Two allylthiocarbamate herbicides, diallate and triallate, were evaluated for neurotoxicity by oral and topical dosing studies with mature white leghorn hens. Diallate was tolerated for 90 days at topical doses of 40 mg/kg/day and oral doses of 20 mg/kg/day. Reversible ataxia and narcosis occurred at diallate doses of 80 mg/kg/day and higher by either route of administration. Triallate did not elicit signs of neurotoxicity at 300 mg/kg/day topically or 400 mg/kg/day orally. The oral dose, however, resulted in gastrointestinal irritation and severe weight loss, such that dosing was terminated after 25 days. Triallate was tolerated at oral dosages of 90 mg/kg/day and topical doses up to 330 mg/kg/day.  相似文献

Carbonaceous aerosols are emitted by combustion sources and may influence the climate by altering the radiation balance of the atmosphere. Carbonaceous particles exist mainly in the accumulation mode and thus may be transported over long distances. The present study deals with the impact of anthropogenic activity associated with accidental fires on the black carbon aerosol concentrations over an urban environment, namely Hyderabad, India. Black carbon aerosol loading in association with meteorological parameters on a normal day, an accident day and a post-accident day have been analysed. Diurnal variations of black carbon aerosols on a normal day suggest that black carbon aerosol concentrations increased by a factor of about 2 during morning and evening hours compared with afternoon hours. A drastic increase in black carbon aerosol loading was found during an accident day compared with a normal day. An immediate return to normal black carbon concentration was found during the post-accident day. Black carbon aerosol loading in relation to rainfall is also discussed in the paper.  相似文献

厌氧氨氧化菌活性恢复及富集培养研究   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
为了防止微生物流失,向厌氧序批式反应器(ASBR)中投加纤维膜(无纺布)作为厌氧氨氧化菌的载体,而使ASBR改为厌氧序批式生物膜反应器(ASBBR),研究了厌氧氨氧化菌活性恢复及富集培养过程中氮负荷提高对ASBBR的影响。经过23d的培养,厌氧氨氧化菌的活性恢复到原有的水平,然后提高TN容积负荷培养厌氧氨氧化菌。至132d时,反应器TN容积去除负荷达到了2.060kg/(m3·d)。整个过程中NH4+-N和NO2--N去除率一直保持在98%以上。当厌氧氨氧化菌活性恢复后,NH4+-N、NO2--N消耗量与NO3--N生成量之比最终趋于一定值(1.00∶1.30∶0.25)。在培养过程中,污泥颜色逐渐由灰色变为红棕色,最终变为浅红色。结果表明,反应器运行很稳定,NH4+-N、NO2--N出水浓度非常低,在短时间内能提高到较高的容积去除负荷。可见,ASBBR很适合厌氧氨氧化菌的富集培养。  相似文献

Acute and Sub-acute toxic effects of a new pesticide phosphorothionate coded as RPR-V on testis of albino rat were studied. For the acute study, rats received a single dose of 30 mg/kg of RPR-V and sacrificed after 24 hours. For the Subacute study, 1.42 mg/kg/day was administered orally to rats for 10 days and 21 days. Acute exposure of rats to RPR-V brought no change either in the Gonadosomatic Index (GSI) or in the structure of testis or in the serum levels of Testosterone. Similarly, no significant change was observed in the Glutathione S-transferase (GST) activity. But, in testis there was significant increased in the reduced Glutathione (GSH) and Acid Phosphatase (AcP), whereas Alkaline Phosphatase (AkP) levels decreased significantly at 24hr post treatment. On 7th day (withdrawal period) after the cessation of the treatment the GSH, AcP, and AkP levels reached to near control. The sub-acute study revealed a significant post treatment. Due to RPR-V treatment the testis AcP levels increased significantly at 21st day of medication but AkP levels decreased both at 10th and 21st day of post treatment. Histopathological studies showed that after 10th day testis showed considerable loss of spermatozoids and at 21st day complete derangement of cellular organization was observed. Testosterone levels decreased significantly after 10th day and remained significantly low at 21st day. However, withdrawal studies showed a recovery in testis of rat treated with RPR-V. GST, GSH, GSI, AcP and AkP values were recovered, testosterone levels were also recovered but recovery in testis structure remained at a low profile.  相似文献

Polychlorinated biphenyl (Aroclor 1254) (400mg/kg/day x4) markedly decreased the activity of both enzymes. Benzo(a)pyrene (BP) and 3-methylcholanthrene (3-MC) (40mg/Kg/day x1) as well as phenobarbital (PB) (75mg/kg/day x3) did not alter the activity of KH, while that of KATE was mildy reduced. The response of the two enzymes to treatment with chlorpromazine (CPZ) (5mg/Kg/day x5) were opposite with marked elevation of KH and inhibition of KATE activities. Treatment with B-naphthoflavone (B-NF) (80mg/Kg/day x2), Pyrazole (200mg/Kg/day x1) or indole (400mg/kg/day x1) produce no change in the activity of either enzyme. It, seems therefore, that Aroclor (1254) and chlorpromazine may cause disordered kynurenine metabolism through alterations in the activities of its metabolizing enzymes. This, in turn, might affect nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide biosynthesis and/or the accumulation of some tryptophan metabolites suspected of being carcinogenic or co-carcinogenic.  相似文献

