Iron electrodes were used for electrocoagulation (EC) treatment of wastewater from a dairy plant. Electrolysis time, pH, current density and distance between electrodes were considered to assess the removal efficiency of chemical oxygen demand (COD), total solids (TS) and their fractions and turbidity. Samples were collected from the effluent of a dairy plant using a sampling methodology proportional to the flow. The treatments were applied according to design factorial of half fraction with two levels of treatments and three repetitions at the central point. The optimization of parameters for treating dairy industry effluent by electrocoagulation using iron electrodes showed that electric current application for 15 minutes, an initial sample pH close to neutral (pH 7.0) and a current density of 50 A . m?2 resulted in a significant reduction in COD by 58 %; removal of turbidity, suspended solids and volatile suspended solids by 95 %; and a final treated effluent pH of approximately 9.5. Negative consequences of the type of electrode used were the emergence of an undesirable color and an increase in the proportion of dissolved solids in the treated effluent.  相似文献

The electrocoagulation (EC) process is an electrochemical means of introducing coagulants and removing suspended solids, colloidal material, and metals, as well as other dissolved solids from water and wastewaters. The EC process has been successfully employed in removing pollutants, pesticides, and radionuclides. This process also removes harmful microorganisms. More often during EC operation, direct current is applied and electrode plates are sacrificed (dissolved into solution). The dissolution causes an increased metal concentration in the solution that finally precipitates as oxide precipitates. Due to improved process design and material of construction, the EC process is being widely accepted over other physicochemical processes. Presently, this process has gained attention due to its ability to treat large volume and for its low cost. The aim of this study is to review the mechanism, affecting factors, process, and application of the electrocoagulation process.  相似文献

A wheat straw biofilter was evaluated for attenuating pollutants in dairy (milkhouse and milking parlor) wastewater. During the 14-day study, the biofilter was operated in a sequential aerobic-anaerobic mode in a temperature range of 8-14 degrees C. While the biofilter was very effective (89% removal) in attenuating total suspended solids and moderately effective (76% removal) in attenuating oil and grease, its effectiveness in attenuating chemical oxygen demand was low (37% removal). The biofilter was ineffective in attenuating nitrate, while its effectiveness in attenuating ammonium (20% removal) and total Kjeldahl nitrogen (15% removal) was low. The biofilter was not effective in attenuating ortho-phosphate, total phosphorus, and fecal coliform. Though microbial degradation accounted for some pollutant removal, filtration seemed to be the primary mechanism. Lower temperature of operation and high oil and grease concentration (that reduced nutrient transfer to the biofilm) decreased microbial activity, reducing pollutant attenuation. Biofilter performance could be enhanced by using residual heat in the wastewater to raise the operating temperature of the biofilter and by removing oil and grease prior to applying the wastewater to the biofilter.  相似文献

平整液废水作为碱性含油废水,一直是冶金行业较难处理的废水之一。搭建了一套厌氧动态膜生物反应器(AnDMBR),通过梯级驯化的方式,处理COD为2 500 mg·L-1左右的平整液废水。经过88 d的启动驯化,在膜通量为6 L·(m2·h)-1,HRT为2.5 d的条件下,出水稳定在500 mg·L-1左右,甲烷产率约0.151 L·g-1,动态膜的一个运行周期可以分为成膜阶段、稳定阶段和堵塞阶段3个阶段。成膜阶段出水浊度随动态膜的逐渐形成而下降;而后动态膜形成,出水浊度稳定,为稳定阶段;最后为堵塞阶段,跨膜压差激增,出水浊度上升。同时对驯化及稳定运行阶段的污泥进行了微生物菌群分析,在细菌群落中主要的微生物菌群为Clostridia(梭状芽胞杆菌纲)、Bacteroidia(拟杆菌纲)、Anaerolineae(厌氧绳菌纲)、OP8_1和Spirochaetes(螺旋体纲),其中拟杆菌纲是处理平整液废水的优势细菌菌群。在古菌群落中,Methanolinea(甲烷绳菌属)和Methanosaeta(甲烷鬃毛菌属)为主要菌种,随着反应器的长期驯化和运行,甲烷鬃毛菌逐渐成为反应器中优势菌群。  相似文献

This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of commercially available engineered iron oxide nanoparticles coated with a surfactant (ENPFe-surf) on effluent water quality from a lab-scale sequencing batch reactor as a model secondary biological wastewater treatment. Results showed that ∼8.7% of ENPFe-surf applied were present in the effluent stream. The stable presence of ENPFe-surf was confirmed by analyzing the mean particle diameter and iron concentration in the effluent. Consequently, aqueous ENPFe-surf deteriorated the effluent water quality at a statistically significant level (p < 0.05) with respect to soluble chemical oxygen demand, turbidity, and apparent color. This implied that ENPFe-surf would be introduced into environmental receptors through the treated effluent and could potentially impact them.  相似文献

