Recent scientific research on perfluorinated surfactants (PS) revealed their ocurrence in German surface and drinking waters (Skutlarek, Exner, Färber 2006). Since several years, PS have been found in the global environment, especially in animal and human tissues. PS possess extreme persistence against microbiological and chemical degradation and are able to bioaccumulate in animals and humans (Houde et al. 2006). PS concentrations (sum of 12 components) in the Rhine river and its main tributaries were determined below 100 ng/L, but the rivers Ruhr (tributary of the Rhine) and Möhne (tributary of the Ruhr) showed remarkable high concentrations (Ruhr: up to 446 ng/L, Möhne: up to 4385 ng/L). The maximum concentration in drinking waters was 598 ng/L with the major component perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). The PS concentrations decreased similarly to the PS concentrations of the raw waters along the flow direction of the Ruhr river. The concept of critical loads has been an important andsuccessful tool for the development of control strategiesfor transboundary air pollution in Europe. The use of theconcept has led us to a situation where very few areas inEurope will have an exceedance of critical loads foracidification in 2010, indicating that the benefits offurther control acidifying substances will be lessuseful. The critical loads concept does not, however,take into account the large benefits of further controlin damaged systems but where critical loads are nolonger exceeded. In this paper we discuss the importanceof widening the critical loads concept to include thesebenefits and we propose an additional effect-relatedmeasure, Dynamic Impact Analysis, to be included infurther control strategies and assessments. A dynamic extraction system exploiting sequential injection (SI) for sequential extractions incorporating a specially designed extraction column is developed to fractionate radionuclides in environmental solid samples such as soils and sediments. The extraction column can contain up to 5 g of a soil sample, and under optimal operational conditions it does not give rise to creation of back pressure. Attention has been placed on studies of the readsorption problems during sequential extraction using a modified Standards, Measurements and Testing (SM&T) scheme with four-step sequential extractions. The degree of readsorption in dynamic and conventional batch extraction systems is compared and evaluated by using a double-spiking technique. A high degree of readsorption of plutonium and americium (>75%) was observed in both systems, and they also exhibited similar distribution patterns of the two radionuclides. However, the dynamic system is fully automated, eliminates manual separations, significantly reduces the operational time required, and offers detailed kinetic information. 相似文献

This study investigated the compliance of paper-making plants in Phong Khe Commune of Bac Ninh Province with regulations on
wastewater management. According to existing regulations for wastewater management, all paper plants in Bac Ninh province
are required to submit an environmental impact assessment report, pay the wastewater charges, and establish a wastewater treatment
system. Many paper-making plants in the commune did not, however, comply with these regulations. Although fines were imposed
for non-compliance, only a few plants paid the fines due to weak enforcement. As a result, the current costs of compliance
of paper-making plants were very small compared with the full costs of compliance. Type of plant, location of the plant, and
number of schooling years of the plant owners were found to be significant factors affecting compliance. The main reasons
why the plants did not comply with the regulations were the plant owners’ inadequate understanding of environmental regulations,
their lack of financial resources, limited space for treatment system installation, small fines, and the limited capacity
of the local environment authorities in enforcing the regulations. The option of wastewater treatment for a group of paper-making plants located close to one another was widely accepted. The

Hot base digestion of fish meal and shrimps in combination with sodium borohydride reduction produces only trimethylarsine (TMA). This treatment produces TMA in different amounts relative to the total arsenic content which is mainly of organic structure. These materials of marine origin yielded 94% and 69% resp. of the calculated amount of TMA. Arsenobetaine and arsenocholine were degraded under identical conditions and were found to produce only TMA (95% and 8% resp.). Furthermore, studies using thin-layer chromatography, electrophoresis and ion-exchange chromatography have confirmed the existence of one organoarsenic compound in fish meal and two organoarsenicals in shrimps. The major organoarsenic compound in fish meal was identified as arsenobetaine by masspectroscopy. In shrimps about of the organoarsenic compounds was shown to be arsenobetaine and there is a strong indication for the presence of arsenocholine. 相似文献

The measurement and induction of mixed function oxyigenases (MFOs) of limnetic gastropods were investigated to estimate their
suitability as biomarkers. A determination of MFO activities was performed through the measurement of ethoxyresorufin-O-dealkylase (EROD), pentoxy-(PROD) and benzoxyresorufin-O-dealkylase-activity (BROD). Optimal measuring conditions of these activities were investigated in preparations of the digestive
gland of 4 species of limnetic gastropods. Results indicate that MFO-activity inhibiting substances are accumulating in the
microsomal pellet, the fraction commonly used for the measurement of MFO-activities. Therefore, the fraction used for induction
studies was the postmitochondrial supernatant (PMS). EROD, PROD, and BROD activity ofPlanorbis planorbis andPlanorbis carinatus were measured after a treatment with Aroclor 1254 for 1–17 days. Maximal induction of EROD and PROD were 6 and 10 times the
value in the control group ofP. carinatus, respectively induction inP. planorbis was lower. BROD-activity could not been measured inP. planorbis. InP. carinatus, BROD-activity increased to a maximum of 2 times after traetment with Aroclor 1254. The level of induction of EROD-activity