In this study, PCB uptake by the developing chicken embryo was measured after injection of two different doses of Aroclor 1254 before incubation. It was shown that 2% of the injected PCBs was absorbed on day 13, and this increased exponentially to 18% at day 19. This exponential increase could be described by a similar model for both low and high injection doses. Differences in injection dose resulted in corresponding differences in concentration in the embryos. Lipid corrected concentrations in the embryo were stable through development from day 13 up to day 19 and could be predicted from injection doses by using a conversion factor of 0.15 g(-1).  相似文献

European Holly (Ilex aquifolium) received either charcoal-filtered air (CFA) or CFA with 70 nl l(-1) ozone added for 7 h day(-1) over a 28 day period. Plants were then transferred into cooling incubators for hardening (4 degrees C day/2 degrees C night; day length 12 h) for 7 days and then to the frosting stage (2 degrees C day and -5, -10 or -15 degrees C night) for 4 days. The plants were then placed in ambient conditions. Treatment produced significant differences in chlorophyll fluorescence data. Stomatal conductance was significantly higher for the ozone treatments though both showed a general decline over all temperature regimes. Ozone also significantly increased electrolyte leakage and reduced winter survival. These results show that ambient concentrations of ozone can reduce the tolerance of I. aquifolium to freezing stress, which may have serious implications for its establishment and survival.  相似文献

Monitoring of airborne dust in Delhi during May to July 1985 revealed residues of DDT varying from 1.3 to 7.14 ng mg(-1) (4.06-22.31 ng m(-2) day(-1)) with an average of 3.32 ng mg(-1) (10.38 ng m(-2) day(-1)), and HCH which ranged from 0.46 to 2.35 ng mg(-1) (1.44-7.34 ng m(-2) day(-1)) with a mean of 1.16 ng mg(-1) (3.63 ng m(-2) day(-1)). This study examined the accumulation of aluminium (Al), mostly as the insoluble (Al(OH)(3)) species, by the freshwater crustacean Asellus aquaticus at neutral pH. Animals were exposed to a range of Al concentrations (5-356 microg l(-1)) in three experiments. The first two were of 30 and 50 days duration, respectively, followed by transfer of the A. aquaticus to water containing no Al for 20 days. The third used live and dead animals in order to investigate the contribution made by surface adsorption of Al to the total accumulated. Significant accumulation of Al in the whole tissues occurred by day 10 in all animals in the 30- and 50- day experiment. Peak concentrations of Al were measured in animals between days 10 and 20 with high concentration factors ranging from 1.4 x 10(4) to 5.5 x 10(3). By day 30, accumulated Al had fallen but was still significantly greater than the control in the 50- day exposure experiment. This 30- day increase followed by decreased accumulation of Al was repeated over the remaining exposure period (i.e. 30-50 days) although rates of uptake and loss and peak tissue levels of Al were higher. Proportionality between environmental (water) and tissue concentrations of Al occurred at day 20 but not at day 45. Significantly more Al was accumulated by dead animals than live animals at all Al exposure concentrations. These results suggest that Al is available to the crustacean at neutral pH and that the cuticle may provide an important site of uptake.  相似文献

Surface soil (0-2cm) quality in 87 day care centres in the city of Bergen, Norway has been studied. Approximately 45% of the day care centres contained Pb and PAH values above recommended action levels. There are clear variations between different areas of the city. The old central part of the city hosts most of the contaminated day care centres. In suburban areas most of the day care centres have Pb and PAH concentrations below action levels. City fires, gas work emission, lead-based paint, and traffic are probably important anthropogenic contamination sources, together with uncontrolled transportation of soil from contaminated to clean areas. Geological or other natural sources are probably not an important contributor to the high levels of lead and PAH.  相似文献

A study of the dietary intake of dioxins, consisting of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (dioxin-like PCBs) through foods retailed in the metropolitan Tokyo area from 1999 to 2004 was carried out by the total diet-market basket method on the basis of food classification (14 groups) and the data on food consumption in the Tokyo region obtained from the Japan Nutrition Survey. The daily intake of dioxins per kg of body weight for a 50 kg average adult body was 2.18 pg TEQ/kg/day in 1999, 1.87 pg TEQ/kg/day in 2000, 1.25 pg TEQ/kg/day in 2001, 1.60 pg TEQ/kg/day in 2002 and 2003 and 1.55 pg TEQ/kg/day in 2004, respectively. These amounts were less than the tolerable daily intake (TDI) of 4 pg TEQ/kg/day for dioxins established in Japan. The dioxins taken daily through fish and shellfish (group 10) accounted for more than 50% of sum WHO-TEQs. In addition, more than 90% of the daily intake of dioxins was taken through fish and shellfish (group 10), meat and eggs (group 11), milk and dairy products (group 12). Also, this study clearly showed that the ratio of dioxin-like PCBs in the daily intake of dioxins was increasing yearly because the reduction rate of dioxin-like PCBs was lower than that of PCDDs and PCDFs in foods.  相似文献

