Black carbon (BC) is an important aerosol species because of its global and regional influence on radiative forcing and its local effects on the environment and human health. We have estimated the emissions of BC in China, where roughly one-fourth of global anthropogenic emissions is believed to originate. China's high rates of usage of coal and biofuels are primarily responsible for high BC emissions. This paper pays particular attention to the application of appropriate emission factors for China and the attenuation of these emissions where control devices are used. Nevertheless, because of the high degree of uncertainty associated with BC emission factors, we provide ranges of uncertainty for our emission estimates, which are approximately a factor of eight. In our central case, we calculate that BC emissions in China in 1995 were 1342 Gg, about 83% being generated by the residential combustion of coal and biofuels. We estimate that BC emissions could fall to 1224 Gg by 2020. This 9% decrease in BC emissions can be contrasted with the expected increase of 50% in energy use; the reduction will be obtained because of a transition to more advanced technology, including greater use of coal briquettes in place of raw coal in cities and towns. The increased use of diesel vehicles in the future will result in a greater share of the transport sector in total BC emissions. Spatially, BC emissions are predominantly distributed in an east–west swath across China's heartland, where the rural use of coal and biofuels for cooking and heating is widespread. This is in contrast to the emissions of most other anthropogenically derived air pollutants, which are closely tied to population and industrial centers.  相似文献

Black carbon (BC) contents were measured in recent sediments in five high altitude remote alpine lakes, i.e. Lake Krisko Sup., Lake Ledvica, Lake Planina, Lake Krn and Lovrensko Lake, and the eutrophic subalpine Lake Bled in Slovenia to follow the history of atmospheric pollution of fossil fuel and local biomass burning in Alps. Organic carbon (OC), its 13C values, total nitrogen and sedimentation rates using 210Pb activity data were also measured. The highest BC contents, reaching 20 mg/gdw, were noted in remote alpine lakes while in the subalpine Lake Bled sediment the concentrations were lower reaching 5 mg/gdw. Lower BC/OC ratios, ranging between 4% and 8%, were typical for remote alpine lakes and increased to about 10% in subalpine Lake Bled. The latter clearly shows the marked importance of local direct pollution sources in comparison to remote atmospheric input which decreases in a W-E direction in parallel with decreasing amounts of precipitation. Based on 210Pb sedimentation data, the minimal BC accumulation rates in sediment cores were detected in the pre-industrialisation period. In the last decades of 20th century the BC contents decreased probably due to reduced emission of pollutants.  相似文献

Aerosol light absorption as black carbon (BC) was measured from November 19, 1995, to February 6, 1996, at a location 0.65 km downwind of the center of McMurdo Station on the Antarctic coast. The results show a bimodal frequency distribution of BC concentrations. Approximately 65% of the measurements were found in a mode at a low range of concentrations centered at approximately 20 ng/m3. These concentrations are higher than those found at other remote Antarctic locations and probably represent contamination from the station. The remaining measurements were in a high-concentration mode (BC approximately 300 ng/m3), indicating direct impact of local emissions from combustion activities at the station. High values of BC were associated with winds from the direction of the station, and the BC flux showed a clear directionality. Maximum BC concentrations occurred between 7:00 and 11:00 a.m. The "polluted" mode accounted for more than 80% of the BC frequency-weighted impact at this location.  相似文献

With the concerns of ecological and circular economy along with sustainable development, reverse logistics has attracted the attention of enterprise. How to achieve sustainable development of reverse logistics has important practical significance of enhancing low carbon competitiveness. In this paper, the system boundary of reverse logistics carbon footprint is presented. Following the measurement of reverse logistics carbon footprint and reverse logistics carbon capacity is provided. The influencing factors of reverse logistics carbon footprint are classified into five parts such as intensity of reverse logistics, energy structure, energy efficiency, reverse logistics output, and product remanufacturing rate. The quantitative research methodology using ADF test, Johansen co-integration test, and impulse response is utilized to interpret the relationship between reverse logistics carbon footprint and the influencing factors more accurately. This research finds that energy efficiency, energy structure, and product remanufacturing rate are more capable of inhibiting reverse logistics carbon footprint. The statistical approaches will help practitioners in this field to structure their reverse logistics activities and also help academics in developing better decision models to reduce reverse logistics carbon footprint.  相似文献

