The sorptive behavior of the experimental herbicide quinmerac (7-chloro-3-methyl-quinoline-8-carboxylic acid) was investigated in soils of different organic carbon content. Distribution coefficients are low (Kd = 0.03 - 12 mL g−1) and are mainly determined by the soil organic carbon content. The adsorption mechanism operating in neutral to slightly acid agricultural soils is supposed to be cation bridging with the anionic form of quinmerac. Under acid conditions (pH 5.2) the predominating sorption mechanism is hydrophobic interaction. Therefore soil pH and cationic composition are also major factors determining the sorptive capacity of soils for quinmerac.

Adsorption kinetics, equilibrium adsorption and desorption isotherms were determined in batch experiments. Sorption kinetics were investigated at various times from 15 min to 96 hours. A two-step sorption behavior with time was found for the anionic form indicating two types of sorption mechanisms or sorption sites. Equilibrium for the first type was reached at a time-scale of minutes and for the second type after 24 hours. Adsorption isotherms were determined for two soil/solution ratios 1/5 and 1/3. Alteration of the adsorbent concentration exerted a strong influence on the adsorption isotherms. An increase of sorption was found with increasing adsorbent concentration. Under natural soil conditions sorption is therefore expected to be higher compared to the batch experiments. Desorption isotherms were obtained using the consecutive desorption method. Desorption hysteresis was not observed which indicates weak interactions. Implications of the results for the movement of quinmerac under field conditions and for models describing transport are discussed.  相似文献

The paper discusses sorption of Cr(III) ions from aqueous solutions by animal bones. Animal bones were found to be an efficient sorbent with the maximum experimentally determined sorption capacity in the range 29-194 mg g(-1) that depended on pH and temperature. The maximum experimentally determined sorption capacity was obtained at 50 degrees C, pH 5. Batch kinetics and equilibrium experiments were performed in order to investigate the influence of contact time, initial concentration of sorbate and sorbent, temperature and pH. It was found that sorption capacity increased with increase of Cr(III) concentration, temperature and initial pH of metal solution. Mathematical models describing kinetics and statics of sorption were proposed. It was found that process kinetics followed the pseudo-second-order pattern. The influence of sorbent concentration was described with Langmuir-type equation and the influence of sorbate concentration was described with empirical dependence. Manganese-coated activated carbon (MCAC) and activated carbon were used in batch experiments for the removal of cadmium(II) and copper(II). Results showed that uptake of Cd(II) and Cu(II) was unaffected by increases in pH (3.0 to 8.5) or concentration (1 to 20 mg/L). Increased ionic strength (from 0.001 to 1 M NaNO3), however, significantly affected the uptake of Cd(II); adsorption of Cu(II) was not affected. Freundlich adsorption isotherm results indicated that MCAC possessed higher sorption capacity than activated carbon. Second-order rate constants were found to be 0.0386 for activated carbon and 0.0633 g/mg x min for MCAC for Cd(II) and 0.0774 for AC and 0.1223 g/mg x min for MCAC for Cu(II). Column experiments showed that maximum sorption capacity of MCAC was 39.48 mg/g for Cu(II) and 12.21 mg/g for Cd(II).  相似文献

The laboratory experiments were carried out to study the sorption process of gaseous toluene in the peel of different fruits as well as in the chemically prepared material based on silica support (multiligand-adsorbent). For the sorption experiments, a vapor generating system was used that allows the exposure of sorbents to a constant flux of polluted air. The concentration of toluene in the tested sorbents was followed as a function of exposure time. The obtained results were correlated to the mathematical models describing the sorption kinetics in the leaves. The investigation with the plant material showed dual-phase behavior of the toluene partition ('mixed' sorption mechanism), in the case of multiligand-adsorbent a typical adsorption process was observed. Sorption kinetics to fruit material was well correlated to the two-compartment model, while for the chemically prepared material to the first-order model.  相似文献

The hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HDTMAB) immobilized hollow mesoporous silica spheres were prepared for the efficient removal of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) from aqueous solution. Besides the traditional sorption behavior including sorption kinetics as well as effect of solution pH and temperature, the effect of increasing volume which simulated the natural river where the rate of solute and solvent was relatively constant and solution volume was always changing was investigated. The result indicated that the residual PFOS concentrations in aqueous phase decreased with increasing solution pH and ionic strength, whereas they increased with increasing temperature. The HDTMAB immobilized material still maintained high efficiency after increasing volume, that is, the removal kept more than 99% after the treatment when the initial PFOS concentration was 1 mg L?1. The uptake behavior and morphology of spheres which was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the additional HDTMAB and mesoporous shell were responsible for the enhanced sorption of PFOS. It was concluded that electrostatic interaction and Ca-bridge role played an important role in the sorption of PFOS on the mesoporous SiO2 hollow spheres, whereas, hydrophobic interaction contributed to the nice sorption performance of PFOS on the HDTMAB immobilized sorbent.  相似文献

UraniumVI sorption experiments involving quartz and clinoptilolite, important mineral phases at the proposed US nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, NV, were conducted to evaluate the ability of surface complexation models to predict UVI sorption onto mineral mixtures based on parameters derived from single-mineral experiments. The experiments were conducted at an initial UVI aqueous concentration of approximately 2.0 x 10(-7) mol.l-1 (0.1 mol.l-1 NaNO3 matrix) and over the pH range approximately 2.5 to approximately 9.5. The UVI solutions were reacted with either quartz or clinoptilolite only, or with mixtures of the two minerals. The experiments were carried out under atmospheric pCO2(g) conditions (in loosely capped containers) or under limited pCO2(g) (in capped containers or in a glove box). Data from sorption experiments on quartz at atmospheric pCO2 conditions were used to derive UVI binding constants for a diffuse-layer surface complexation model (DLM). The DLM was then used with surface area as a scaling factor to predict sorption of UVI onto clinoptilolite and clinoptilolite/quartz mixtures under both atmospheric and low pCO2 conditions. The calculations reproduced many aspects of the pH-dependent sorption behavior. If this approach can be demonstrated for natural mineral assemblages, it may be useful as a relatively simple method for improving radionuclide transport models in performance-assessment calculations.  相似文献

Carbonised beet pulp (BPC) produced from agricultural solid waste by-product in sugar industry was used as adsorbent for the removal of Remazol Turquoise Blue-G 133 (RTB-G 133) dye in this study. The kinetics and equilibrium of sorption process were investigated with respect to pH, temperature and initial dye concentration. Adsorption studies with real textile wastewater were also performed. The results showed that adsorption was a strongly pH-dependent process, and optimum pH was determined as 1.0. The maximum dye adsorption capacity was obtained as 47.0 mg g?1at the temperature of 25 °C at this pH value. The Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption models were used for describing the adsorption equilibrium data of the dye, and isotherm constants were evaluated depending on sorption temperature. Equilibrium data of RTB-G 133 sorption fitted very well to the Freundlich isotherm. Mass transfer and kinetic models were applied to the experimental data to examine the mechanisms of adsorption and potential rate-controlling steps. It was found that both external mass transfer and intra-particle diffusion played an important role in the adsorption mechanisms of dye and adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo second-order type kinetic model. The thermodynamic analysis indicated that the sorption process was exothermic and spontaneous in nature.  相似文献

Batch sorption experiments were carried out for the removal of cationic dyes (methylene blue and malachite green) from their aqueous solutions using sorbent made from fly ash-a waste material. Effects of various experimental parameters: initial dye concentration, contact time, pH, adsorbent dosage, solution temperature, surfactant addition and ionic strength on the fly ash sorption of dyes were evaluated. The isothermal data for sorption followed the Langmuir model. The maximum sorption capacity obtained for methylene blue and malachite green was 36.05 mg/g and 40.65 mg/g, respectively. Kinetic studies indicate that sorption on fly ash follows the pseudo-second order kinetics. Present research suggests that fly ash could be an appropriate adsorbent for the removal of basic dyes from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Sorption of metsulfuron-methyl and sulfosulfuron were studied in five Indian soils using batch sorption method. Freundlich adsorption equation described the sorption of herbicides with K(f) (adsorption coefficient) values ranging between 0.21 and 1.88 (metsulfuron-methyl) and 0.37 and 1.17 (sulfosulfuron). Adsorption isotherms were L-type suggesting that the herbicides sorption decreased with increase in the initial concentration of the herbicide in the solution. The K(f) for metsulfuron-methyl showed good positive correlation with silt content (significant at p = 0.01) and strong negative correlation with the soil pH (significant at p = 0.05) while sorption of sulfosulfuron did not correlate with any of the soil parameter. Desorption of herbicides was concentration dependent and, in general, sulfosulfuron showed higher desorption than the metsulfuron-methyl. The study indicates that these herbicides are poorly sorbed in the Indian soil types and there may be a possibility of their leaching to lower soil profiles.  相似文献

