A laboratory study using a bench scale model of two units operation involving coagulation process with Moringa oleifera seeds extract as a coagulant and filtration process using hollow fibre microfiltration membrane, was adopted to treat Air
Hitam Sanitary Landfill leachate in Puchong, Malaysia. The performance of the microfiltration membrane in pretreated sanitary
landfill leachate treatment was investigated through a continuous process. The leachate sample was passed through conventional
coagulation process before being filtered through a hollow fibre microfiltration membrane of 0.1 μm surface pores. The hollow
fibre microfiltration membrane decreased the turbidity, colour, total suspended solids, total dissolved solids and volatile
suspended solids in the leachate by 98.30, 90.30, 99.63, 14.71 and 20%, respectively. The results showed that microfiltration
is capable of removing high percentage of solids from leachate and might be considered as a polishing stage after on-site
biological treatment for sanitary landfill leachate. 相似文献

Poly(l-lactic acid) (PLLA)/poly(caprolactone) (PCL) and two types of organoclay (OMMT) including a fatty amide and ocatdecylamine
montmorillonite (FA-MMT and ODA-MMT) were employed to produce polymer nanocomposites by melt blending. Materials were characterized
using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), elemental
analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Mechanical properties were also investigated
for these nanocomposites. The nanocomposites showed increasing mechanical properties and thermal stability. XRD results indicated
that the materials formed nanocomposites. SEM morphology showed that increasing content of OMMT reduced the domain size of
phase separated particles. TEM outcomes have confirmed the intercalated type of nanocomposite. Additionally, a solution casting
process has been used to prepare these nanocomposites and characterized to compare these results with the above process. 相似文献

Water of poor quality can directly impact the budget of water available for key user groups. Despite this importance, methods for quantifying the impact of water quality on water availability remain elusive. Here, we develop a new framework for incorporating the impact of water quality on water supply by modifying the Water Supply Stress Index (WaSSI). We demonstrate the usefulness of the framework by investigating the impact of high salinity waters on the availability of irrigation water for agriculture in Louisiana. The WaSSI was deconstructed into sectoral components such that the total available water supply could be reduced for a particular demand sector (agricultural irrigation in this example) based on available water quality information. The results for Louisiana highlight substantial impacts on water supply stress for farmers attributable to the landward encroachment of saline surface water and groundwater near the coast. Areas of high salinity near the coast also increased the competition for freshwater resources among the industrial, municipal, and agricultural demand sectors in the vicinities of the municipal areas of Lake Charles, Lafayette, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The framework developed here is easily adaptable for other water quality concerns and for other demand sectors, and as such can serve as a useful tool for water managers. 相似文献

Strategic health, safety, and environmental management system (HSE-MS) involves systematic and cooperative planning in each
phase of the lifecycle of a project to ensure that interaction among the industry group, client, contractor, stakeholder,
and host community exists with the highest level of health, safety, and environmental standard performances. Therefore, it
seems necessary to assess the HSE-MS performance of contractor(s) by a comparative strategic management model with the aim
of continuous improvement. The present Strategic Management Model (SMM) has been illustrated by a case study and the results
show that the model is a suitable management tool for decision making in a contract environment, especially in oil and gas
fields and based on accepted international standards within the framework of management deming cycle. To develop this model,
a data bank has been created, which includes the statistical data calculated by converting the HSE performance qualitative
data into quantitative values. Based on this fact, the structure of the model has been formed by defining HSE performance
indicators according to the HSE-MS model. Therefore, 178 indicators have been selected which have been grouped into four attributes.
Model output provides quantitative measures of HSE-MS performance as a percentage of an ideal level with maximum possible
score for each attribute. Defining the strengths and weaknesses of the contractor(s) is another capability of this model.
On the other hand, this model provides a ranking that could be used as the basis for decision making at the contractors’ pre-qualification

In this research,the treatability of solids from sanitary landfill leachate by microfiltration membrane was investigated and the fouling of the membrane was carefully studied.Continuous microfiltration process was carried out for 21 h in experimental system involved coagulation with Moringa oleifera followed by filtration using submerged hollow fibre microfiltration membrane (MFM).Coagulation with M.Oleifera,air diffusers and back flush technique were used for preventing or alleviating fouling of the membrane.The hollow fibre MFM showed high removals of 98%,91% and 99% for turbidity,colour and total suspended solids respectively.It was obtained at the beginning of the filtration.However,quality of the filtrate rapidly declined during the filtration process.Fouling was found to proceed according to the classical cake filtration model.Coagulation with M.Oleifera as well as the back-flush technique could not fully restore the deterioration occurred to the membrane. 相似文献
