The effect of high concentrations of sulphate on the reductive decolourisation of different azo dyes by anaerobic sludge was studied in batch cultures. Sludge cultures were pre-incubated under sulphate-reducing conditions prior addition of dyes. Little or no effects of sulphate (5-10 g sulphate l(-1)) on the rate of decolourisation of Reactive Orange 14 (RO14), Direct Blue 53 (DB53) and Direct Blue 71 (DB71) were observed when no external redox mediator was provided. However, an increase in sulphate concentration, in the presence of riboflavin (20 microM), enhanced the decolourisation of all dyes. The first-rate constant of decolourisation (k) was increased up to 2-, 3.6- and 2-fold for RO14, DB53 and DB71, respectively, by supplying high sulphate concentrations, compared to the controls lacking sulphate, in the presence of the redox mediator. Sulphate reduction did not take place during the course of azo reductions, but was only evident before dye addition and after complete decolourisation, suggesting azo dyes reduction out-competed sulphate reduction for the available reducing equivalents. The experimental data suggest that reduction of azo dyes by riboflavin, which had been reduced by biogenic sulphide, was the major mechanism implicated during decolourisations, which was corroborated by abiotic incubations. Riboflavin greatly accelerated the abiotic reduction of RO14, so that the k value was increased up to 44-fold compared to the control lacking riboflavin.  相似文献

偶氮染料是印染工艺中应用最广泛的一类染料,目前染料废水脱色是污水处理难题。亚铁混凝处理染料废水过程中可能存在亚铁的还原作用,本实验制备了比溶解态亚铁更具还原反应活性的亚铁羟基络合物(ferrous hydroxycomplex,FHC),以5种不同类型的水溶性偶氮染料为目标污染物,研究FHC还原水溶性偶氮染料的脱色性能。实验结果表明,FHC对活性艳红X-3B、酸性大红GR和阳离子红X-GRL有较好的还原脱色效果,仅投加含铁89.6 mg/L的FHC,染料脱色率达到90%以上,继续增大FHC投加量可以完全脱色;中性枣红GRL的FHC还原脱色效果较差,需加入313.6 mg/L的FHC才能达到90%以上脱色率;134.4 mg/L的FHC能够将直接耐酸大红4BS完全脱色,但其脱色主要以混凝沉淀为主;溶液pH对FHC的还原性能产生重要影响,FHC还原染料脱色的适宜的pH值范围为4~10。该研究为亲水性染料脱色提供了一种新的技术,也为FHC运用于印染废水脱色提供了理论基础。  相似文献

Azo dye decolourisation by anaerobic granular sludge   总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8  
The decolourisation of 20 selected azo dyes by granular sludge from an upward-flow anaerobic sludge bed (UASB) reactor was assayed. Complete reduction was found for all azo dyes tested, generally yielding colourless products. The reactions followed first-order kinetics and reaction rates varied greatly between dyes: half-life times ranged from 1 to about 100 h. The slowest reaction rates were found for reactive dyes with a triazine reactive group. There was no correlation between a dye's half-life time and its molecular weight, indicating that cell penetration was probably not an important factor. Since granular sludge contains sulphide, eight dyes were also monitored for direct chemical decolourisation by sulphide. All these dyes were reduced chemically albeit at slower rates than in the presence of sludge at comparable sulphide levels. Increasing sulphide concentrations, even when present in huge excess, stimulated the azo reduction rate. The results indicate that granular sludge can decolourise a broad spectrum of azo dye structures due to non-specific extracellular reactions. Reducing agents (e.g., sulphide) in sludge play an important role. The presence of anaerobic biomass is probably beneficial for maintaining the pools of these reduced compounds.  相似文献

The degradation of azo dyes by algae was evaluated and it was found that certain algae can degrade a number of azo dyes to some extent. The reduction rate appears to be related to the molecular structure of the dyes and the species of algae used. The azo reductase of algae is responsible for degrading azo dyes into aromatic amine by breaking the azo linkage. The aromatic amine is then subjected to further metabolism by algae. It is proposed in this paper that in stabilization ponds, algae can play a direct role in the degradation of azo dyes, rather than only providing oxygen for bacterial growth.  相似文献

