 In several branches of science and technology a gaseous phase is dispersed into a liquid in the form of bubbles, a gaseous component then dissolves into the liquid and subsequently undergoes chemical reaction. The overall process performance can be improved substantially when the area of gas–liquid contact is increased. By subjecting the liquid phase to low frequency vibrations, the bubbles are shown to suffer significant breakage, induced by resonance. When the vibration is properly tuned, the interfacial area is found to increase by a factor of 1.8–2.4, depending on the properties of the liquid. Resonance-induced bubble breakage phenomena have a great potential for improving the rates of chemical processes involving fast reactions, with minimal energy input. 保护环境与发展经济之间的关系是:既相互制约又相互促进的对立统一的辩证关系。在这一关系中,至少在现阶段经济是矛盾的主要方面,占主导地位,环境是矛盾的次要方面,处于服从的地位;解决环境问题的根本出路是科学技术进步,纵观历史科学技术的发展提高了生产力,增强了人类与大自然作斗争的能力,但科学技术在一定程度上增加了人类对环境的破坏能力,与此同时,也增强了人类保护和改善环境的能力;在环境演替过程中存在着量与质的关系,近年来人们把系统论,耗散结构理论以及熵的概念结合在一起,应用在环境问题的研究上,进一步认识环境发展变化过程,既克服了只有树木不见森林的缺陷,同时又遵循了自然辩证法,从环境的演替过程中,进一步认识到量与质的关系,也就是量变引起质变的关系。人类不可能改变环境系统自身的演替过程,然而,人类活动可以加速或延缓这一过程。  相似文献

Two field expeditions in 1996 studied 137Cs intake patterns and its content in the bodies of adult residents from the village Kozhany in the Bryansk region, Russia, located on the shore of a drainless peat lake in an area subjected to significant radioactive contamination after the 1986 Chernobyl accident. The 137Cs contents in lake water and fish were two orders of magnitude greater than in local rivers and flow-through lakes, 10 years after Chernobyl radioactive contamination, and remain stable. The 137Cs content in lake fish and a mixture of forest mushrooms was between approximately 10-20 kBq/kg, which exceeded the temporary Russian permissible levels for these products by a factor of 20-40. Consumption of lake fish gave the main contribution to internal doses (40-50%) for Kozhany village inhabitants Simple countermeasures, such as Prussian blue doses for dairy cows and pre-boiling mushrooms and fish before cooking, halved the 137Cs internal dose to inhabitants, even 10 years after the radioactive fallout.  相似文献

This greenhouse experiment evaluated the influence of arsenic uptake by arsenic hyperaccumulator Pteris vittata L. and non-arsenic hyperaccumulator Nephrolepis exaltata L. on arsenic chemistry in bulk and rhizosphere soil. The plants were grown for 8 weeks in a rhizopot with a soil containing 105 mg kg(-1) arsenic. The soil arsenic was fractionated into five fractions with decreasing availability: non-specifically bound (N), specifically bound (S), amorphous hydrous-oxide bound (A), crystalline hydrous-oxide bound (C), and residual (R). P. vittata produced larger plant biomass (7.38 vs. 2.32 mg plant(-1)) and removed more arsenic (2.61 vs. 0.09 mg pot(-1) arsenic) than N. exaltata. Plant growth reduced water-soluble arsenic, and increased soil pH (P. vittata only) in the rhizosphere soil. P. vittata was more efficient than N. exaltata to access arsenic from all fractions (39-64% vs. 5-39% reduction). However, most of the arsenic taken up by both plants was from the A fraction (67-77%) in the rhizosphere soil, the most abundant (61.5%) instead of the most available (N fraction).  相似文献

The bioaccumulations of lead in the liver and hepatic microsomes of fish after 1, 3, 7, 14, 28, and 45 days exposure were studied. In addition, the relationship between the bioaccumulated lead in both hepatic microsomes and the liver and their haem biosynthetic enzymes were studied. Lead toxicity was shown to result in a depression of the microsomal mixed function oxidase system, as assessed by a decrease in hepatic microsomal cytochrome P-450 and b5 content and by a decrease in the activity of the enzymes aniline hydroxylase and aminopyrine demethylase. Lead had a more marked effect on cytochrome P-450 than b5. The activity of the rate-limiting enzyme of haem biosynthesis, delta-aminolevulinic acid synthase, was inversely correlated with the microsomal cytochrome P-450 content. The activity of the heam biosynthetic enzymes delta-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase, coproporphyrinogen oxidase and ferrochelatase were decreased by increasing lead pretreatment. The activity of the haem catabolic enzyme, haem oxygenase, was increased by concentration and length of time to lead exposure.  相似文献

