Heavy metals (Fe, Mn, Cr, Ni, Cu, Cd, Pb, Sn) concentration has been determined on 39 coastal sediment samples collected in Albania. The relationship between the heavy metals content and the grain size has been considered. All metals, except Cu and Cd, resulted accumulated in the finest fraction, which constituted up to 95% of most of the considered sediments. A good correlation has been found for Ni, Cr, Fe, Zn, Cu in the entire area, indicating a common origin for these metals in the analyzed sediments. Concentration values fall in the range reported for Dinaric chain derived sediments, revealing, generally, a natural origin of the metal contents. Though in some selected areas such as the Drin and the Skumbin Bay, an antropogenic input of Cr, Fe, Ni and Cu can be observed, as the result of discharging of mines and smelter activities. 相似文献

A comparative study on the accumulation of inorganic mercury and methylmercury by the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis was based on nine days of exposure to 25 µg L?1 HgCl2 or to 2.5 µg L?1 methylmercury in laboratory microcosms. Mercury (Hg) content was evaluated in the gills, digestive gland, and mantle. A higher accumulation occurred in the gills than in other tissues. The effect of the sediment on the bioaccumulation of the Hg species was evaluated. The results showed that the sediment accumulated the inorganic Hg more efficiently than the methylmercury. In both cases, the bioaccumulation in the tissues was reduced. The observed differences emphasized the need for caution when field results are compared with the results of laboratory experiments. The fate of either inorganic or organic Hg was depicted considering the absolute total amount given and the amount found in all the matrices (organism, sediment, and seawater). 相似文献

Seven stations were sampled along a transect between Imperia and Cape Corso during the C.N.R. “Bannock” survey (8-10 October 1984).
The TSM, PC, PN, and chlorophyll-a concentrations are low and decrease with depth. The AOU values suggest that below 400 m the organic matter is completely inert to further oxidation. Heavy metals concentrations show marked differences in the surface water layer between coastal and offshore stations. The chemical characteristics of total suspended matter are more conservative as an index of waters of coastal origin than the quantity of particulate matter itself or metal concentrations. The Fe: Cd ratio in particles is of interest as an indicator of coastal waters. 相似文献

Dissolved Cu, Fe and Ni were determined in sea water samples from 9 stations in the Ligurian Sea located along the two traverses Imperia-Capo Corso and Nice-Calvi and at depths between 0 and 200 m. The samples were preconcentrated from small volumes of sea water by complexation with ammonium pyrrolidine-dithiocarbammate (APDC), extraction with CCl4 and determination by AAS with electrothermal atomisation. The geographical distribution shows that in the central part of the inner traverse there is a maximum of Cu and Fe concentration; the vertical distribution shows no significant depletion of the dissolved elements in the epithalassa.
The results allow for a first approach to the more general problem of the distribution of the trace elements in the Ligurian Sea. 相似文献
