Because of climatic reasons and of reduced concentrations of SO2, ground-level ozone (O3) is one of the main air pollutants in Southern Europe. Ozone levels are very high both in rural and urban locations. In the cities, O3 can affect human health and materials. Regarding materials, most relevant is the exposure to pollutants of cultural heritage buildings. In particular, monuments registered on UNESCO's list of the world heritage require special monitoring. In Italy 34% and 97% of the territory is exposed to corrosion risk higher than the tolerable level for limestone and copper, respectively. The tolerable corrosion level for limestone and copper was also exceeded in the central area of Milan. In this area the tolerable O3 concentration for copper was calculated. These concentrations (ranging between 30 and 40 μg/m3) cannot be exceeded at unchanged concentration of other pollutants to maintain corrosion levels below the tolerable ones.  相似文献

A review and analysis of the meteorological literature on fully developed adiabatic boundary layers is presented.Many inconsistencies are shown to have existed in earlier presentations and reviews, particularly with respect to quantifying the power indices and turbulence intensities appropriate to rougher terrains, and the variation of the turbulence length scales with height and terrain type. These are resolved by defining from the data four distinct terrain types. The variation of the power index, turbulence intensity and Reynolds stresses with these terrain types is shown to follow the same law. It is also shown that the longitudinal length scale of turbulence decreases with increase of terrain roughness: a simple law is also proposed for its variation with both height and terrain type.  相似文献

Tapered element oscillating microbalances (TEOMs) are used in the UK Automatic Monitoring Network for the continuous measurement of ambient airborne particles. Used TEOM filters from Swansea, Cardiff and Pembroke were examined under high-resolution field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). Clusters of calcium sulphate crystals, gypsum (CaSO4·2H2O) and anhydrite (CaSO4) were abundant on spring and summer filters, and not present on autumn and winter filters. From textural considerations, the sulphates must have crystallised on the filter surfaces, either by dissolution and recrystallisation of CaSO4 collected as particles, or by direct precipitation from saline water collected on the filters; in much the same way as the formation of ‘desert roses’ by the evaporation of saline pore waters in desert sands. The proposed mechanism for the formation of these crystals has two important implications. Firstly, if the filters are episodically saturated with water, then on occasion the recorded masses will consist of both particles plus water, causing errors in the results of continuous monitoring; an important consideration for epidemiological studies based on TEOM data. Secondly, past toxicological experiments undertaken on TEOM-derived ‘PM10’ may have investigated material containing a significant component of in situ formed crystals, rather than the original PM10.  相似文献

Nowadays, the market competition becomes increasingly fierce due to diversified customer needs, stringent environmental requirements, and global competitors. One of the most important factors for companies to not only survive but also thrive in today’s competitive market is their logistics performance. This paper aims, through a systematic literature analysis of 115 papers from 2012 to 2020, at presenting quantitative insights and comprehensive overviews of the current and future research landscapes of sustainable logistics in the Industry 4.0 era. The results show that Industry 4.0 technologies provide opportunities for improving the economic efficiency, environmental performance, and social impact of logistics sectors. However, several challenges arise with this technological transformation, i.e., trade-offs among different sustainability indicators, unclear benefits, lifecycle environmental impact, inequity issues, and technology maturity. Thus, to better tackle the current research gaps, future suggestions are given to focus on the balance among different sustainability indicators through the entire lifecycle, human-centric technological transformation, system integration and digital twin, semi-autonomous transportation solutions, smart reverse logistics, and so forth.