The adsorptive interactions of Hg(II) with gibbsite-rich soils (hereafter SOIL-g) were modeled by 1-pK surface complexation theory using charge distribution multi-site ion competition model (CD MUSIC) incorporating basic Stern layer model (BSM) to account for electrostatic effects. The model calibrations were performed for the experimental data of synthetic gibbsite-Hg(II) adsorption. When [NaNO(3)] > or = 0.01M, the Hg(II) adsorption density values, of gibbsite, Gamma(Hg(II)), showed a negligible variation with ionic strength. However, Gamma(Hg(II)) values show a marked variation with the [Cl(-)]. When [Cl(-)] > or = 0.01M, the Gamma(Hg(II)) values showed a significant reduction with the pH. The Hg(II) adsorption behavior in NaNO(3) was modeled assuming homogeneous solid surface. The introduction of high affinity sites, i.e., >Al(s)OH at a low concentration (typically about 0.045 sites nm(-2)) is required to model Hg(II) adsorption in NaCl. According to IR spectroscopic data, the bauxitic soil (SOIL-g) is characterized by gibbsite and bayerite. These mineral phases were not treated discretely in modeling of Hg(II) and soil interactions. The CD MUSIC/BSM model combination can be used to model Hg(II) adsorption on bauxitic soil. The role of organic matter seems to play a role on Hg(II) binding when pH>8. The Hg(II) adsorption in the presence of excess Cl(-) ions required the selection of high affinity sites in modeling.  相似文献

Sorption is one among the many techniques available for the removal of organic materials from potable water and waste water. Use of locally available Wood Charcoal (WC) is essential in place of costly activated charcoal to make the process more economical and lucrative. The vital objective of this investigation was to assess the performance of WC for the removal of DDT from the aqueous phase. The influence of important factors like, particle size, pH, and time of contact, which affects the sorption process was studied in this investigation using batch experiments. The removal kinetics were carried out under the temperature 27 degrees +/- 1 degrees C (room temperature) and the sorption kinetics constants were evaluated. Sorption equilibria study has also been carried out to develop the Freudlich's sorption isotherm equation from which the ultimate sorption capacity of WC for sorption of DDT was calculated.  相似文献

利用废弃蛋壳为原料、尿素为添加剂,合成纳米碳羟基磷灰石(CHAP)用于吸附水中双酚A(BPA)。利用红外光谱、扫描电镜和X射线能谱测试技术对CHAP样品表面化学进行了表征,同时考察了环境因子pH值、吸附时间和BPA初始浓度对吸附的影响。实验结果表明,CHAP对BPA去除率在酸性(pH=3~6)溶液中较好,而在中性和碱性环境中减弱。通过静态吸附实验数据计算分析得知,CHAP对BPA吸附符合Langmuir和Freundlich等温式,准二级动力学模型比准一级动力学模型能更好地描述CHAP对BPA吸附动力学行为。  相似文献

Study of sorption kinetics of some ionic liquids on different soil types   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In the present contribution sorption kinetics experiments under static conditions were utilized in three selected ionic liquids cations (1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium, 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium, 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium chlorides) study with five type of soil, differing in total organic carbon (TOC) content. The experimental results indicate the sorption capacity growth with increase in TOC content and hydrophobicity of ionic liquid cation. The obtained kinetic sorption parameters as well as distribution coefficients (Kd) were used to estimate the sorption properties of the soil types towards the ionic liquids in question. The Gibbs free energy values indicate that ionic liquid cations sorption on soils could be generally considered as a physical adsorption with exothermic effect. But the values of −dG for studied cations sorption on soil with very high of TOC content in soil (45%) may testify to nature of chemical adsorption. Sorption of the analyzed compounds occurs probably by means of hydrogen bonds, electrostatic and π  π interaction with the organic matter and the clay minerals of the soils.  相似文献

