In this work the parametric study on EDM process using ultrasonic assisted cryogenically cooled copper electrode (UACEDM) during machining of M2 grade high speed steel has been performed. Electrode wear ratio (EWR), material removal rate (MRR) and surface roughness (SR) was the three parameters observed. Discharge current, pulse on time, duty cycle and gap voltage were the controllable process variables. The effect of process variables on EWR, MRR and SR has been analyzed. The MRR, EWR and SR obtained in EDM process with normal electrode, cryogenically cooled electrode and ultrasonic assisted cryogenically cooled electrode have been compared. EWR and SR were found to be lower in UACEDM process as compared to conventional EDM for the same set of process parameters, while MRR was at par with conventional EDM process. The surface integrity of work piece machined by UACEDM process has been found to be better as compared to conventional EDM process. The shape of the electrode has also been measured and it was found that the shape retention was better in UACEDM process as compared to conventional EDM process. Thus in the present work UACEDM process has been established to be better than conventional EDM process due to better tool life, tool shape retention ability and better surface integrity. 相似文献

In the present study total 21 forest stands on different aspects and locations (Hill base, mid slope and ridge top) on the
slope were studied to assess the importance of these two parameters in supporting species regeneration and biodiversity in
a mixed broadleaved forest between 380 and 850 m elevation in the Kumauau Himalayan region. A total of 36 tree species were
recorded in the forest. In all aspects the tree, sapling and shrub richness was higher at hill base stands in comparison to
mid slope and ridge top stand. Maximum tree richness (average across all aspects) was 9.7 and shrub richness was 9.3. Higher
richness at hill base may be attributed to more soil moisture and deeper soils which accumulate the hill base where the slope
steepness declines. The tree richness was higher in the northern aspect whereas southern aspect was more suitable for the
shrub species. From the present study it becomes evident that the base of the hills can support higher biodiversity and are
instrumental in supporting regeneration of several tree and shrub species in sal mixed broadleaved forest. 相似文献

A study was conducted to investigate the effect of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst on mercury (Hg) speciation in bituminous and subbituminous coal combustion flue gases. Three different Illinois Basin bituminous coals (from high to low sulfur [S] and chlorine [Cl]) and one Powder River Basin (PRB) subbituminous coal with very low S and very low Cl were tested in a pilot-scale combustor equipped with an SCR reactor for controlling nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions. The SCR catalyst induced high oxidation of elemental Hg (Hg0), decreasing the percentage of Hg0 at the outlet of the SCR to values <12% for the three Illinois coal tests. The PRB coal test indicated a low oxidation of Hg0 by the SCR catalyst, with the percentage of Hg0 decreasing from approximately 96% at the inlet of the reactor to approximately 80% at the outlet. The low Cl content of the PRB coal and corresponding low level of available flue gas Cl species were believed to be responsible for low SCR Hg oxidation for this coal type. A collection of 50 indigenous meta-toluate tolerating bacteria isolated from oil-contaminated rhizosphere of Galega orientalis on selective medium was characterized and identified by classical and molecular methods. 16S rDNA partial sequencing showed the presence of five major lineages of the Bacteria domain. Gram-positive Rhodococcus, Bacillus and Arthrobacter and gram-negative Pseudomonas were the most abundant genera. Only one-fifth of the strains that tolerated m-toluate also degraded m-toluate. The inoculum Pseudomonas putida PaW85 was not found in the rhizosphere samples. The ability to degrade m-toluate by the TOL plasmid was detected only in species of the genus Pseudomonas. However, a few Rhodococcus erythropolis strains were found which were able to degrade m-toluate. A new finding was that Pseudomonas migulae strains and a few P. oryzihabitans strains were able to grow on m-toluate and most likely contained the TOL plasmid. Because strain specific differences in degradation abilities were found for P. oryzihabitans, separation at the strain level was important. For strain specific separation (GTG)5 fingerprinting was the best method. A combination of the single locus ribotyping and the whole genomic fingerprinting techniques with the selective partial sequencing formed a practical molecular toolbox for studying genetic diversity of culturable bacteria in oil-contaminated rhizosphere. 相似文献

The ability of selective polyaminocarboxylic acids and common drugs to reduce the body burden of chromium and restore Cr induced biochemical alterations in chromate intoxicated rats was investigated. 1,2 Cyclohexylene dinitrilotetraacetic acid (CDTA) and triethylenetetramine hexacetic acid (TTHA) were more effective than p-aminosalicylic acid (PAS) and isoniazid (INH) in enhancing urinary excretion of Cr, lowering hepatic and blood levels of Cr and restoring inhibited activity of hepatic aldolase. The chromate antidotal property of chelators seem to be related to the combination of nitrogen and oxygen as the electron donating centres. 相似文献

Using data from 23 populations of Indian langurs (Presbytis entellus), we show that the proportion of one-male groups is a function of the males’ ability to defend groups of females, as predicted
by the monopolisation model of Emlen and Oring (1977). However, we show that in addition to the number of females in the group
and their reproductive synchrony, home range size is also a factor, probably because it affects a male’s willingness to search
for other groups. These variables in turn are shown to be functions of environmental parameters (rainfall volume and seasonality,
and mean ambient temperature) which probably act via the density of resources and refuges in habitats.

Recent regulations have required reductions in emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) from electric utility boilers. To comply with these regulatory requirements, it is increasingly important to implement state-of-the-art NOx control technologies on coal-fired utility boilers. This paper reviews NOx control options for these boilers. It discusses the established commercial primary and secondary control technologies and examines what is being done to use them more effectively. Furthermore, the paper discusses recent developments in NOx controls. The popular primary control technologies in use in the United States are low-NOx burners and overfire air. Data reflect that average NOx reductions for specific primary controls have ranged from 35% to 63% from 1995 emissions levels. The secondary NOx control technologies applied on U.S. coal-fired utility boilers include reburning, selective noncatalytic reduction (SNCR), and selective catalytic reduction (SCR). Thirty-six U.S. coal-fired utility boilers have installed SNCR, and reported NOx reductions achieved at these applications ranged from 15% to 66%. Recently, SCR has been installed at >150 U.S. coal-fired utility boilers. Data on the performance of 20 SCR systems operating in the United States with low-NOx emissions reflect that in 2003, these units achieved NOx emission rates between 0.04 and 0.07 lb/10(6) Btu. 相似文献

Emissions of sulfur trioxide (SO3) are a key component of plume opacity and acid deposition. Consequently, these emissions need to be low enough to not cause opacity violations and acid deposition. Generally, a small fraction of sulfur (S) in coal is converted to SO3 in coal-fired combustion devices such as electric utility boilers. The emissions of SO3 from such a boiler depend on coal S content, combustion conditions, flue gas characteristics, and air pollution devices being used. It is well known that the catalyst used in the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology for nitrogen oxides control oxidizes a small fraction of sulfur dioxide in the flue gas to SO3. The extent of this oxidation depends on the catalyst formulation and SCR operating conditions. Gas-phase SO3 and sulfuric acid, on being quenched in plant equipment (e.g., air preheater and wet scrubber), result in fine acidic mist, which can cause increased plume opacity and undesirable emissions. Recently, such effects have been observed at plants firing high-S coal and equipped with SCR systems and wet scrubbers. This paper investigates the factors that affect acidic mist production in coal-fired electric utility boilers and discusses approaches for mitigating emission of this mist. 相似文献

Thiotepa induced inhibition of nucleic acids, protein and free amino acids during early embryogenesis of . is reported. Same level of inhibition was found in DNA, RNA and protein in different crosses. In T♂ X T♀ there was significant weight loss of the eggs also.
