Growth performance and heavy metal uptake by willow (Salix viminalis) from strongly and moderately polluted calcareous soils were investigated in field and growth chamber trials to assess the suitability of willow for phytoremediation. Field uptakes were 2-10 times higher than growth chamber uptakes. Despite high concentrations of cadmium (≥80 mg/kg) and zinc (≥3000 mg/kg) in leaves of willow grown on strongly polluted soil with up to 18 mg Cd/kg, 1400 mg Cu/kg, 500 mg Pb/kg and 3300 mg Zn/kg, it is unsuited on strongly polluted soils because of poor growth. However, willow proved promising on moderately polluted soils (2.5 mg Cd/kg and 400 mg Zn/kg), where it extracted 0.13% of total Cd and 0.29% of the total Zn per year probably representing the most mobile fraction. Catalytic combustion of volatile organic compounds, such as propene, has been studied on manganese modified mesoporous molecular sieves. Powder X-ray diffraction, (29)Si nuclear magnetic resonance, nitrogen sorption and transmission electron microscopy show that the SBA-15 mesoporous silica molecular sieve can be modified with manganese using Mn(2)(CO)(10) or Mn(O(2)CMe)(2) without significant distortion of the host structure. The two products were catalytically active in propene oxidation, with SBA-15 modified with Mn(2)(CO)(10) showing significantly higher activity, possibly due to higher Mn content, than SBA-15 modified with Mn(O(2)CMe)(2). 相似文献

The paper summarises the results of the studies on retrieval of heavy metal ions in solution by ferritisation and its potential application in waste-water treatment. The optimum procedure for ferritisation of heavy metal ions in solution has been evolved with respect to pH, concentration of Fe2+, rate and time of aeration and temperature. The recommended procedure consists of controlled aeration of the solution containing heavy metal ions and ferrous ions at pH 9.5-10.5 at about 50 degrees C, until the black, granular, magnetic ferrite separates out. The metal ferrites can also be formed, even without heating or forced aeration, by ageing the mixed metal hydroxide precipitate at pH 10 to 11. The metal ferrites formed have been characterised by X-ray diffractometry. The laboratory-scope experiments conducted with synthetic heavy metal solutions as well as actual wastewater from a tanning industry showed that heavy metal ions can be effectively removed from solution to sub-ppm levels. The metal ferrites thus recovered may find commercial application as microwave absorbers, catalysts, metal scavengers, etc. This technique seems to have potential application in simultaneous, one step removal of different heavy metal ions from industrial wastewaters. 相似文献

随着现代工业的迅速发展,生产过程中排出的有害重金属离子废水日益增加。寻找较为廉价的废水净化材料,对其中有害重金属离子的有效处理已成为环境保护中亟待解决的问题。廉价吸附剂的使用取代了目前成本较高的从溶液中回收重金属离子的方法,同时吸附剂改性会大大提高其吸附量。阐述了壳聚糖、海泡石、膨润土、海藻和泥炭等结构组成、吸附和离子交换性能等,报道廉价吸附剂对一些重金属离子的最大吸附量是:796mgPb/g壳聚糖,1123mgHg/g壳聚糖。92mgcr(Ⅲ)/g壳聚糖,76mgCr(Ⅲ)/g泥炭,41mgPb/g膨润土,558mgCd/g壳聚糖,215mgCd/g海藻。由此展现了廉价吸附剂在重金属离子废水处理过程中的巨大优势和良好的发展前景。 相似文献

In situ remediation of soils contaminated with toxic metal ions using microwave energy 总被引:15,自引:0,他引:15
Following onto our work on the in situ remediation of soils contaminated with PAH's, PCB's and other polychlorinated organic compounds using microwave energy, we now report a preliminary investigation on the in situ remediation of soils contaminated with toxic metal ions: Cd(II), Mn(II), Th(IV), Cr(III) and mainly Cr(VI). The soil is partially vitrified in the process, and extraction with hot (70 degrees C) 35% nitric acid for 4.5 h leads to the recovery of very small amounts of the metals which had been spiked into the clean soil: Cd, Mn, and Cr(III) are completely immobilized (unextractable), Th is mostly unextractable, and Cr(VI) partially extractable at very high levels of spiking, but almost completely unextractable using the US EPA Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure. This suggests that contaminated soils which are not going to be used for agricultural purposes can be remediated safely to preset depths without fear of the toxic metal ions leaching out for a long time. 相似文献

Phytoremediation is a site remediation strategy, which employs plants to remove non-volatile and immisible soil contents. This sustainable and inexpensive process is emerging as a viable alternative to traditional contaminated land remediation methods. To enhance phytoremediation as a viable strategy, fast growing plants with high metal uptake ability and rapid biomass gain are needed. This paper provides a brief review of studies in the area of phytoaccumulation, most of which have been carried out in Europe and the USA. Particular attention is given to the role of phytochelators in making the heavy metals bio-available to the plant and their symbionts in enhancing the uptake of bio-available heavy metals. 相似文献