Diffuse pollution remains a major threat to surface waters due to eutrophication caused by phosphorus (P) transfer from agricultural land. Vegetated buffer strips (VBSs) are increasingly used to mitigate diffuse P losses from agricultural land, having been shown to reduce particulate P transfer. However, retention of dissolved P (DP) has been lower, and in some cases VBSs have increased delivery to surface waters. The aims of this review were (i) to develop a conceptual model to enhance the understanding of VBS functioning in terms of DP, (ii) to identify key processes within the model that affect DP retention and delivery, and (iii) to explore evidence for the controls on these processes. A greater understanding in these areas will allow the development of management strategies that enhance DP retention. We found evidence of a surface layer in buffer strip soils that is enriched in soluble P compared with adjacent agricultural land and may be responsible for the reported increased DP delivery. Through increased biological activity in VBSs, plants and microorganisms may assimilate P from particulates retained in the VBSs or native soil P and remobilize this P in a more soluble form. These conclusions are based on a limited amount of research, and a better understanding of biogeochemical cycling of P in buffer strip soils is required.  相似文献

Effect of pH on the sorption of uranium in soils   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
This work was undertaken to study the influence of soil type and chemical composition on uranium sorption ratios (SR in 1 kg-1) in order to reduce the uncertainty associated with this parameter in risk assessment models. Thirteen soil samples were collected from three different locations in France under different geological conditions. Clay content varied from 7.0 to 50.0%, pH ranged from 5.5 to 8.8 and organic matter content from 1.0 to 4.6%. Soils were incubated at room temperature in polyethylene packets for 28 days in the presence of 1 mg U kg-1 soil. Sorption ratio values varied from 0.9 to 3198 for all soils with no significant effect of soil texture or of organic matter. However, soil pH was highly linearly correlated with (log SR) as a probable consequence of the existence of different uranium complexes as a function of soil pH. The sorption behaviour differences between UO2(2+) and UO2(2+)-carbonate complexes are so great that any other effect of soil properties on U sorption is hidden. Thus, soil pH should be the focus variable for reduction of the uncertainty associated with the soil Kd value used in environmental risk assessments, even for reducing the uncertainty in site-specific Kd values.  相似文献

Field experiments were conducted to optimize the phytoextraction of weathered p,p'-DDE (p,p'-dichlorodiphenyldichloroethylene) by Cucurbita subspecies. The effects of two soil amendments, mycorrhizae or a biosurfactant, on p,p'-DDE accumulation was determined. Also, p,p'-DDE uptake was assessed during plant growth (12, 26, 38, and 62 d), and cultivars that accumulate weathered p,p'-DDE were intercropped with cultivars known not to have that ability. Cucurbita pepo L. ssp. pepo accumulated large amounts of the contaminant, having stem bioconcentration factors, amounts of p,p'-DDE translocated, and contaminant phytoextraction that were 14, 9.9, and 5.0 times greater than C. pepo L. ssp. ovifera (L.) D.S. Decker, respectively. During 62 d, the stem BCF (bioconcentration factor) for p,p'-DDE in subspecies pepo remained constant and the total amount of contaminant accumulated was correlated with plant biomass (r(2) = 0.86). For subspecies ovifera, the stem BCF was highest at 12 d (1.5) but decreased to 0.39 by 62 d, and p,p'-DDE removal was not correlated with plant biomass. Mycorrhizal inoculation increased p,p'-DDE accumulation by both subspecies by an average 4.4 times. For subspecies pepo, mycorrhizae increased the percentage of contaminant extracted from 0.72 to 2.1%. Biosurfactant amendment also enhanced contaminant accumulation by both subspecies, although treatment reduced subspecies ovifera biomass by 60%. The biosurfactant had no effect on the biomass of subspecies pepo, increased the average contaminant concentration by 3.6-fold, and doubled the overall amount of p,p'-DDE removed from the soil. Soil amendments that enhance the mobility of weathered persistent organic pollutants will significantly increase the amount of contaminant phytoextraction by Cucurbita pepo.  相似文献