Estrogenic activity by recombinant yeast screen assay of the commercial NP was considerably higher when compared with that of n-nonylphenol (n-NP). Fractionation of the commercial NP by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) afforded seven isomers: 4-(1,3-dimethyl-1-propyl-butyl)-phenol, 4-(1,1,3-trimethyl-hexyl)-phenol, 4-(1,1-dimethyl-3-ethyl-pentyl)-phenol, 4-(1,1,4-trimethyl-hexyl)-phenol, 4-(1-methyl-1-propyl-pentyl)-phenol, 4-(1,1,2-trimethyl-hexyl)-phenol and 4-(1-ethyl-1-methyl-hexyl)-phenol. The structures of these isomers were determined by GC-MS and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). All of these isomers possessed tertiary alpha-carbon in their chemical structures. Another tertiary NP, 4-(1,1-dimethyl-heptyl)-phenol was synthesized in the present study and this synthetic NP also exhibited the estrogenic activity. One fractionated compound was identified as one of decylphenol, 4-(1-ethyl-1,4,4-trimethyl-pentyl)-phenol. The isomer, 4-(1,1,4-trimethyl-hexyl)-phenol exhibited the highest estrogenic activity corresponding to 1/10000 that of 17beta-estradiol (E2). The activity of n-NP was the least. This suggests that it may be possible to develop a technical NP mixture with relatively low estrogenic activity.  相似文献

Release of amine products from azo compounds is of considerable interest, since most of the metabolized amine products have toxic and carcinogenic characters. Moreover, most of the azo dyes are extensively used as coloring agents in inks, textiles, leathers, food and pharmaceutical industries. The present study emphasis on the quantification and comparison of amines released from water soluble dyes by (i) extra cellular protein (ECP) of Streptomyces sp. SS07 and by (ii) chemical methods. It has been observed that both the methods release considerable quantities of similar type of amine products. Release of amine compounds by ECP and chemical reduction in acid and alkaline sweat medium from a leather garment sample was also assessed. ECP (0.7852 mg protein/mg of ECP) releases benzidine and 4-amino biphenyl from Direct Black 38 and Direct Brown 1 as stable products at pH 9.2 and at 37 degrees C for a contact period of 24 h. On comparison with chemical reduction, it was observed that about 5-20% increase in the release of amine products by ECP was observed. However, more than 60% of amine products were released by chemical method from leather garment samples than direct treatment with ECP.  相似文献

The objective of this research is to evaluate an integrated system coupling zero-valent iron (Fe(0)) and aerobic biological oxidation for the treatment of azo dye wastewater. Zero-valent (elemental) iron can reduce the azo bond, cleaving dye molecules into products that are more amenable to aerobic biological treatment processes. Azo dye reduction products, including aniline and sulfanilic acid, were shown to be readily biodegradable at concentrations up to approximately 25 mg/L. Batch reduction and biodegradation data support the proposed integrated iron pretreatment and activated sludge process for the degradation of the azo dyes orange G and orange I. The integrated system was able to decolorize dye solutions and yield effluents with lower total organic carbon concentrations than control systems without iron pretreatment. The success of the bench-scale integrated system suggests that iron pretreatment may be a feasible approach to treat azo dye containing wastewaters.  相似文献

Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) have been used as emerging wastewater treatment technologies which can effectively handle various hazardous organics in wastewater and groundwater. The photooxidation of two non-biodegradable azo dyes, acid red 1 and acid yellow 23, were studied in an UV/hydrogen peroxide photochemical reactor with a 5 kW low pressure mercury lamp. It was observed that the decomposition of both azo dyes were pseudo-first order reactions with respect to the azo dye concentrations. Simultaneously, the effects of hydrogen peroxide dosage, pH, initial concentration of the azo dyes and intensity of UV light were also studied. Moreover, the time required for the 50% removal of azo dyes and observed pseudo-first order rate constants were used as parameters to show the efficiency of azo dye treatment.  相似文献

