This study aims to shed light on the elements that can influence the performance of green businesses, more specifically organizations active within the recycling business. After defining and identifying green businesses, the paper focuses on the Italian recycling business, examining whether the green practices and features of a green business can influence the organization's performance. Using a quantitative methodology with a sample of 87 Italian organizations whose core business is recycling and applying a model of multiple linear regression, the findings highlight several variables that affect the economic results. The originality of this study lies in the link between green practices and green businesses, exploring which structures are efficient and are driving elements of these recycling organizations. Proactive corporations have been looking at methods to determine the real costs of doing business, including environmental costs using environmental cost accounting (ECA) methodology. Many companies do not track or measure environmental costs and therefore do not know their true environmental costs. Unfortunately, conventional accounting practices rarely tease out environmental costs, and the costs associated with environmental compliance remain hidden in general overhead accounts. ECA can bring the world of business and the environment closer. When we have a better handle on environmental costs, we can use this information to better prioritize environmental projects, identify cost improvement projects, and allocate environmental costs to products. Food production and consumption cause significant environmental burdens during the product life cycles. As a result of intensive
development and the changing social attitudes and behaviors in the last century, the agrofood sector is the highest resource
consumer after housing in the EU. This paper is part of an effort to estimate environmental impacts associated with life cycles
of the agrofood chain, such as primary energy consumption, water exploitation, and global warming. Life cycle assessment is
used to investigate the production of the following citrus-based products in Italy: essential oil, natural juice, and concentrated
juice from oranges and lemons. The related process flowcharts, the relevant mass and energy flows, and the key environmental
issues are identified for each product. This paper represents one of the first studies on the environmental impacts from cradle
to gate for citrus products in order to suggest feasible strategies and actions to improve their environmental performance.

A new method is presented to determine the optimum number and location of monitoring stations in an air pollution network. The selection of the monitoring stations is based on the spatial representativity of the sites. In particular, the spatial coefficient of the correlation between the pollutant concentrations in different receptors is considered with regard to different meteorological scenarios. Understanding spatial variability in contaminant fate and transport is critical to efficient regional water‐quality restoration. An approach to capitalize on previously calibrated spatially referenced regression (SPARROW) models to improve the understanding of contaminant fate and transport was developed and applied to the case of nitrogen in the 166,000 km2 Chesapeake Bay watershed. A continuous function of four hydrogeologic, soil, and other landscape properties significant (α = 0.10) to nitrogen transport from uplands to streams was evaluated and compared among each of the more than 80,000 individual catchments (mean area, 2.1 km2) in the watershed. Budgets (including inputs, losses or net change in storage in uplands and stream corridors, and delivery to tidal waters) were also estimated for nitrogen applied to these catchments from selected upland sources. Most (81%) of such inputs are removed, retained, or otherwise processed in uplands rather than transported to surface waters. Combining SPARROW results with previous budget estimates suggests 55% of this processing is attributable to denitrification, 23% to crop or timber harvest, and 6% to volatilization. Remaining upland inputs represent a net annual increase in landscape storage in soils or biomass exceeding 10 kg per hectare in some areas. This diary study examines the psychological processes that contribute to daily recovery from emotional labor by combining emotion regulation with work‐home resources theories. We hypothesized that overall perceptions of display rules relate positively to daily deep and surface acting. Daily surface acting was expected to relate positively to exhaustion and negatively to flow during work and consequently, to a higher need for recovery at the end of the workday. In contrast, daily deep acting was hypothesized to relate positively to flow and negatively to exhaustion and consequently, to a lower need for recovery at the end of the workday. In turn, need for recovery was expected to associate negatively to vigor at bedtime through reduced relaxation during leisure. Fifty Dutch and Polish employees first filled in a survey, and then a diary for five consecutive workdays, twice per day: at the end of the workday and before sleep. Multilevel path analyses largely supported these hypotheses suggesting that surface acting has unfavorable implications, whereas deep acting has favorable implications for daily well‐being at work and recovery after work. 相似文献