A pilot study was conducted to evaluate the performance and agreement of several commercially available black carbon (BC) measurement instruments, when applied to the quantification of BC in light-duty vehicle (LDV) exhaust. Samples from six vehicles, three fuels, and three driving cycles were used. The pilot study included determinations of the method detection limit (MDL) and repeatability. With respect to the MDL, the real-time instruments outperformed the time-integrated instruments, with MDL = 0.12 mg/mi for the AE51 Aethalometer, and 0.15 mg/mi for the Micro Soot Sensor (MSS), versus 0.38 mg/mi for the IMPROVE_A thermal/optical method, and 0.35 mg/mi for the OT21_T Optical Transmissometer. The real-time instruments had repeatability values ranging from 30% to 35%, which are somewhat better than those of the time-integrated instruments (40–41%). These results suggest that, despite being less resource intensive, real-time methods can be equivalent or superior to time-integrated methods in terms of sensitivity and repeatability. BC mass data, from the photoacoustic and light attenuation instruments, were compared against same-test EC data, determined using the IMPROVE_A method. The MSS BC data was well correlated with EC, with R 2 = 0.85 for the composite results and R2 = 0.86 for the phase-by-phase (PBP) results. The correlation of BC, by the AE51, AE22, and OT21_T, with EC was moderate to weak. The weaker correlation was driven by the inclusion of US06 test data in the linear regression analysis. We hypothesize that test-cycle-dependent BC:EC ratios are due to the different physicochemical properties of particulate matter (PM) in US06 and Federal Test Procedure (FTP) tests. Correlation amongst the real-time MSS, PASS-1, AE51, and AE22 instruments was excellent (R2 = 0.83–0.95), below 1 mg/mi levels. In the process of investigating these BC instruments, we learned that BC emissions at sub-1 mg/mi levels can be measured and are achievable by current-generation gasoline engines.

Implications: Most comparison studies of black carbon (BC) measurement methods were carried out in the ambient air. This study assesses the agreement among various BC measurement instrument in emissions from light-duty gasoline vehicles (LDGVs) on standard test cycles, and evaluates applicability of these methods under various fuel types, driving cycles, and engine combustion technologies. This research helps to fill in the knowledge gap of BC method standardization as stated in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2011 Report to Congress on Black Carbon, and these results demonstrate the feasibility of quantification of BC at the 1 mg/mi PM standard in California Low Emission Vehicle III regulations.  相似文献

We report data from a yearlong (2006–2007) study of black carbon concentrations ([BC]) measured at 5-min intervals with an Aethalometer in Karachi, Pakistan. Daily mean [BC] varied from about 1 to 15 μg m?3. However, short-term spikes exceeding 40 μg m?3 were common, occurring primarily during the morning and evening rush-hour periods. The [BC] values were highest during November through February, ~10 μg m?3, and lowest during June through September, ~2 μg m?3. Diurnal, seasonal, and day-of-the-week trends are discussed. It is demonstrated that these trends are strongly affected by meteorological patterns. A simple expression is applied to the concentration profiles to separate the effects of meteorological conditions and elucidate the underlying emissions patterns. Daily emissions varied from 14,000 to 22,000 kg of BC per day. When integrated over the year emissions for Karachi Proper were estimated at 6.7 kilometric tons per year and emissions for greater Karachi were 17.5 kilometric tons per year. Folding in the populations of each area yields BC emissions of 0.74 and 1.1 kg per person per year, respectively. Applying the model to previously collected data at Lahore, Pakistan yields emissions during November–January that are around a factor of two higher than those in Karachi, but because the BC measurements in Lahore covered only three months, no estimates of annual emissions were attempted. Given the large populations of these cities the local health impact from PM alone is expected to be severe but because of the high [BC] emissions the impact on the global climate may be equally significant.  相似文献

The investigators developed a system to measure black carbon (BC) and particle-bound polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission factors during roadside sampling in four cities along the United States-Mexico border, Calexico/Mexicali and El Paso/Juarez. The measurement system included a photoacoustic analyzer for BC, a photoelectric aerosol sensor for particle-bound PAHs, and a carbon dioxide (CO2) analyzer. When a vehicle with measurable emissions passed the system probe, corresponding BC, PAH, and CO2 peaks were evident, and a fuel-based emission factor was estimated. A picture of each vehicle was also recorded with a digital camera. The advantage of this system, compared with other roadside methods, is the direct measurement of particulate matter components and limited interference from roadside dust. The study revealed some interesting trends: Mexican buses and all medium-duty trucks were more frequently identified as high emitters of BC and PAH than heavy-duty trucks or passenger vehicles. In addition, because of the high daily mileage of buses, they are good candidates for additional study. Mexican trucks and buses had higher average emission factors compared with U.S. trucks and buses, but the differences were not statistically significant. Few passenger vehicles had measurable BC and PAH emissions, although the highest emission factor came from an older model passenger vehicle licensed in Baja California.  相似文献