The reaction system containing Cu(II), hydrogen peroxide and D-arabinono-1,4-lactone was found to be effective in the decolorization and reduction of toxicity of azo, thiazine-, triphenylmethane- and anthraquinone-based synthetic dyes. More than 85% decolorization was obtained with 100ppm Acridine Orange, Azure B, Chicago Sky Blue 6B, Crystal Violet, Evans Blue, Poly B-411, Reactive Blue 2, Reactive Blue 5, and Remazol Brilliant Blue R incubated for 24h in the presence of 10mM CuSO(4), 20mM D-arabinono-1,4-lactone and 80 mM H(2)O(2). The rate of decolorization was not affected by pH in the range of 3-9. The rapid decolorization was accompanied by a fast decomposition of H(2)O(2) in the reaction mixture and by a fast production of hydroxyl radicals.  相似文献

The chemical degradation of synthetic azo dyes color index (C.I.) Acid Orange 7, C.I. Direct Orange 39, and C.I. Mordant Yellow 10 has been studied by the following advanced oxidation processes: Fenton, Fenton-like, ozonation, peroxone without or with addition of solid particles, zeolites HY, and NH4ZSM5. Spectrophotometric (UV/visible light spectrum) and total organic carbon measurements were used for determination of process efficiency and reaction kinetics. The degradation rates are evaluated by determining their rate constants. The different hydroxyl radical generation processes were comparatively studied, and the most efficient experimental conditions for the degradation of organic azo dyes solutions were determined.  相似文献

Decolorization and inhibition kinetic characteristics of two azo dyes namely Reactive Black 5 (RB 5) and Direct Brown 2 (DB 2) were investigated with partially granulated anaerobic mixed culture using glucose (3000 mg l(-1) COD) as carbon source and electron donor during batch incubation. Monod, zero-, first-, and second-order reaction kinetic models were tested in order to determine the most suitable rate model of substrate and color removal kinetic. The course of the decolorization and substrate removal process approximates to first-order kinetic model under batch conditions. Decolorization, and substrate removal were achieved effectively under test conditions but ultimate removal of azo dyes and substrate were not observed at high dye concentrations. Aromatic amine and volatile fatty acid accumulation were observed proportionally at a higher azo dye concentration. A competitive kinetic model that describes the anaerobic co-metabolism of increasing RB 5 and DB 2 dye concentrations with glucose as co-substrate has been developed based on the experimental data.  相似文献

We have made a comparison of the UV-VIS spectra of three azo dyes, C. I. reactive red 2, orange II and C. I. reactive black 8, in aqueous solutions during treatment with iron powder reduction and photooxidation. From this, we propose their mechanisms for reduction photooxidation. GC/MS analyses of the degradation products of the dye C. Certain aromatic amines generated by the decolorization of some azo dyes are not removed substantially by conventional anaerobic–aerobic biotreatment. These aromatic amines are potentially toxic and often released in the wastewater of industrial plants. In this study, the fate and transformation of the naphthylaminesulfonic azo dye Reactive Black 5 (RB5) during different phases of a sequencing batch reactor were investigated. The major products of RB5 decolorization during the anaerobic phase include 2-[(4-aminophenyl)sulfonyl]ethyl hydrogen sulfate (APSEHS) and 1-2-7-triamino-8-hydroxy-3-6-naphthalinedisulfate (TAHNDS). During the aerobic phase, APSEHS was hydrolyzed and produced 4-aminobenzenesulfonic acid, which was further degraded via dearomatization. TAHNDS was transformed rapidly via auto-oxidation into TAHNDSDP-1 and TAHNDSDP-2, which were not further removed by the activated sludge during the entire 30-day aerobic phase. In contrast, different behaviors of TAHNDS were observed during the anoxic phase. The transformation of TAHNDS was initiated either by deamination or desulfonation reaction. TAHNDS was then converted into 3,5-diamino-4-hydroxynaphthalene-2-sulfonic acid, which was subsequently removed via ring cleavage reaction under aerobic condition. In conclusion, complete degradation of TAHNDS by activated sludge occurs only during anoxic/aerobic processes instead of the conventional anaerobic/aerobic processes.  相似文献

