In this study, influence of slope position (south-facing vs. north-facing), species type and sampling time on fine (0-2 mm), small (2-5 mm) and coarse (5-10 mm) root biomass and carbon storage of oriental spruce (Picea orientalis) and oriental beech (Fagus orientalis) were investigated. Mean total root biomass of oriental spruce was 20160 kg ha(-1) in south-facing slopes and 17140 kg ha(-1) in north-facing slopes. Mean total belowground C storage of oriental spruce was 7861 kg ha(-1) in south-facing slopes and 6840 kg ha(-1) in north-facing slopes. Similarly, biomass and C storage of oriental beech were 17190 and 6690 kg ha(-1) in south-facing slopes, and 13260 and 5200 kg ha(-1) in north-facing slopes, respectively. Oriental spruce had significantly higher fine root biomass than did oriental beech in south-facing slopes. Fine root biomass was significantly higher in fall than in spring in south-facing slopes.  相似文献

- Goal, Scope, Background. Lake Skadar is the largest lake in Balkan Peninsula, located on the Montenegro-Albanian border. The unique features of the lake and wide range of endemic and rare or endangered plant and animal species resulted in the classification of the Skadar as a wetland site of international significance. In spite of its importance the Lake is influenced by inflowing waters from river Morača and other regional rivers contaminated by the industry, municipal and agricultural activities in the area. Therefore, the Lake has been subject of various physical, chemical, biological and toxicological examinations. However, community-level analyses are most relevant to assess the effect of stressors on aquatic ecosystems. In the present study bacterial community structure among differently polluted sites of the lake was compared by genetic fingerprinting technique. Methods Water and sediment samples were collected from five differently polluted sampling sites on the Lake Skadar in spring and autumn of the same year. The bacterial community structure in the samples was characterized and compared by temporal temperature gel electrophoresis (TTGE) analysis of polymerase chain reaction-amplified bacterial 16S rRNA genes. Results and Discussion The TTGE analysis resulted in many distinguishable and reproducible band patterns, allowing reliable comparison of bacterial communities among sampling sites. Results on the bacterial community structure revealed that three of the selected locations can be considered as sites that have not shown any pollution degradation determined by our method, due to similar structure of bacterial community in the sediment samples. On the other hand, significant shifts in bacterial community structure in the mouth of the river Morača and Plavnica were shown. Since the results coincide with some of the bioassays and chemical analysis performed previously, the changes in bacterial community structure are explained as an effect of antropogenic pollution on the lake ecosystem by waters of river Morača and stream Plavnica. Conclusion The TTGE has proven to be an efficient and reliable method to monitor bacterial dynamics and community shifts in aquatic environment, especially in the sediments. Within the variety of environmental quality assessments the use of TTGE analyses of bacterial community is strongly recommended, particularly as an initial investigation. However, in any conclusion on the state of the environment, the TTGE results should be combined to some other biological, chemical and hydrological data. Recommendation and Outlook Since prokaryotes are a crucial group of organisms in the biosphere, the ecosystem function studies are largely based on bacterial communities. Therefore, bacterial community structure analysis should be a part of an integrated weight of evidence approach in pollution assessment. In case of Triad approach, consisting of chemical analyses, bioassays, and community studies in the field, the TTGE bacterial community structure analyses should be placed in the later Triad leg. In comparison to other community studies, based on various biotic indices, the TTGE bacterial community analysis has proven to be very sensitive, reliable and less time consuming.  相似文献

Automated Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SFE), using CO2, was tested and optimised for routine analysis of hydrocarbons (THC), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in marine sediments. The aim of the exercise was to reduce the amount of solvents used and to reduce the manual handling time for each sample. The sediments contained elemental sulphur, which was removed during the extraction step using activated Cu. Similar recoveries and reproducibility where found for THC when conventional solvent extractions and SFE where compared. Modifying the CO2 with methanol was necessary to obtain extraction recoveries similar to conventional extraction methods for PCB and PAH.  相似文献