Flaring is a technique used extensively in the oil and gas industry to burn unwanted flammable gases. Oxidation of the gas can preclude emissions of methane (a potent greenhouse gas); however, flaring creates other pollutant emissions such as particulate matter (PM) in the form of soot or black carbon (BC). Currently available PM emissionfactors for flares were reviewed and found to be questionably accurate, or based on measurements not directly relevant to open-atmosphere flares. In addition, most previous studies of soot emissions from turbulent diffusion flames considered alkene or alkyne based gaseous fuels, and few considered mixed fuels in detail and/or lower sooting propensity fuels such as methane, which is the predominant constituent of gas flared in the upstream oil and gas industry. Quantitative emission measurements were performed on laboratory-scale flares for a range of burner diameters, exit velocities, and fuel compositions. Drawing from established standards, a sampling protocol was developed that employed both gravimetric analysis of filter samples and real-time measurements of soot volume fraction using a laser-induced incandescence (LII) system. For the full range of conditions tested (burner inner diameter [ID] of 12.7-76.2 mm, exit velocity 0.1-2.2 m/sec, 4- and 6-component methane-based fuel mixtures representative of associated gas in the upstream oil industry), measured soot emission factors were less than 0.84 kg soot/10(3) m3 fuel. A simple empirical relationship is presented to estimate the PM emission factor as a function of the fuel heating value for a range of conditions, which, although still limited, is an improvement over currently available emission factors.  相似文献

Absorption of sunlight by sub-micron particles is an important factor in calculations of the radiation balance of the earth and thus in climate modelling. Carbon-containing particles are generally considered as the most important in this respect. Major sources of these particles are generally considered to be bio-mass burning and vehicle exhaust. In order to characterise size fractionated particulate matter in a rural village in Botswana with respect to light absorption and elemental content experiments were performed, in which simultaneous sampling was made with a dichotomous impactor and a laboratory-made sampler, made compatible with black carbon analysis by reflectometry. The dichotomous impactor was equipped with Teflon filters and the other sampler with glass fibre filters. Energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence was used for elemental analysis of both kinds of filters. It appeared that Teflon filters were the most suitable for the combination of mass-, elemental- and black carbon measurements. The black carbon content in coarse (2.5–10 μm) and fine (<2.5 μm) particles was determined separately and related to elemental content and emission source. The results show that the fine particle fraction in the aerosol has a much higher contribution of black particles than the coarse particle fraction. This observation is valid for the village in Botswana as well as for a typical industrialised city in Sweden, used as a reference location.  相似文献

研究了活性炭纤维(ACF)存在下苯酚的臭氧化降解,以及臭氧化过程对炭表面的影响.结果表明:ACF存在下的臭氧化能够显著提高苯酚的分解和矿化,ACF的用量为1 g时.反应10 min后苯酚和COD的去除率分别为96.8%和88.4%,而活性炭在同样条件下对苯酚和COD的去除率仅分别为68.0%和63.6%;臭氧化后的ACF表面含氧官能团、比表面积和总孔体积都发生了变化,内酯基减少,羧基、羟基和羰基增多,表面更亲水;比表面积增加且主要集中在微孔,而微孔体积的减少表明较小孔径的微孔数量显著增多,同时出现极少量中孔和大孔.  相似文献

正渗透过程能够有效运行的一个前提条件是要求驱动溶质反向扩散的通量非常小。为了深入了解正渗透过程中驱动溶质反渗对膜分离过程的影响,以现有的浓差极化模型为基础,建立正渗透过程不同操作模式下驱动溶质的反渗通量以及膜通量的数学模型。为证明模型的准确性,以NaCl为驱动液做一组序批式实验,测出不同初始渗透压下的水通量和反渗通量,将实验值与模型预测值比较,发现模型的预测结果与实验结果高度吻合。  相似文献

Black carbon (BC; soot and charcoal) can be an extremely strong sorbent for organic compounds. In a previous study, sorption of d(10)-phenanthrene (d(10)-PHE) to BC in an unmodified contaminated sediment was found to be nine times less than that for BC isolated from this sediment. To find out the mechanism of this sorption attenuation (competition for BC sites between d(10)-PHE and native PAHs or blocking of BC sites by natural organic matter), we determined the effect on d(10)-PHE-BC sorption isotherms of additions of either PAHs or precipitated humic acid. Addition of humic acid did not significantly decrease BC sorption, whereas PAH additions (equal to the native PAH content in the original sediment) did, by about one order of magnitude. Therefore, competition between d(10)-PHE and the native PAHs could explain the whole attenuation of sorption to BC in unmodified sediments.  相似文献