The photodegradation and biodegradability have been investigated for four non-biodegradable commercial azo dyes, Reactive YellowKD-3G, Reactive Red 15, Reactive Red 24, Cationic Blue X-GRL, an indicator. Methyl Orange, and one industrial wool textile wastewater, using TiO2 suspensions irradiated with a medium pressure mercury lamp. The color removal of dyes solution and dyeing wastewater reached to above 90% within 20-30 min. of photocatalytic treatment. Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) was found to increase, while chemical oxygen demand (COD), total organic carbon (TOC) decreased, so that the ratio of BOD5/COD of the wastewater increased from original zero up to 0.75. The result implies that photocatalytic oxidation enhanced the biodegradability of the dye-containing wastewater and therefore relationship between decolorization and biodegradability exists. When the color disappeared completely, the wastewater biodegraded normally and could be discharged for further treatment. The experimental results demonstrate that it is possible to combine photocatalysis with conventional biological treatment for the remedy of wastewater containing generally non-biodegradable azo dyes.  相似文献

以沼泽红假单胞菌W1为研究对象,考察了厌氧条件下硫酸盐还原对活性黑5(Reactive Black 5,RB5)和直接黄11(Direct Yellow 11,DY11)生物脱色的影响。结果表明,硫酸盐本身对2种染料脱色无明显影响,而硫酸盐的还原产物———硫化物能通过氧化还原介体使2种染料化学脱色,其脱色过程能在3 min内迅速完成。在无介体加入的情况下,硫化物能够通过RB5自身产生的介体加速RB5的脱色;而对于不能产生氧化还原介体的DY11,硫化物对其脱色无明显影响。硫化物经染料氧化后形成的硫单质能够被菌株W1重新转化为硫化物,继续还原染料。  相似文献

The operational parameters and mechanism of mineralization of C.I. Reactive Yellow 84 (RY84), one of the azo dyes, in aqueous solution were investigated using sonolytic ozonation (US/O(3) oxidation). Of the pseudo-first-order degradation rate constants of TOC reduction, 9.0 x 10(-4), 7.3 x 10(-3) and 1.8 x 10(-2)min(-1) were observed with US, O3, and a combination of US and O3, respectively. These results illustrate that ozonation combined with sonolysis for removal of TOC is more efficient than ozonation alone or ultrasonic irradiation alone without considering the operating costs. With the initial pH value at 10.0, the ozone dose at 4.5 g h(-1), the energy density of ultrasound at 176 W l(-1), and the initial concentration of RY84 at 100 mg l(-1), the extent of mineralization measured as TOC loss was maximized. The variation of the concentrations of related ions (oxalate, formate, acetate, NO3(-), NO2(-), NH4(+), Cl(-), and SO4(2-)) during the reaction process was monitored. Other organic intermediates detected by GC/MS were N-methyleneaniline, phthalic acid, 4-hydroxyphthalic acid, isocyanatobenzene, aniline, 4-iminocyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-one, butene diacid and urea. Based on these findings, a tentative degradation pathway was proposed.  相似文献

在含有真菌G 1培养液中加入染料厂污水排放口的污泥样品 ,从发生快速脱色降解染料的混合培养液中分离出 2株染料脱色细菌L_1和L_2 ,经API鉴定系统鉴定 ,确定菌株L_1为Enterobactersp .,菌株L_2为Peudomonassp .。研究比较了单一和不同组合混合的真菌G_1菌株 (Penicilliumsp .)、细菌L_1菌株 (Enterobactersp .)和L_2菌株 (Pseu domonassp .)对偶氮染料红M - 3BE(C .I .ReactiveRed 2 41)和蒽醌染料艳蓝KN -R(C .1.ReactiveBlue 19)的去除情况 ,发现G - 1真菌和 2种细菌组合的共培养体系对 5 0mg/L红M - 3BE和艳蓝KN -R处理 5h去除率达 10 0 %和 97.9% ,并且是以脱色降解作用为主 ,建立了染料脱色降解菌的最佳组合 ;进一步测定了此最佳共培养体系对另外 13种不同结构染料的脱色降解 ,结果表明 ,除对蒽醌染料R - 478脱色降解较差外 ,对其他染料均可在lh— 3d被完全脱色降解 ,表现出脱色降解染料的广谱性 ;向培养 4d的共培养体系中依次加入 8种染料 ,菌体可对染料连续脱色 ,维持脱色能力达 8d左右  相似文献