Carbothermal treatment tests of electric arc furnace dusts (EAFD) using the Waelz kiln process were carried out in pilot-scale for the production of zinc oxide. The association of halides in the EAFD, and the recycled products, such as zinc oxide fumes and high-grade iron contents fractions were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) analysis. XRD reveals the presence of chlorine and fluorine in the dusts in the form of KCl, NaCl and CaF2. An ultra-pure fraction of zinc was obtained after the Double Leaching Waelz Oxide (DLWO) process was performed on the zinc oxide fumes. The halide contents were reduced to approximately 100 ppm Cl and 700 ppm F. The rest of these elements are in the form of CaF2. About 65% F is volatilised as lead and zinc fluorides, 15% is expected in the magnetic fractions and 20% in non-magnetic fractions as CaF2 and MnF2, respectively.  相似文献

The concentrations of heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn and Mn) and macroelements (K, Na, Ca and Mg) were determined in green alga Enteromorpha sp. from the coastal zone of the southern Baltic including Gulf of Gdańsk and Vistula Lagoon in 2000-2003. In order to estimate the degree of accumulation of each element by the green alga, concentration and discrimination factors (CFs) with respect to seawater were calculated. The results of factor analysis (FA) and ANOVA clearly indicate geographical differences between concentrations of chemical elements. Enteromorpha sp. from Vistula Lagoon and the southern Baltic exhibited higher levels of Mn and Ni, and Na and K, respectively. Anthropogenic impact of Cu, Pb and Zn, possibly originated from municipal sewage, was identified in alga samples collected in the Gulf of Gdańsk, especially in the vicinity of Gdynia. From comparison our data with those published earlier results that Pb content in Enteromorpha sp. from the Gulf of Gdańsk decreased within 1978-2003 reflecting reducing use of leaded petrol in Baltic countries in this period. The alga Enteromorpha sp. can be used for biomonitoring surveys of metal contaminants in coastal areas of the Baltic Sea.  相似文献

The sulphur content and sulphur isotopic composition of Sphagnum as well as anionic compositions and sulphur isotope ratios of rainwater inputs and bog waters have been measured at Thorne Moors, a raised bog in eastern England. Rainwater sulphate isotopic composition shows the sulphur input at this site to be dominated by anthropogenic pollution from fossil fuel burning. Strong depletion of sulphate (low SO4(2-)/Cl-) and enrichment in 34S in sulphate occurs at depth in the bog porewaters due to bacterial sulphate reduction. Some surface waters have low SO4(2-)/Cl-) and are 34S enriched due to removal of sulphate by downward diffusion into a sulphate-reducing zone. Other sites have high SO4(2-)/Cl-) which appears to result from oxidation of organically bound sulphur in the peat. Sulphur is present in Sphagnum at around 0.2% by weight and is depleted by 0 to -9 per thousand in the heavier 34S isotope compared to sulphate. Comparison with similar data from pristine coastal sites shows that sulphur incorporation into Sphagnum is enhanced in the polluted site (as Sphagnum sulphur concentrations are higher at lower total sulphur inputs) and that sulphur incorporation is accompanied by a smaller isotopic shift than in the pristine sites. The data support a model of preferential incorporation of partially reduced sulphur species (probably HSO3-) into Sphagnum. In pristine sites these are only available as oxidation products of sulphide formed by sulphate reduction and are 32S depleted. In polluted sites this source is augmented by sulphur(IV) species in atmospheric inputs and the resultant mixture is less depleted in 32S. Thus, in the polluted sites more HSO3- is available for uptake and the isotopic shift between Sphagnum and aqueous sulphur species is smaller.  相似文献

