The Kumamoto oyster Crassostrea sikamea is distinguished from the closely related Pacific oyster C. gigas by concordant differences in 16S rDNA, allozymes, and a one-way gametic incompatibility. After repeated failures to find
this oyster in its native habitat, we speculated in 1994 that “the Kumamoto oyster may be extinct in Japan”. In September
1996, we sampled small, deep-cupped oysters from the Ariake Sea and typed these for 16S rDNA and ITS-1 DNA markers previously
shown to be diagnostic for the three most common oysters in the Ariake Sea, C. gigas, C. sikamea and C. ariakensis. Our earlier suggestion of the demise of C. sikamea proved incorrect. Of the 256 oysters sampled, 181 (71%) were C. gigas, 53 (21%) were C. sikamea, and 22 (9%) were C. ariakensis; no interspecific hybrids were observed. The distributions of C. sikamea and C. ariakensis are clumped in the Ariake Sea: C. sikamea occurs on the eastern and northern shores, C. ariakensis occurs only in the northern part. These results emphasize the value of molecular markers for discriminating these morphologically
plastic species both in the field and in aquaculture.

The effect of feeding the flagellate Isochrysis galbana (Parke; clone T-Iso) of modified lipid composition on the growth and lipid composition of juvenile scallops [Placopecten magellanicus (Gmelin)] was investigated in the spring of 1993. I. galbana grown in 85-liter cage culture turbidostats under conditions of nitrogen limitation had a significantly higher total lipid
content than when grown under nutrient-replete conditions. This was due mainly to a doubling in the amount of less unsaturated
triacylglycerol in the cells. The concentrations of methyl and ethyl ketones were also greater in nitrogen-limited cells.
Diets of nitrogen-limited I. galbana and nutrient-replete I. galbana grown in continuous and semi-continuous cultures were compared. Scallop juveniles were batch fed daily, and measurements
of ingestion were determined. Samples of juveniles were removed periodically for determination of organic weight. The juveniles
did not grow when fed nitrogen-limited or nutrient-replete I. galbana alone; however, when each diet was supplemented with 20% of the diatom Chaetoceros muelleri (Lemm.), there was a significant increase in growth in the juveniles receiving the nitrogen-limited I. galbana compared with juveniles on other diets. In comparison with I. galbana, C. muelleri provided a rich source of carbohydrates and the essential fatty acid 20:4ω6. This study shows the importance of providing
optimal dietary levels of ω3 and ω6 polyunsaturated fatty acids, as well as less unsaturated fatty acids and carbohydrates.

Plastic pollution is a major environmental issue worldwide, calling for advanced methods to recycle waste plastics in the context of the circular economy. Here we review methods and strategies to convert waste plastics into value-added carbon materials, with focus on sources, properties, pretreatment of waste plastics, and on preparation of carbon materials. Pretreatment techniques include mechanical crushing, plastic stabilization and electrospinning. Carbon materials such as carbon nanotubes, graphene, carbon nanosheets, carbon spheres and porous carbon are prepared by oxygen-limited carbonization, catalytic carbonization, the template-based method, and pressure carbonization. We emphasize the conversion of polyethene terephthalate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, halogenated plastics, polyurethane and mixed plastics.
● MSWNet was proposed to classify municipal solid waste.● Transfer learning could promote the performance of MSWNet.● Cyclical learning rate was adopted to quickly tune hyperparameters. An intelligent and efficient methodology is needed owning to the continuous increase of global municipal solid waste (MSW). This is because the common methods of manual and semi-mechanical screenings not only consume large amount of manpower and material resources but also accelerate virus community transmission. As the categories of MSW are diverse considering their compositions, chemical reactions, and processing procedures, etc., resulting in low efficiencies in MSW sorting using the traditional methods. Deep machine learning can help MSW sorting becoming into a smarter and more efficient mode. This study for the first time applied MSWNet in MSW sorting, a ResNet-50 with transfer learning. The method of cyclical learning rate was taken to avoid blind finding, and tests were repeated until accidentally encountering a good value. Measures of visualization were also considered to make the MSWNet model more transparent and accountable. Results showed transfer learning enhanced the efficiency of training time (from 741 s to 598.5 s), and improved the accuracy of recognition performance (from 88.50% to 93.50%); MSWNet showed a better performance in MSW classsification in terms of sensitivity (93.50%), precision (93.40%), F1-score (93.40%), accuracy (93.50%) and AUC (92.00%). The findings of this study can be taken as a reference for building the model MSW classification by deep learning, quantifying a suitable learning rate, and changing the data from high dimensions to two dimensions. 相似文献
Green development emphasizes co-development between economic and environmental dimensions, and is a people-centered sustainable development approach. Western China demands green development, and international experience could provide necessary, unique and important help and support for Western China to achieve its green development goals. This paper has made a comprehensive overall review and analysis of international experience in green development policy and its implementation, in particular, OECD countries’ (mostly Australia and Canada) experience have been analyzed following the major policy foci defined by the Task Force on Strategy and Policies on Environment and Development in Western China initiated by China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED). Data and information were gathered from the field surveys and investigations, expert meetings, as well as literature review. The main sessions include policy framework and road map establishment, implementation and performance assessment, co-development between economic development and environmental protection, as well as green employment and poverty alleviation.