Continuous measurements of black carbon aerosol (BCA) at the Mace Head Atmospheric Research Station on the Atlantic Ocean coast of Ireland show the occurrence of dramatically elevated concentrations when regionally polluted air masses are advected to the station. These occurrences correlate well with similar elevations in carbon monoxide and a wide range of other trace gases monitored near-simultaneously with the BCA. Using daily sector allocation and a sophisticated Lagrangian dispersion model, two independent estimates of the European emission source strength of BCA that are required to explain the Mace Head observations have been made. The best estimates of the UK and European emission source strengths of BCA are 46±14 and [(482–511)±140]×103 tonnes yr−1, respectively, and these estimates compare favourably with published inventories, at least to within ±25%, though they are considerably smaller than the emissions employed in some early global climate model studies.  相似文献

针对电吸附技术在反渗透浓水回收利用过程中的吸附效率问题,通过NaOH、KOH、氨水对ACF电极材料进行浸渍改性,采用SEM观察、傅里叶变换红外光谱图分析的方法对改性前后ACF进行了表征;研究了改性前后ACF对反渗透浓水的去除效果和除盐动力学特性;探讨了碱改性前后ACF处理反渗透浓水的除盐机理。结果表明:随着氨水改性ACF比表面积的增加,表面碱性基团增加、酸性基团减少;ACF理化特征的变化与改性剂溶液的酸碱性有关;氨水改性ACF对反渗透浓水中电导率、氨氮、COD均有很好的降低或去除效果,而NaOH改性ACF对UV254有很好的去除效果;碱改性ACF处理反渗透浓水除盐过程更符合Elovich动力学方程;碱改性ACF电吸附处理反渗透浓水时,对各污染物指标表现出选择性,且与未改性ACF相比,具有更好的降低或去除效果,同时,碱改性ACF电吸附除盐过程是以物理吸附和化学吸附共存的多相吸附过程,也会存在离子交换作用。  相似文献

Black carbon (soot) concentrations have been measured in rain water, snow samples and near surface air at several locations in Nova Scotia, Canada. The average black carbon concentration in near surface air in summer was found to be 0.54 μg m-3 compared to 1.74 μg m-3 in the winter season. These values are comparable to black carbon concentrations found in other mid-size urban areas. The black carbon concentration in rain water and snow samples varied between an undetectable amount to about 20 μg kg-1 of rain (or melt) water. The relatively low concentrations of black carbon in precipitation are attributed to extratropical cyclones that often develop off-shore to the east and south of Nova Scotia in relatively clean conditions of the marine boundary layer.  相似文献

为探究长期反硝化过程中复合释碳填料释碳能力及脱氮效能的提高途径,采用机械粉碎(JX)、机械粉碎+碱处理(JJ)、机械粉碎+生物处理(JS)3种方法对玉米芯进行预处理后作为填料核心基材,掺杂海绵铁提高复合释碳填料释放电子供体能力,生成的Fe2+、Fe3+充当碳源-微生物-硝酸盐之间的电子转移中间体,聚乙烯醇作为粘结剂将其与海绵铁粘结,制备了JX、JJ和JS 3种生物膜载体复合释碳填料。研究3种填料的释碳性能及静态反硝化特性。结果表明: 3种填料在60 d内的静态释碳过程可分3个阶段,释碳累积量为JJ填料(116.139 mg·g−1)>JX填料(93.200 mg·g−1)>JS填料(78.079 mg·g−1),二次污染物TN释放量接近于0 mg·(g·d)−1;采用准二级动力学拟合释碳过程,JJ填料的Cm、t1/2值最大,具有较好的释碳能力和稳定的释放速率,Ritger-Peppas方程拟合结果为3种填料N<0.45,释放机制均为扩散; 3种填料释放出的可溶荧光性有机物均为酪氨酸/色氨酸、酪氨酸/色氨酸蛋白类物质,易被生物降解,机械粉碎+碱处理后的玉米芯结构使碳源的释放更加多而稳定,且适合微生物附着生长; 3种填料静态反硝化稳定期,对TN的去除率均能达到90%以上,JJ填料组对TN的去除率最高达97.3%,JX、JJ、JS填料在10~45 d反硝化过程中COD平均值分别为15.412、29.690、19.877 mg·L−1,JJ填料组对COD理论利用率稳定在90.34%。研究结果表明,玉米芯经机械粉碎+1% NaOH碱处理与海绵铁、聚乙烯醇复合后,更适合作为长期反硝化复合释碳填料。  相似文献