采用DBF-BAF工艺处理焦化废水,考察不同硝化液循环比条件下系统的脱氮除碳效果,通过分析循环比对各反应器内的氮赋存反应、COD去除特性的影响,探究其对DBF-BAF工艺处理焦化废水时脱氮除碳效能的影响机制。结果表明:适当增大循环比,有利于系统脱氮除碳,在300%的最佳循环比下,系统对COD、NH4+-N、有机氮和TN的平均去除率分别为87.57%、97.34%、99.18%和79.97%,出水NH4+-N稳定达到5.00 mg·L-1以下;循环比通过改变各反应器进水COD、NO3--N、NH4+-N、有机氮和DO浓度来影响其内的碳氧化反应和氮素的转化与去除,进而影响系统的脱氮除碳效能。  相似文献

Slaughterhouse wastewaters contain varied and high amounts of organic matter (e.g., proteins, blood, fat). In order to produce an effluent suitable for stream discharge, electrochemical techniques have been particularly explored at the laboratory pilot scale for organic compounds removal from poultry slaughterhouse (PS) effluent. Electrocoagulation (EC) process was tested using either mild steel or aluminium electrodes arranged in bipolar (BP) or monopolar configuration system. Results showed that the best performance was obtained using mild steel BP electrode system operated at a current intensity of 0.3A, through 60 or 90 min of treatment. Under these conditions, removals of 86+/-1% and 99+/-1% were measured for BOD and oil and grease, respectively, whereas soluble COD and total COD were removed by 50+/-4% and 82+/-2%, respectively. EC is also efficient for decolorization (red-color) and clarification of the PS effluent. Removals of 89+/-4% and 90+/-4% have been measured for total suspended solids and turbidity, respectively. Electrochemical coagulation operated under the optimal conditions involves a total cost of 0.71 USD $ per cubic meter of treated PS effluent. This cost includes energy and electrode consumptions, chemicals, and sludge disposal.  相似文献

A lead-ion cementation system was investigated using an iron sphere-packed bed. The extent of lead removal and excess iron consumption in similar conditions to those of lead-bearing wastewater was determined experimentally. Determinations were made for packed spheres of several diameters, beds of different lengths, and different flow conditions. The experimental data were compared by means of rate coefficients and were correlated with empirical equations. The efficiency of lead removal was tested using wastewater from the manufacture of storage batteries.  相似文献

This work presents and discusses experimental results on the characterisation and metal leaching potential of a biogenic, metal-rich sulphidic sludge, generated in a sulphate-reducing bioreactor, operated to treat acidic synthetic solutions bearing Fe, Zn, Ni and Cu. The sustainability of the metal removal bioprocess strongly depends on the fate of the sludge. To propose appropriate management practices, a detailed characterisation of the sludge is necessary. The granulometry, chemical composition and mineralogy of the sludge were initially determined. The mobility of the metals was assessed via a modified Tessier experimental procedure. The leachability of the sludge metal content was determined via a standard compliance method (EN 12457-2) and experiments designed to evaluate the effect of pH and time on metal leaching from the sludge. The sludge metal content sums up to 69.5% dw, namely iron (14.8%), zinc (18.7%), nickel (17.7%) and copper (18.2%) and, based on the criteria set by European Union, the sludge is characterised as hazardous and inappropriate for landfilling without any pretreatment. The sludge consists mainly of very fine poorly crystalline aggregates of Fe, Zn, Cu and Ni sulphides. The fine grain size, the poorly crystalline structure and the oxidation of sulphide upon exposure to water/air render the high metal content of the sludge recoverable.  相似文献

A constructed wetland system in Guangdong Province, South of China has been used for treating Pb/Zn mine discharge since 1985. The performance in the purification of the mine discharge and the concurrent ecosystem development within the system during the period of 1985-2000 has been studied. The untreated wastewater contained rather high concentrations of cadmium (Cd) (0.05 mg L(-1)), lead (Pb) (11.5 mg L(-1)), and zinc (Zn) (14.5 mg L(-1)), which greatly exceed the upper limits for industrial wastewater discharge in China. The constructed wetland system effectively removed Cd by 94.00%, Pb by 99.04%, Zn by 97.30%, and total suspended solids (TSS) by 98.95% from the mine discharge over a long period (over 16 years) leading to significant improvement in water quality; it was also found that there were no significantly annual or monthly variations in pH values, As, Cd, Hg, Pb, and Zn concentrations in water collected from the outlet of the wetland. Moreover, diversity and abundance of living organisms, including protozoan, higher plants, terrestrial animals, and birds, increased gradually. The 16-year monitoring results showed a reciprocal relationship, at a certain extent, between restoration of the wetland ecosystem, in other words, the maturity of the wetland, and the long-term efficiency and stability on purifying heavy metal-contaminated wastewater.  相似文献

