Over the past few decades, the industry developed an increasing interest in using renewable, bio-based thermosetting polymers as matrix systems for composites and coating systems. In the present paper an acrylated epoxidized linseed oil (AELO) was synthesized from epoxidized linseed oil (ELO) through ring opening of the oxirane group using acrylic acid as the ring opening agent. The synthesized AELO was mixed with three different photoinitiators and cured under monochromatic conditions (???=?365?nm) at different light intensities and at different temperatures. The concentration of the initiators was aligned that all initiators absorb at 365?nm the same amount of light. The evolution of cure was monitored by using real-time infrared spectroscopy with a heated attenuated total reflection unit. The decrease of absorption in the measured spectra at 1,406?cm?1 was used to calculate the conversion of acrylic double bonds with increasing time of UV light exposure to get information about the cure kinetics for each AELO mixture at different light intensities and different temperatures. Wood substrates were coated in a preliminary work with the AELO mixtures and after UV-curing some technological coating properties like gloss, scratch resistance, adhesion, and solvent resistance were tested. In combination with the information about the cure kinetics in the present work the coating properties were correlated with the cure evolution and the final degree of double bond conversion. The found correlation can be used in the future to find optimized coating conditions for the AELO mixtures on wood substrates.  相似文献

Land Evaluation for Maize Based on Fuzzy Set and Interpolation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The objective of this article is to apply fuzzy set and interpolation techniques for land suitability evaluation for maize in Northern Ghana. Land suitability indices were computed at point observations using the Semantic Import (SI) model, whereas spatial interpolation was carried out by block kriging. Interpolated land suitability shows a high correlation (R2 = 0.87) with observed maize yield at the village level. This indicates that land suitability is closely related to maize yield in the study area. Membership functions were further used to assess the degree of limitation of land characteristics to maize. Sixty percent of the data has membership functions ranging from 0.23 for ECEC to 1.00 for drainage. ECEC, organic C, and clay are the major constraints to maize yield. The use of the fuzzy technique is helpful for land suitability evaluation, especially in applications in which subtle differences in soil quality are of a major interest. Furthermore, the use of kriging that exploits spatial variability of data is useful in producing continuous land suitability maps and in estimating uncertainties associated with predicted land suitability indices.  相似文献

Over the past few years, there has been a greater study and understanding of the application of phytoremediation to remediate contaminated soil. The enhancement of phytoaccumulation of heavy metals—zinc (Zn), cadmium (Cd), arsenic (As), and selenium (Se)—in plants has been shown by inoculation of roots using arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF). This article presents the results of in vitro lab experiments conducted to verify the effects of AMF ( Glomus intraradices) hyphae on speciation of essential Zn and nonessential Cd heavy metals in order to change these metals from a water‐ insoluble carbonate to a soluble and phytoavailable form. Results show that in the presence of heavy metals in a nonavailable form to plants, endomycorrhizal hyphae can change the metal from carbonate to a water‐ soluble species. This phenomenon is more apparent with a nonessential (Cd) than with an essential metal (Zn). Zn saturation is reached in the G. intraradices colonized roots at around 400 ppm, independently of initial ZnCO3 concentrations. Cd saturation is not reached; in the lower Cd treatment, the plant/media metal ratio is 3:1, and in the higher treatment, the ratio is 1:1. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Environmental and economic damages caused by agricultural nonpoint source inputs of sediment and associated pollutants are examined. Widespread water quality problems are identified in lakes, rivers, and estuaries in agricultural areas, and billions of dollars of on-site and offsite costs result from this eroded soil every year. Some water bodies have been irretrievably damaged, and expensive rehabilitation programs are needed to remedy in-place water pollution problems if Clean Water Act goals are to be achieved. Unless effective abatement and rehabilitation programs are established, billions of dollars of benefits to future generations will not be realized as more waters become irretrievably damaged, and billions more will continue to be spent by government to treat symptoms of these sediment-related problems.  相似文献