The recovery and utilization of recovered paper have increased over past decades all over the world due to economic, environmental, and social issues. However, it is well known that an extended recovered paper collection is detrimental to its quality, either by the exploitation of lower quality sources such as households, or the spreading of commingled systems instead of selective collection systems. The influence of these two factors was assessed by analyzing the quality of different recovered paper grades used as raw material in a mill located in Madrid (Spain) producing newsprint and light weight coated paper from recovered paper. Part 1 of the paper deals with the impact of increased collection rates on the quality of recovered paper and Part 2 with the use of commingled collection systems. Results of Part 1 show that increased collection rates have a large impact on the quality of the recovered paper. The quality, measured as total unusable material and moisture contents, had deteriorated very rapidly in only 4 years (2005–2008) as a consequence of increased collection rates. Collection rates increased in Spain from 58.5% to 68.6% during this period, resulting in more than 50% increase of total unusable material and 25% of moisture content. The downgrading of the quality of recovered paper is one of the major threats for extending the current limits of paper recycling. Therefore, future challenge is to increase its availability but maintaining its quality.  相似文献

Our work was conducted to investigate the heavy metal toxicity of tailings and soils collected from five metal mines located in the south of Morocco. We used the MetPAD biotest Kit which detects the toxicity specifically due to the heavy metals in environmental samples. This biotest initially developed to assess the toxicity of aquatic samples was adapted to the heterogeneous physico-chemical conditions of anthropogenic soils. Contrasted industrial soils were collected from four abandoned mines (A, B, C and E) and one mine (D) still active. The toxicity test was run concurrently with chemical analyses on the aqueous extracts of tailings materials and soils in order to assess the potential availability of heavy metals. Soil pH was variable, ranging from very acidic (pH 2.6) to alkaline values (pH 8.0-8.8). The tailings from polymetallic mines (B and D) contained very high concentrations of Zn (38,000-108,000 mg kg(-1)), Pb (20,412-30,100 mg kg(-1)), Cu (2,019-8,635 mg kg(-1)) and Cd (148-228 mg kg(-1)). Water-extractable metal concentrations (i.e., soil extracts) were much lower but were highly toxic as shown by the MetPAD test, except for soils from mines A, E and site C3 from mine C. The soil extracts from mine D were the most toxic amongst all the soils tested. On this site, the toxicity of soil water extracts was mainly due to high concentrations of Zn (785-1,753 mg l(-1)), Cu (1.8-82 mg l(-1)) and Cd (2.0-2.7 mg l(-1)). The general trend observed was an increase in metal toxicity measured by the biotest with increasing available metal contents in tailings materials and soils. Therefore, the MetPAD test can be used as a rapid and sensitive predictive tool to assess the heavy metal availability in soils highly contaminated by mining activities.  相似文献

减少工业部门碳排放是实现中国碳达峰、碳中和目标的关键路径之一。为识别工业碳排放的影响因素及其减排贡献,厘清工业部门碳排放与经济发展间的脱钩路径,以2006~2019年安徽省工业碳排放为例,集成C-D生产函数、LMDI模型与Tapio解耦模型量化评估了工业部门的低碳化驱动因素及其脱钩路径。结果表明:(1)考察期内安徽省工业部门碳排放累计净增1 076.70万t,碳排放总量呈阶段性变化并在2013与2016~2018年实现了减排效果。(2)工业部门投资与工业技术水平导致了安徽省工业部门碳排放的快速增长,而能源强度的减排作用最为显著,能源结构、经济结构和劳动力投入在一定程度上抑制了工业CO2排放,特别是劳动力投入呈现先促进后抑制的变化趋势。(3)安徽省工业CO2排放与经济发展间的脱钩状态有4种:弱解耦(2008~2012和2014~2015年)、强解耦(2013和2016~2018年)、扩张耦合(2006~2007年)和扩张负解耦(2019年);抑制脱钩因素有技术水平和资本投入;促进脱钩因素有能源强度和经济结构;其中能源结构和劳动力逐渐由抑制脱钩转...  相似文献
