAR), the phosphate fertilizer application rate (P-FAR), and the irrigation area of arable land (IAAL), with contribution rates of 15.92%, 14.65%, 3.46%, and 2.84%, respectively. The spatial distribution of CODMn was mainly influenced by TI, whereas that of TP was primarily determined by anthropogenic activity factors (e.g., N-FAR, P-FAR). This study provides deep insight into water quality evolution in the Yangtze River Basin that can guide water quality management in this region.

The effect of six glyphosate concentrations on growth rate and aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) production by Aspergillus section Flavi strains under different water activity (aW) on maize-based medium was investigated. In general, the lag phase decreased as glyphosate concentration increased and all the strains showed the same behavior at the different conditions tested. The glyphosate increased significantly the growth of all Aspergillus section Flavi strains in different percentages with respect to control depending on pesticide concentration. At 5.0 and 10 mM this fact was more evident; however significant differences between both concentrations were not observed in most strains. Aflatoxin B1 production did not show noticeable differences among different pesticide concentrations assayed at all aW in both strains. This study has shown that these Aspergillus flavus and A. parasiticus strains are able to grow effectively and produce aflatoxins in high nutrient status media over a range of glyphosate concentrations under different water activity conditions.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

A lab-scale study was conducted to determine the rate and extent of decomposition of three biofilter media materials—compost, hog fuel, and a mixture of the two in 1:1 ratio—used in biofiltration applied to removal of reduced sulfur odorous compounds from pulp mill air emissions. The rate of carbon mineralization, as a measure of biofilter media degradation, was determined by monitoring respiratory CO2 evolution and measuring the changes in carbon and nitrogen fractions of the biofilter materials over a period of 127 days. Both ambient air and air containing reduced sulfur (RS) compounds were used, and the results were compared. After 127 days of incubation with ambient air, about 17% of the media carbon was evolved as CO2 from compost as compared to 6 and 12% from hog fuel and the mixture, respectively. The decomposition showed sequential breakdown of carbon moieties, and three distinct stages were observed for each of the biofilter media. First-order rate kinetics were used to describe the decomposition stages. Decomposition rates in the initial stages were at least twice those of the following stages. Carbon mineralization showed close dependence on the C/N ratio of the biofilter material. Media decomposition was enhanced in the presence of RS gases as a result of increased bioactivity by sulfur-oxidizing bacteria and other microorganisms, thus reducing the media half-life by more than 50%. At higher concentrations of RS gases, the CO2 evolution rates were proportionally lower than those at the low concentrations because of the limited acid buffering capacity of the biofilter materials.  相似文献

The lack of water is the most serious threat to humanity that leads to more efficient water and sewage treatment. Currently, many scientists are looking for new coagulants, flocculants and physicochemical methods allowing for sufficient removal of pollutants from water. The presence of various types of pigments, including chromium (III) oxide, poses the major problem. Even small amounts of these substances inhibit life processes in water. In this paper, the stability of Cr2O3 suspension in the absence and the presence of polyacrylic acid (PAA) was determined. To explain the changes in the system stability, the adsorption and electrokinetic measurements were performed. The chromium (III) oxide suspension not containing PAA is the most stable at pH?=?3. Under these conditions, each positively charged solid particle is surrounded by a negatively charged diffusion layer which protects from particle collision and aggregates formation (electrostatic stabilization). In turn, the Cr2O3 suspension containing the PAA is most unstable also at pH?=?3. In this case, the polymer causes destabilization of the colloidal suspension, which results from charge neutralization of solid particles by adsorbed PAA.  相似文献

Abstract

Following the application of permethrin or cyhalothrin to cattle for the control of ectoparasites, the occurrence and persistence of these chemicals was assessed on the animals and in their environment. The release of permethrin from ear tags containing 1g of the drug on cattle was followed for 65 days and lead to concentrations of 5 to 35 μg of permethrin per gram of hair on the shoulders. On the flanks of the animals, the corresponding values were 10 times lower. Across the 1.5 acre pasture, high concentrations of permethiin were measured at various locations and long after treatment: 6 μg/g on bark of a birch after one week, 5 μg/g on a pole of the fence after two weeks, 1 μg/g in grass from a resting site of the animal after six weeks, and 0.5 μg/g in bark of a pine tree after three month and two weeks after the animals had left the pasture. In similar assays, cyhalothrin applied to milk cows as a pour‐on preparation was monitored. One week following treatment with 0.2 g/animal, hair cut from the shoulders contained 5 μg/g of the insecticide, which disappeared with a half‐life of 12 days. Dust collected two weeks after the pour‐on treatment from the milk barn where the cows were milked twice daily contained 47 μg/g of cyhalothrin, which disappeared with a half‐life of 44 days. These results show that synthetic pyrethroids used on farm animals can be the source of widespread and persistent contamination.  相似文献