The rice straw ash (RSA) and wheat straw ash (WSA) were explored as low cost adsorbent for pretilachlor removal from water. The ashes were characterized and sorption behavior of pretilachlor was evaluated. Kinetics study suggested that the modified Elovich model best explained the pretilachlor sorption on both the ashes. The adsorption data were analyzed using 2-, 3- and 4-parameter models and nine error functions were used to compute the best fit isotherm by nonlinear regression analysis. The pretilachlor was more sorbed onto the RSA (22.0–92.2%) than the WSA (11.4–61.4%) and percent adsorption decreased with increase in the herbicide concentration in solution. Isotherm model optimization analysis suggested that the Freundlich and the Temkin isotherms were the best models to predict the pretilachlor adsorption onto the RSA and the WSA. The error analysis suggested that the reciprocal of the observed squared (ROS) and the reciprocal of the predicted squared (RPS) error functions provided the best determination of the adsorption constants for the Freundlich and the Temkin isotherms, respectively. The RSA, which exhibited higher pretilachlor sorption potential, can be utilized as low cost adsorbent for pesticide removal from contaminated water.  相似文献

以粉煤灰为吸附剂去除溶液中的磷,考察了其吸附除P动力学特征、热力学特征以及溶液初始pH和粉煤灰投加量对吸附除P效果的影响,并对其吸附除P机理做了初步探讨。结果表明,在给定实验条件下,粉煤灰对P具有较好的去除效果,随着初始P浓度从10 mg/L升高到80 mg/L,平衡吸附量为0.46~2.44 mg P/g粉煤灰,吸附效率从92.2%降低至61.1%;对不同浓度的含P溶液,粉煤灰最适用量为0.6~1.5 g粉煤灰/mg P;相同反应条件下,当温度由25℃升高到45℃时,P初始吸附速率提高了3倍;粉煤灰对P的吸附过程能够较好地拟合Langmuir、Freundlich及D-R吸附等温模型,相关系数均在0.98以上。通过对吸附饱和的粉煤灰进行解析实验发现,初始P浓度较低(<50 mg/L)时,以化学吸附为主,而在初始P浓度较高(>80 mg/L)时,则以物理吸附为主。  相似文献

The quantitative determination of pesticide binding to dissolved humic substances is relevant to both water treatment operation using activated carbon adsorption process and the application of transport models that predict the environmental distribution patterns of a given hydrophobic contaminant. In this study and in a first set of experiments, the extent of binding between (i) three pesticides of environmental concern, aldicarb, lindane and pentachlorophenol, and (ii) dissolved commercial humic acid and soil extracted fulvic acid, was determined using dialysis experiments and water solubility enhancement tests. In a second set of experiments, the influence of dissolved humic substances or pesticide on the retention of the other co-adsorbate onto activated carbon was investigated in binary systems. It was found that association was negligible for aldicarb and that the pesticide sorption onto activated carbon was not affected by humic acid (8.5 mg liter(-1) DOC). The association constants K for lindane and pentachlorophenol were identical in the presence of fulvic acid (logK=4.1) but lower than that observed with humic acid. In the presence of humic acid, binding affinity for pentachlorophenol (logK=4.6) was higher than the one observed for lindane (logK=4.4), despite its much higher water solubility. This observation suggests that the aromatic character of the pentachlorophenol molecule contributes to association interactions with humic acid. From co-adsorption experiments onto activated carbon it was found that fulvic acid (7.7 mg litre(-1) DOC) slightly enhances sorption kinetics of pentachlorophenol. Lindane (1 mg litre(-1)) does not affect sorption kinetics for fulvic acid but markedly enhances both the sorption kinetics and adsorptive capacity for humic acid. Activated carbon retention of dissolved humic substances or pesticide appears to be enhanced by the association potential that exists between these co-adsorbates in some binary systems.  相似文献

高炉渣(BFS)是在冶炼生铁过程中产生的固体废弃物,开展高炉渣的资源化研究具有重要意义.为了对水淬高炉渣净化含磷污水的应用提供理论依据,采取等温吸附的实验方法,比较了不同水淬炉渣的吸附磷效果,研究了不同pH和不同温度下水淬炉渣吸附磷的特点,结果如下:利用Langmuir等温吸附方程炉渣吸附磷的过程进行拟合,其相关系数均能达到显著水平.炉渣的碱度越高,吸附磷的效果越好;炉渣对磷的吸附能力随溶液pH的增加而降低,且初始为酸性(pH=2、4)的溶液在吸附达到平衡后pH有所上升,而初始为碱性的溶液(pH=10、12)在吸附达到平衡后pH有所下降;炉渣对磷的吸附是一个自发放热过程.  相似文献