Toxic heavy metals in air, soil and water are global problems that are growing threat to the environment. Therefore, the removal and separation of toxic and environmentally relevant heavy metal ions are a technological challenge with respect to industrial and environmental application. A promising process for the removal of heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions involves bonding the metals to a bonding agent (such as macromolecular species), and then separating the loaded agents from wastewater by separation processes such as membrane filtration. The choice of water-soluble macroligands remains important for developing this technology. The effects of type of complexing agent, pH value and applied pressure on retention coefficients of Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes were investigated. At best operating conditions (pH=9.0, p=300kPa) using diethylaminoethyl cellulose, the removal of Cd(2+) and Zn(2+) was more than 95% and 99%, respectively. 相似文献

Evaluation of adsorption performance of several industrially manufactured pectins towards some toxic heavy metals was carried out. Adsorption isotherms for divalent cations in simulant aqueous solutions were measured and corresponding distribution coefficients were calculated. The following selectivity sequences we found for pectins: Pb2+ > Cu2+ > Co2+ > Ni2+ > Zn2+ > Cd2+. It was shown that a beet pectin exhibits a high affinity for Pb2+ and Cu2+ ions, an apple pectin for Co2+ ion and a citrus pectin for Ni2+ ion. The binding properties of all pectins towards Zn2+ and Cd2+ ions are extremely poor. The quantitative data on adsorption performance of pectins suggest their applicability as food additives or remedies for efficient removal of Pb2+, Cu2+, Co2+, and Ni2+ ions from different biological systems, including human and animal organisms. 相似文献

以生物废料橘子皮(OP)为原料,经乙醇、NaOH和CaCl2处理,得到皂化交联改性橘子皮(SCOP)生物吸附剂,将其用于对重金属离子Cu2+、pb2+、Cd2+、Zn2+和Ni2+的吸附,并研究了溶液pH、吸附时间和重金属离子初始浓度对SCOP吸附性能的影响.结果表明,重金属离子在改性橘子皮上的吸附速率快,符合准二级动力学方程;改性橘子皮对Cu2+、pb2+、Zn2+和Ni2+的吸附等温线符合Langmuir方程,对Cd2+的吸附等温线符合Freundlich方程,根据Langmuir方程计算对Cu2+、pb2+、Cd2+、Zn2+和Ni2+的饱和吸附量分别为72.73、209.80、85.84、56.18、33.80mg/g,均高于改性前.改性后的橘子皮生物吸附剂可以再生重复使用4次以上,是性能良好的重金属离子吸附剂. 相似文献

In the electrokinetic treatment of heavy metal polluted soil, an alkaline environment is generated at the cathode side. It provokes the precipitation of metal ions as hydroxides into the soil and diminishes the capability of the electroremediation to clean the polluted site. In this work the "polarity exchange" technique is presented as a simple way to avoid the negative effect of OH(-) on metal transportation. This technique lies in the operation during short time intervals at inverted polarity, so that the generation of H+ ions from the oxidation of water neutralize in the alkaline zone where the metal is precipitated, favouring its dissolution. Once the metals are redissolved, the polarity is set to the original position to transport them to the desired direction. Kaolin clay contaminated with Mn was used to test the feasibility of the polarity exchange technique. The application of the "conventional technique" dealt with a removal of 14% of the initial Mn in 7.6d. For a similar treatment time the polarity exchange technique resulted in 72% of removed Mn. Successive polarity exchanges will yield with a complete decontamination of the soil with a moderate increment in the electric power consumption. 相似文献

实验模拟地下环境,以受重金属离子Pb(Ⅱ)、As(Ⅲ)、Cd(Ⅱ)、Cr(Ⅵ)、Fe(Ⅱ)和总Mn污染的地下水为研究对象,利用还原铁粉、铸铁粉、铸铁粉与颗粒活性炭的混合物为可渗透反应墙(PRB)的主要介质,石英砂为辅助介质,设计了3种反应器.在有效孔隙率为60%~65%、水力停留时间为12.0~14.4 h的条件下,考察其对污染物的去除效果.结果表明:3种反应器对Pb(Ⅱ)、As(Ⅲ)、Cd(Ⅱ)、Cr(Ⅵ)均有较高的去除效果,去除率达98%以上;总Mn的去除率分别达98%、89%和66%;Fe(Ⅱ)的去除率分别达83%、56%和49%.考察了3种反应器内pH、Eh、DO的关系及对重金属离子去除效果的影响,分析了污染物的去除机理.综合考虑处理效果与成本,笔者认为以铸铁粉与石英砂的混合物为PRB的反应介质,应用PRB技术原位处理受上述重金属离子污染的地下水是可行的. 相似文献

