Bioconcentration and excretion of 8 organophosphorous pesticides were studied for willow shiner (
). The average bioconcentration factors (BCF) in the whole body of the fish after 24 – 168 hr exposure were 0.8 for dichlorvos, 76 for salithion, 18 for methidathion, 29 for pyridaphenthion, 481 for fenthion and 36 for phosmet, Further, the BCF values of the other pesticides after 168 hr exposure were 713 for phenthoate and 1682 for EPN. The correlation between n-octanol-water partition coefficients (POW) and BCF in willow shiner was investigated for 19 pesticides studied here and already reported. The correlation factor (r) was not so high (0.6819, n=19) but higher (0.9085, n=18) in case excluding captan. The excretion rate constants (k) from the whole body of willow shiner were 0.20 hr−1 for salthion, 0.05 hr−1 for phenthoate, 0.27 hr−1 for methidathion, 0.20 hr−1 for pyridaphenthion, 0.07 hr−1 for fenthion, 0.04 hr−1 for EPN and 0.28 hr−1 for phosmet. 相似文献
Myxomycetes are organisms characterized by a life cycle that includes a fruiting body stage. Myxomycete fruiting bodies contain spores, and wind dispersal of the spores is considered important for this organism to colonize new areas. In this study, the presence of airborne myxomycetes and the temporal changes in the myxomycete composition of atmospheric particles (aerosols) were investigated with a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based method for Didymiaceae and Physaraceae. Twenty-one aerosol samples were collected on the roof of a three-story building located in Sapporo, Hokkaido Island, northern Japan. PCR analysis of DNA extracts from the aerosol samples indicated the presence of airborne myxomycetes in all the samples, except for the one collected during the snowfall season. Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis (DGGE) analysis of the PCR products showed seasonally varying banding patterns. The detected DGGE bands were subjected to sequence analyses, and four out of nine obtained sequences were identical to those of fruiting body samples collected in Hokkaido Island. It appears that the difference in the fruiting period of each species was correlated with the seasonal changes in the myxomycete composition of the aerosols. Molecular evidence shows that newly formed spores are released and dispersed in the air, suggesting that wind-driven dispersal of spores is an important process in the life history of myxomycetes. This study is the first to detect airborne myxomycetes with the use of molecular ecological analyses and to characterize their seasonal distribution. 相似文献
Temporal and spatial variations in concentrations of particle-associated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and their nitrated and oxygenated derivatives (nitro-PAHs and oxy-PAHs) were investigated to assess the influence of secondary formation on atmospheric occurrences of oxy-PAHs associated with particulate matter in downtown Tokyo, Japan. The daily variation in concentration of 1,8-naphthalic anhydride (1,8-NA) in summer 2007 was similar to that for 2-nitrofluoranthene (2-NF), a representative secondary formed nitro-PAH, while the variation for benzanthrone (BA) was similar to PAHs. In addition, the concentrations of polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs) associated with airborne particulate matter decreased in the order of PAHs > BA > 9-fluorenone (9-FO) or 9,10-anthraquinone (9,10-AQ) > 1,8-NA with an increase in distance from the roadside, whereas 2-NF was constant. These results suggest that a considerable fraction of some oxy-PAHs such as 1,8-NA associated with airborne particulate matter in downtown Tokyo originates from atmospheric secondary formation. 相似文献
High density polyethylene (HDPE)/bamboo composites with different nanoclay and maleated polyethylene (MAPE) contents were
fabricated by melt compounding. The compounding characteristics, clay dispersion, HDPE crystallization, and mechanical properties
of the composites were studied. The equilibrium torque during compounding decreased with use of clay masterbatch and increased
with the addition of MAPE. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) data showed that the clay was exfoliated only when 1% clay was added
to pure HDPE without MAPE. For HDPE/bamboo systems, MAPE was necessary to achieve clay exfoliation. For pure HDPE system,
both dynamic and static bending moduli increased, while impact strength decreased with increased clay loading. For the HDPE/bamboo
fiber composites, tensile strength, bending modulus and strength were improved with the use of MAPE. The use of the clay in
the system led to reduced mechanical properties. Techniques such as pre-coating fibers with clay–MAPE mixture are needed to
enhance the synergetic effect of the clay and bamboo fiber on the composite properties in the future study. 相似文献
In this study we investigated occurrences and distribution patterns of dioxin-related compounds (DRCs) such as polybrominated dibenzo-p-dioxins/dibenzofurans (PBDD/Fs), polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins/dibenzofurans (PCDD/Fs), monobromo-polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins/dibenzofurans (MoBPCDD/Fs) and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (DL-PCBs) in marine surface sediments collected from the coastal waters of Hong Kong and Korea. In most sampling sites, concentrations of PCDDs were the highest, followed by DL-PCBs, PCDFs, PBDFs, PBDDs, MoBPCDDs and MoBPCDFs in this order. Levels of PBDD/Fs were generally 1-2 orders of magnitude lower than chlorinated analogues. Levels of PCDDs are higher than PCDFs in Hong Kong while levels of PBDFs are higher than PBDDs in Korea (p < 0.05). Report of PBDD/Fs and MoBPCDD/Fs in sediments from East Asian countries is novel and original. Environmental levels of PBDD/Fs are supposed to start increasing in accordance with rising production, use and disposal of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and recycling processes of e-waste in Asian developing countries. 相似文献