Subacute oral toxicity of a newly developed phosphorothionate insecticide (2-butenoic acid-3-(diethoxy-phosphinothioyl) methyl ester), coded as RPR-2, was studied in male rats by oral (multiple) intubation of low (0.014 mg kg(-1) day(-1)), medium (0.028 mg kg(-1) day(-1)), and high (0.042 mg kg(-1) day(-1)) dose for 90 days. The medium and high dose produced toxic symptoms along-with some mortality (20%) occurred in the high dose treated rats. The medium and high doses caused significant inhibition in cytochrome P-450 activity in liver, lung, kidney and brain tissues at 45 and 90 days. The high dose caused significant decrease in cyt.b5 activity of all the four tissues at 45 and 90 days. Whereas, medium dose brought such effect in liver and lung at 45 and 90 days. Kidney and brain cyt.b5 activity decreased significantly at 90th day due to medium dose. Low dose also caused inhibition in cyt.b5 activity in brain at 90th day. Nonylphenol is the primary final biodegradation product of nonylphenol polyethoxylate (NPE), a non-ionic surfactant that is frequently incorporated into pesticide and detergent formulation. Recent researchers have hypothesized that environmental/ occupational exposure to nonylphenol poses adverse effects on reproductive system of humans and wildlife species. During our study, in vivo and in vitro experiments were performed to examine the effect of nonylphenol on testosterone biosynthesis of rat Leydig cells. In experiment in vivo, serum testosterone (T) as well as luteinizing hormone (LH) levels were detected after animals had been treated with different doses (0 mg/kg/day, 125 mg/kg/day, and 250 mg/kg/day) of nonylphenol for 50 days by gavage, and the final result revealed that testosterone level dramatically declined at the dose of 250 mg/kg/day, while LH level ascended at the dose of 125 mg/kg/day and 250 mg/kg/day. In experiment in vitro, primary cultured Leydig cells were exposed to nonylphenol for 48 h, including low concentrations (0 mg/L, 0.0011 mg/L, 0.0033 mg/L, 0.0055 mg/L, 0.011 mg/L, 0.022 mg/L) and higher concentrations (0.11 mg/L, 0.55 mg/L, 1.1 mg/L, 1.65 mg/L, 2.2 mg/L, 2.75 mg/L, 3.3 mg/L, 5.5 mg/L). Increase of testosterone levels was observed at low concentrations of nonylphenol while reduction was detected at higher concentrations.  相似文献

Uptake rates of several PCDDs, PCDFs and PCBs were measured for semipermeable membrane devices (SPMDs) under controlled conditions in bulk water and sediment. The study was performed at 19 degrees C and 11 degrees C, and water and sediment concentrations were measured during the exposure. Linear uptake rates for specific PCDD/Fs and PCBs in 19 degrees C water varied from 34 to 111 l/m2 day and in 11 degrees C water from 8.8 to 96 l/m2 day for the whole SPMD. Uptake rates at 19 degrees C sediment ranged from 9.0 to 80 mgOC/m2 day and in 11 degrees C sediment, from 3.0 to 31, mgOC/m2 day. Partitioning of the compounds between membrane and lipid was also measured during the linear uptake phase. The membrane-lipid concentration ratios ranged from 0.02 to 1.11 depending on the compound, temperature, and bulk medium.  相似文献

Fourteen organophosphorus esters (OPs) were evaluated for their potential to cause organophosphorus ester induced delayed neurotoxicity (OPIDN) when administered dermally and/or orally to white leghorn hens. The compounds were chlorpyrifos, DEF, dichlorvos, dimethoate, EPN, ethoprop, fenthion, isofenphos, leptophos, merphos, ronnel, tetrachlorvinphos, terbufos, and trichlorfon. DEF induced ataxia if given dermally or orally at over 21 mg/kg/day for up to 90 days. Hens treated with EPN developed irreversible ataxia after repeated exposure to as little as 1.3 mg/kg dermally or 5 mg/kg/day orally, while leptophos was neurotoxic at doses of 6-7 mg/kg/day dermally and 10 mg/kg/day orally. Multiple treatments of chlorpyrifos, terbufos, dichlorvos and dimethoate caused death after varying periods of increasing debility; although birds had difficulty walking, they did not display typical symptoms of OPIDN. Fenthion and isofenphos induced drastic weight loss in hens at low levels of treatment; Isofenphos treated hens developed OPIDN, but died soon afterwards. Dichlorvos given at greater than 6 mg/kg/day po or dermally at 1 mg/kg/day produced cholinergic symptoms and most hens died before the end of the treatment period. At lower levels, dichlorvos did not induce overt ataxia. None of the other compounds in this series induced consistent ataxia whether administered orally or dermally. Ethoprop, with an acute oral LD50 near 5 mg/kg and an acute dermal LD50 of approximately 3 mg/kg, was the most toxic compound tested and could not be fully evaluated for its potential to cause OPIDN.  相似文献