Dendrimer-functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) for heavy metal ion removal from wastewaters were developed. Triazole dendrimers (TD) were built directly onto the carbon nanotube surface by successive click chemistry reactions affording the zero- and first-generation dendrimer-functionalized MWCNT (MWCNT-TD1 and MWCNT-TD2). The Moedritzer-Irani reaction carried out on the amino groups present on the MWCNT-TD2 sample gave the corresponding α-aminophosphonate nanosystem MWCNT-TD2P. Both MWCNT-TD2 and MWCNT-TD2P nanosystems have been characterized by physical, chemical, and morphological analyses. Their chelating abilities towards the toxic metal ions Pb2+, Hg2+, and Ni2+ and the harmless Ca2+ ion have been experimentally evaluated in the two different sets of experiments and at the salt concentrations of 1 mg/mL or 1 μg/mL by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The results of these studies pointed out the interesting chelating behavior for the phosphonated nanosystem towards the Hg2+ ion. The complexation mode of the best chelating system MWCNT-TD2P with mercury was investigated through density functional theory (DFT) calculations, suggesting a chelation mechanism involving the two oxygen atoms of the phosphate group. The synthesized dendrimers, supported on the multi-walled carbon nanotubes, have shown the potential to be used for the selective toxic metal ion removal and recovery. 相似文献

We evaluated the effectiveness of lime and red mud (by-product of aluminium manufacturing) to reduce metal availability to Festuca rubra and to allow re-vegetation on a highly contaminated brown-field site. Application of both lime and red mud (at 3 or 5%) increased soil pH and decreased metal availability. Festuca rubra failed to establish in the control plots, but grew to a near complete vegetative cover on the amended plots. The most effective treatment in decreasing grass metal concentrations in the first year was 5% red mud, but by year two all amendments were equally effective. In an additional pot experiment, P application in combination with red mud or lime decreased the Pb concentration, but not total uptake of Pb in Festuca rubra compared to red mud alone. The results show that both red mud and lime can be used to remediate a heavily contaminated acid soil to allow re-vegetation. 相似文献

The ability of Brown Stock Washer (BSW) unbleached kraft pulp and Chemi-Thermo-Mechanical Pulp (CTMP) to sequester heavy metals was studied. The BSW pulp is chemically produced while the CTM one is produced by mechanical treatment aided by some chemicals. The two pulps were rendered in their protonated form and then equilibrated with two aqueous solutions of metals. One was ocean water and the other was a laboratory prepared solution of metal ions. Both pulps were able to remove metal ions from the solution in a one-stage procedure. The overall metal removal efficiency of CTMP was in general greater than that of the BSW pulp for the low concentration metals. 相似文献

By using a LKB2277 BioActivity Monitor (heat conduction microcalorimeter), stopped-flow method, the thermogenetic curves of Rhizopus nigricans growth at 25 degrees C inhibited by four kinds of heavy metal ions are determined, parameters such as growth rate constants k, inhibitory ratio I, half inhibitory concentration IC50 et al. are obtained. The experimental results show that heavy metal ions can inhibit Rhizopus nigricans growth obviously, low concentration of Cu2+ has promoting action. The inhibitory sequence is Cd2+ > Hg2+ > Pb2+ > Cu2+, half inhibitory concentration of them are Cd+ 0.8 micro g x ml(-1), Hg2+ 1.7 micro g x ml(-1), Pb2+ 48.0 micro g x ml(-1), Cu2+ 110 micro g x ml(-1). This microclorimetric bioassay for acute cellular toxicity is based on metabolic heat evolution from cultured cells. The assay is quantitative, inexpensive, and versatile; moreover, toxicological information can be obtained with cell from other species of interest. 相似文献

Iminodiacetic acid was immobilized on waste paper by chemical modification in order to develop a new type of adsorption gel for heavy metal ions. Adsorption behavior of the gel was investigated for a number of metal ions, specifically Cu(II), Pb(II), Fe(III), Ni(II), Cd(II), and Co(II) at acidic pH. From batch adsorption tests, the order of selectivity was found to be as follows: Cu(II) Fe(III) > Pb(II) > Ni(II) Co(II) > Cd(II). Column tests were carried out for pairs of metal ions to understand the separation and pre-concentration behavior of the gel. It was found that mutual separation of Ni(II) from Co(II) and that of Pb(II) from Cd(II) can be achieved at pH 3. Similarly, selective separation of Cu(II) from Cu(II)–Fe(III) and Cu(II)–Pb(II) mixtures at pH 1.5 and 2, respectively, was observed by using this new adsorption gel. In all cases, almost complete recovery of the adsorbed metal was confirmed by elution tests with HCl. 相似文献
