Degradation of short-chain alkyl- and alkanolamines by TiO2- and Pt/TiO2-assisted photocatalysis 总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5
The photooxidation of C2H5NH2, (C2H5)2NH, HOC2H4NH2, (HOC2H4)2NH and (HOC2H4)3N using TiO2 and Pt/TiO2 as photocatalysts has been investigated. A laboratory set up was designed and a study on the influence of the concentration of the photocatalyst, the pH-value and the structure of the amine performed. The photocatalytic process was optimized with respect to the concentrations of the model substances during degradation. The decrease of the amine concentrations was found to be maximum at a pH of 10. The time-dependence of the formation of cationic breakdown products, such as NH3/NH4 and short-chain alkyl- and alkanolamines was studied by analyses with single column ion chromatography. The experimental data show that the photodegradation follows a Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic. The mineralization of the model substances also was monitored by measurements of the decrease of the TOC and of the formation of NO2 and NO3. The different mineralization efficiencies for the model substances studied are discussed with regard to their structure and adsorption behaviour on the photocatalyst. A possible breakdown mechanism involving the electrophilic attack of the hydroxyl radical is given. The applicability of the TiO2-assisted photocatalytic degradation of C2H5NH2 and (C2H5)2NH was tested at the pilot plant-scale with real solar radiation. The ability of Section 404 of the Clean Water Act to act as an effective, efficient, and equitable land-use planning tool
was assessed through a survey of Section 404 permits in Wisconsin. In a six-month period of permitting, the 404 program reduced
wetland losses in the state by 15%. Several factors were examined that may affect permit decisions; these factors are water
dependency, alternatives, project type, wetland type, and public or agency comments. Only the water dependency of the project
had a statistically significant effect on permit decisions, although development projects that were perceived to provide public
good were more likely to be permitted. Environmental impacts of a proposed fill project were not adequately assessed in any
of the permit decisions. Because of the way Section 404 is interpreted and administered by the US Army Corps of Engineers,
increasing net benefits and achieving an equitable distribution of those benefits is difficult. The corps does not perform
any functional evaluations of wetlands nor do they attempt to measure economic value and environmental impacts. In addition,
the 404 review process is, in effect, inaccessible to the public. The de facto interpretations of the Section 404 regulations

This paper argues that in modern (agro)biotechnology, (un)naturalness as an argument contributed to a stalemate in public debate about innovative technologies. Naturalness in this is often placed opposite to human disruption. It also often serves as a label that shapes moral acceptance or rejection of agricultural innovative technologies. The cause of this lies in the use of nature as a closed, static reference to naturalness, while in fact “nature” is an open and dynamic concept with many different meanings. We propose an approach for a dynamic framework that permits an integrative use of naturalness in debate, by connecting three sorts of meaning that return regularly in the arguments brought forward in debate; cultural, technological, and ecological. We present these as aspects of nature that are always present in the argument of naturalness. The approach proposes a dynamic relation between these aspects, formed by gradients of naturalness, which in turn are related to ethical concerns. In this way we come to an overview that makes it possible to give individual arguments a relative place and that does justice to the temporality of the concept of nature and the underlying ethical concerns stakeholders have in respect to innovation in agriculture. 相似文献

The migration of metals in tea brewed in metallic teapots was investigated. The teapots were obtained from North Africa stores in Brussels in 2005–2006 and in 2011. Chinese gunpowder green tea, the most commonly used tea in the Moroccan community, was used to prepare the tea. Tea brewed in metallic teapots was compared to tea brewed in a glass vessel in order to evaluate the contribution of the tea and the teapots to the metal concentrations in the brewed tea. Tea samples were also collected in Moroccan households and in tearooms in Brussels. The elements As, Cd, Pb, Sn, Mn, Fe, Cr, Co, Ni, Cr, Cu, Zn, and Al were analyzed by high-resolution sector field inductively coupled mass spectrometry. The relationship between the metal composition of the alloy of the teapot and the metal concentration in tea was also investigated. Migration of Pb and to a lesser amount Ni, Cu, and Zn was observed in brass teapots and migration of Cd from a number of stainless steel teapots was observed. The soldering connecting the sprout to the teapot was shown to be an important source of Pb to the tea. High levels of Mn and Al were also observed in the brewed tea and these elements where shown to originate from the tea itself. Metal exposure from tea drinking was calculated for different tea consumption levels and different metal concentration levels and compared to toxicological reference values. 相似文献
