The removal of steroid and phenolic endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs) from an aqueous environment was investigated using magnetic particles encapsulated by a duo-molecularly imprinted polymer (duo-MIP). The effect of environmental variables on the binding efficiency was studied. Experimental results showed that the amount of EDCs adsorbed was neither affected by up to 10.0 mM NaCl nor significantly interfered by up to 10.0 mg/L humic acid. Negligible influence was observed from pH 3.3 to pH 6.8, but a decrease started at pH 9. Freundlich isotherm parameters indicated binding capacities in the order of DES?>?E2?~?E1?>?BPA. The applicability of class-selective removal was verified using river water samples spiked with these EDCs at 10 μg/L; the binding efficiencies were 90, 90, 88, and 98 % for estrone (E1), 17β-estradiol (E2), bisphenol A (BPA), and diethylstilbestrol (DES), respectively. A reuse investigation verified constant binding capacities exhibiting <2 % reduction after seven cycles of regeneration. 相似文献

Fifteen bottled mineral waters purchased at random all over Turkey were analyzed for their chemical composition by OPTIMA-2000
ICP-AES Perkin Elmer techniques. Results show a wide spread in the chemical specification of these mineral waters, with differences
in chemical composition observed in the regions being due to the geological environment and the majority of bottled mineral
waters exceeding the pH limit of Turkish drinking water standards. When the concentrations of elements are evaluated, it can
readily be seen that generally there are three types of mineral water in Turkey. The concentrations of Al, B, Ba, Cd, Cu,
Cr, Fe, Mn Pb and Zn in mineral water were compared with the limits established by the Turkish Standard for Natural Mineral
Waters (Turkish Official Gazette 2004); water standards prepared by World Health Organization (2006) and the United States of America Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) drinking water standards (1993). Such a comparison shows that, except for Ba and Mn, the concentrations of the other heavy metals are lower than the limit

The soil erosion was studied by 137Cs technique in Yatagan basin in Western Turkey, where there exist intensive agricultural activities. This region is subject
to serious soil loss problems and yet there is not any erosion data towards soil management and control guidelines. During
the soil survey studies, the soil profiles were examined carefully to select the reference points. The soil samples were collected
from the slope facets in three different study areas (Kırtas, Peynirli and Kayısalan Hills). Three different models were applied
for erosion rate calculations in undisturbed and cultivated sites. The profile distribution model (PDM) was used for undisturbed
soils, while proportional model (PM) and simplified mass balance model (SMBM) were used for cultivated soils. The mean annual
erosion rates found using PDM in undisturbed soils were 15 t ha−1 year−1 at the Peynirli Hill and 27 t ha−1 year−1 at the Kırtas Hill. With the PM and SMBM in cultivated soils at Kayışalan, the mean annual erosion rates were obtained to
be 65 and 116 t ha−1 year−1, respectively. The results of 137Cs technique were compared with the results of the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE). 相似文献

To determine aluminum and zinc in Iranian consumed tea, 31 tea samples were analysed for Al and Zn concentration of tea leaves and tea infusion. The results show that average concentration of Al and Zn in tea leaves was 326 and 50.7 mg. Kg(-1) respectively in this regard Nemoneh and Shahrzad show the highest and lowest concentration respectively in term of Al, also Debsh and Alkozi follow same situation in Zn concentration. Also the solubility of metals in the first infusion was significantly (Al, Zn: P < 0.01) higher than the second infusion and the solubility in the second infusion was also significantly higher than the third infusion (Al: P < 0.01; Zn: P < 0.05). Al leachate in the first infusion (2 min) for Mosama and Seilan tea was highest and lowest respectively. Also in the second and third infusion (5 and 10 min) Golkis and Nemoneh tea show the highest and lowest figures respectively. On the other hand, data from Zn transfer in tea infusion in the first infusion show that Mosama and Ahmad Atry tea have the highest and lowest leachate percentage respectively, while in the second and third infusion Mosama and Golkis tea follow the same situation. Calculation of percentage 'available' Al and Zn to the human system showed that 1 l of tea can provide 37.2% of the daily dietary intake of Al, the percentage 'available' for absorption in the intestine is only 1.78% for overall mean Al concentration. Also daily dietary intake of Zn was 2.13% while percentage available for absorption in the intestine was 0.72%. 相似文献

Mutagenicity analysis of water samples from Camalti Saltern, Turkey were investigated by applying Salmonella mutagenicity test. Plate incorporation assay was applied in the absence of metabolic activation. XAD 4 and XAD 16 columns were used for the fractionation of the water samples. The results obtained were negative in both TA 98 and TA 100. Although the number of revertants of XAD 16 extract in station B were higher than the revertants in the other stations for TA 98 strain when compared to the solvent control. The adsorption of monochlorophenols (o-, m-, p-chlorophenol) on pumice, Zn/pumice and Cu/pumice has been studied through Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy in transmission mode. The data show that after Zn and Cu were supported on pumice, the adsorption of 4-chlorophenol is characterized by the bands at 1591, 1494, 1092 and 824 cm(-1). Adsorption process occurred via metal cations on the surface of pumice. Metal oxides on pumice can mediate binding of p-chlorophenol. 相似文献

The Istanbul Strait, which separates the European and the Asian parts of Istanbul, is one of the narrowest straits in the world that is used for international shipping. The Strait has very special ecological conditions in terms of marine environment (atmospheric/oceanographic conditions, plant and animal diversity) and terrestrial environment. It also has roles as biological corridor and biological barrier between the Mediterranean Sea and the Black Sea and form an acclimatization zone for migrating species. Due to being the only maritime access for the neighboring Black Sea states and the Central Asian Turki Republics, the Istanbul Strait has been exposed to dense marine traffic for centuries and substantial increase has occurred in size and tonnage of the ships passing through the Strait with hazardous cargo varieties and amounts they carry. Increase in the number of vessels that navigates on the Strait and being on the transportation way of hazardous and dangerous materials pose serious environmental and safety hazards for the Istanbul Strait, Marmara Sea and the surrounding residential areas. Geographic and oceanographic features of the Istanbul Strait makes the navigation on the Strait rather difficult and consequently the Strait has faced many casualties that caused severe environmental problems due to thousands tons of oil spill occurring in recent decades. 相似文献

In the present study the spatial and the vertical distributions of 210Pb were investigated in the soils around a uranifereous coal fired power plant (CPP) in Yatagan Basin, in Western Turkey. The variation of 226Ra activity along the soil profiles was studied to assess the unsupported 210Pb distribution in the same samples. 226Ra was measured by gamma spectroscopy and 210Pb activities were determined from 210Po activities using radiochemical deposition and alpha spectroscopy. The total 210Pb activity concentrations in bulk core samples varied in the range of 38-250 Bq kg(-1) in the study sites and of 22-78 Bq kg(-1) in reference site. In the sectioned cores sampled from the study areas the ranges for activity concentrations of 226Ra, total 210Pb and unsupported 210Pb are 24-77; 39-344 and 4-313 Bq kg(-1), respectively.