The present paper provides an overview of mercury studies performed in the Mediterranean Sea region in the framework of several research projects funded by the European Commission and on-going national programmes carried out during the last 15 years. These studies investigated the temporal and spatial distribution of mercury species in air, in the water column and sediments, and the transport mechanisms connecting them. It was found that atmospheric concentrations of Hg compounds, particularly oxidised Hg species observed at five coastal sites in the Mediterranean Sea Basin, are significantly higher compared with those recorded at five coastal sites distributed across N Europe, most probably due to natural emissions. Hg levels in water are comparable to other oceans. Anthropogenic and natural point sources show locally limited enrichments, while natural diffusive sources influence Hg speciation over larger areas. Results and statistic comparison of mercury species concentrations within Mediterranean compartments will be presented and discussed.  相似文献

城市污水处理厂作为城市污水处理的重要承担者,其处理能力不足势必会对下游水体产生严重影响,也给水体的再生利用带来了难度,污水处理厂的去除效率变得尤为关注。以2014年3-12月天津市某污水处理厂氮的监测数据为基础,对其脱氮效率进行了评价。结果表明:污水处理厂脱氮效率偏低,总氮平均去除率为55.61%,且出水仅达到二级排放标准(GB 18918-2002),水厂进水C/N、水温对总氮的去除效率影响很大;水厂氨氮的平均去除率为87.40%,其去除率受进水NH4+-N浓度影响很大,水厂对高浓度的进水NH4+-N(大于70 mg/L)去除效率偏低,而进水NH4+-N小于60 mg/L时,出水NH4+-N基本能满足一级A排放标准(GB 18918-2002);水厂出水的亚硝态氮含量很高,其主要受溶解氧和C/N的影响;水厂对有机氮的去除效果不佳,需要采用深度处理技术。  相似文献

为了研究了不同COD组分进水对A/O工艺中反硝化的影响以及COD组分中溶解性易生物降解COD(SS)、颗粒性慢速可生物降解COD (XS)比例改变后系统反硝化速率和反硝化潜力的变化。以连续流A/O反应器脱氮效率为研究对象,通过改变碳源物质投配量来配置3种SS比例分别为15%、30%和50%的城市污水,系统地考察了进水中SS比例对反硝化的影响。结果表明,进水中SS比例由15%增加到50%后,可以明显提高A/O系统TN的去除率,脱氮率由82%提高到89%。同时通过缺氧反硝化间歇实验,从反硝化动力学角度分析,进一步确定进水中SS比例对反硝化速率和反硝化潜力的影响,发现进水SS比例分别为50%、30%和15%,系统反硝化速率分别为0.027 g NO3--N/(g VSS·min )、0.022 g NO3--N/(g VSS· min )和0.020 g NO3--N/(g VSS·min ),反硝化潜力分别为16.49、13.99和13.74 mg/L。可见随着进水中SS比例的升高,系统中反硝化速率和反硝化潜力也相应增加。得出进水中COD组分不同,尤其是SS所占比例大小,是影响反硝化效果的一个关键因素。  相似文献

以城市污水厂活性污泥为原料,用3 mol/L ZnCl2溶液活化,通入水蒸气作活化气制备活性炭吸附剂.实验结果表明,温度为600℃条件下,活化时间为1 h,制得的活性炭其碘吸附值为374.10 mg/g,比表面积为381.62 m2/g,孔容积为0.25 cm3/g,微孔容积为0.11cm3/g.并进一步将生物质活性炭应用于染料废水的处理,考察了吸附时间、活性炭投加量和pH对色度及TOC的脱除效果的影响.室温下,酸性大红GR染料废水初始浓度为300 mg/L,污泥活性炭的最佳投加量为2%(质量分数),吸附15min,废水色度脱除率可达99.6%,TOC去除率可达99.7%,利用等温吸附实验作吸附等温线,吸附等温线可以用Freundlich或Langmuir方程描述.  相似文献

以铅锌矿浮选尾矿为原料,水玻璃和木质素作为添加剂,通过高温焙烧,制备水处理陶粒,并用其对选矿废水进行了吸附处理实验研究。实验结果表明,在不添加任何添加剂的条件下,800℃左右烧制的陶粒对选矿废水的COD吸附效果较好,COD去除率达到87.1%;当木质素+水玻璃作为粘结剂烧制陶粒时,不仅陶粒散落减少,COD的去除率和吸附容量都有所增加,COD去除率达到了88.21%,从而达到了"以废治废"的目的。  相似文献