Pupae of several insect species are known to generate air-borne sounds and/or substrate-borne vibrations, but the functions
of the sounds/vibrations are not well understood. Here, we present the first evidence of vibratory communication between pupae
and larvae of a group-living Japanese rhinoceros beetle Trypoxylus dichotoma which inhabits humus soil. The last-instar larvae of this beetle construct their own pupal cells to ensure normal pupation
and eclosion. These cells are fragile and subject to damage from burrowing larvae because pupae and larvae co-inhabit the
same patches of humus. In laboratory experiments, we demonstrated that pupal cells harboring live pupae were less likely to
be broken by larvae than those harboring dead pupae. It was also demonstrated that pupae produced vibrations in response to
larvae approaching the pupal cells. High-speed video and vibration analyses showed that pupae emitted 3–7 pulses at 1.3-s
intervals by beating their pronotum against the inner wall of the pupal cell. The pupal vibration was of low frequency with
a maximum energy at ≈ 100 Hz. The drumming behavior was more frequently observed in the presence of an approaching larva than
in its absence. When pupal vibrations were played back near to vacant artificial pupal cells, these cells were rarely disturbed
by the larvae. These results provide evidence that pupae generate vibrations to deter conspecific larvae, thereby preventing
damage to the cells. This larval response to pupal vibrations may have evolved through preexisting anti-predator and/or sib-killing-avoidance
behavior. 相似文献
In this study, the decomposing detonation and deflagration properties of ozone/oxygen mixtures of up to 20 vol.% of ozone in oxygen under high pressure of up to 1.0 MPa in a tube were experimentally investigated. The mixtures were ignited by an electric spark at the end of the tube. Flame propagation properties such as flame velocity and pressure were measured with thermocouples and piezo electric transducers mounted along the tube. Slow and constant flame propagation profiles were obtained. We also investigated the quenching ability of a wire gauze as well as the concentration limit for flame propagation. However, in spite of slow flame propagation velocity and easy flame quenching properties under these experimental conditions, direct initiation of detonation by the driver detonation of the stoichiometric oxy-hydrogen mixture was easily achieved at much lower concentrations than the limit of deflagration. The observed detonation properties, such as wave velocity and pressure, agreed fairly well with C–J calculated values. The detonation velocity (900–1200 m/s) and the pressure ratio to initial pressures (5–9.5) were not affected by the initial pressure of the mixtures. Near the detonation limit, typical spinning detonations with oscillatory pressure waves were observed. 相似文献
Objective: Hazard perception (HP) is the ability to identify a hazardous situation while driving. Though HP has been well studied among neurologically intact populations, little is known about the HP of neurologically impaired populations (in this study, stroke patients). The purpose of this study is, first, to investigate the HP of stroke patients and, second, to verify the effect of lesion side (right or left hemisphere) on HP, from the viewpoint of hazard types.
Methods: Sixty-seven neurologically intact age-matched older drivers and 63 stroke patients with valid driver’s licenses conducted a video-based Japanese HP task. Participants were asked to indicate the hazardous events in the driving scenario. These events were classified into 3 types: (1) behavioral prediction hazards (BP), which are those where the cause is visible before it becomes a hazard; (2) environmental prediction hazards (EP), which are those where the ultimate hazard may be hidden from view; and (3) dividing and focusing attention hazards (DF), which are those where there is more than one potential hazard to monitor on approach.Participants also took part in the Trail Making Test (TMT) to evaluate visual information processing speed.
Results: The results showed that the number of responses was significantly fewer for stroke patients than for age-matched drivers for all hazard types (P < .001), and this difference was not affected by lesion side (P > .05). It was also found that stroke patients showed a slower response time than age-matched drivers only for BP (P < .001). The lesion side did not affect response latency (P > .05). Results of the TMT revealed that age-matched drivers completed the task significantly faster than stroke patients (P < .001) and that neither TMT-A nor TMT-B differentiated between patients with left hemisphere damage and patients with right hemisphere damage (P > .05).
Conclusions: Firstly, HP in stroke patients is low compared to age-matched drivers. Secondly, even if stroke patients notice hazards, their response may be delayed in a BP situation, due to a slower visual information processing speed. Thirdly, the lesion side does not appear to affect HP. 相似文献
