The spatio-temporal variability of temperature and salinity was studied for a creek network and its adjacent coastal waters along the northwestern coast of the Persian Gulf during warm and cold months. Salinity variations and tidal fluctuations were found to be out of phase throughout the creek. Temperature variations at the creek were exhibit a direct correlation with tidal fluctuations during cold months and were inversely related during warm months. The creek water was colder (warmer) than offshore water during the cold (warm) season. The salinity values observed inside this inverse estuary were higher during the warm season than the corresponding values during the cold season due to a change in evaporation rates; while the open water salinity had an opposite pattern. Using salinity as a tracer, the water-age (WA) was calculated, which shows almost linear increase from the mouth to the head. The maximum WA increases from ~10 days in winter to ~30 days in summer due to the corresponding increase in longitudinal salinity gradient. Based on the calculated non-dimensional Peclet number, the diffusion process is more rapid than the advection process in this water body, especially during the cold season. 相似文献

Nowadays, usage of compensatory models in land evaluation process and site selection is broadly observed. Meanwhile, methods
such as analytical hierarchy process are used more than the others. Whether the usage of compensatory model methods in site
selection studies is essentially correct or not is an issue that should be hesitated. In this model, inefficiency of a factor,
to be offset by strength of others, means that in urban development site selection, if somewhere has unsuitable aspect but
suitable slope, the aspect deficiency will be compensated by the slope. But quodlibet reflection is that in this model, sometimes,
deficiency of proximity to fault can be compensated by other parameters strength. And finally, a place is diagnosed as a suitable
area for urban development that is close to the fault. This research aims at examination of compensatory models application
in urban development site selection of Taleghan Basin using analytical hierarchy process as one of the compensatory model
methods. Among this the weaknesses and strengths of compensatory model were analyzed carefully. Results indicate that despite
usefulness of this model in being fast, easy, and low expense, it has some weaknesses like very high sensitivity to decision

In a comprehensive program of environmental radioactivity survey in South Caspian region,137Cs inventories in soil has been measured at more than 50 sites in the Iranian northern province of Guilan. This has been the
first wide-range survey of soil radionuclide inventories in the narrow band sensitive ecosystem of south Caspian shore. Radioactivity
measurements were carried out using HPGe gamma-spectrometry system. The activity concentration of 137Cs in surface soil exhibits a mean value of 17.6 ± 9.4 Bq kg−1, with a range of 2.3–41.7 Bq kg−1. In many sites, split-level sampling method has been applied down to a depth of 20 cm. There were found generally two profiles.
Most profiles exhibit a negative exponential distribution, while others revealed a clear subsurface peak in 5–10-cm layer.
Cesium deposition in the study area has been estimated to be in the range of 0.38–2.9 kBq m−2 with a mean value of 1.7 kBq m−2. Distribution patterns of 137Cs concentration levels and deposition values have been estimated using Kriging interpolation method. Observed hotspots in

Water scarcity at an alarming rate has been a limiting factor for sustainable agriculture in arid and semi-arid environments of the world. It has resulted in a number of problems such as poverty and food insecurity among farm households. Therefore, building and improving resilience, as a way to mitigate the impacts of water scarcity, is important for farm households. But one of the significant steps for planning to improve farm households’ resilience under water scarcity is investigation of the current level of resilience of these households and understanding their variances. Therefore, this study offers a classification of farm households’ diversity based on resilience. Primary data were collected from 260 randomly selected farm households in 21 villages around Parishan wetland, Iran. Farm Household Resilience Scale was used to measure resilience. Cluster analysis suggested three groups: highly, medium-, and low-resilient farm households. The results of comparing three groups revealed that highly resilient farm households characterize with higher risk management, more agricultural water security, more positive psychological traits, and better knowledge management. Also, they had better water quality, attended more agricultural extension activities, and used modern irrigation systems. Farm households’ resilience map using GIS software illustrated that there is a relationship between resilience and farm location from the wetland. The findings of this study could be used by planner and policy-makers to improve farm households’ resilience in arid and semi-arid environments. Improvement in knowledge management system is recommended as one of the most effective policy instruments in building resilience. 相似文献

Green spaces considered natural remnants in urban environments play a key role in promoting environmental quality and forming a sustainable city. Nowadays, development of urban spaces has taken a hasty growth. In the meanwhile, the natural green spaces are severely damaged. The current study aims at investigating the trend of changes in green space of Tabriz City, the second large industrial city in Iran, on the basis of landscape ecology principles. In order to prepare the land-cover maps, Landsat TM and IRS LISS-III of the years 1989 and 2006 were applied. Alongside, landscape percentage metrics, the largest patch index, number of patches, patch density, edge density, total edge, class area and landscape shape index were also used to analyse the changes. Metric analysis of the landscape within the studied years revealed that a large part of the region has enjoyed a rapid growth (equivalent to 64.5 %) in constructions. As the obtained results showed, the smallest landscape percentage (3.9 %) in the study area is belonged to the municipal green space, while the largest landscape percentage (66 %) is allocated to the barren land. This shows that the constructions have not balanced with creation of new green spaces, and the lack of green space per capita continues to be felt. 相似文献

The Arctic environment is very vulnerable and sensitive to hydrocarbon pollutants. Soil bioremediation is attracting interest as a promising and cost-effective clean-up and soil decontamination technology in the Arctic regions. However, remoteness, lack of appropriate infrastructure, the harsh climatic conditions in the Arctic and some physical and chemical properties of Arctic soils may reduce the performance and limit the application of this technology. Therefore, understanding the weaknesses and bottlenecks in the treatment plans, identifying their associated hazards, and providing precautionary measures are essential to improve the overall efficiency and performance of a bioremediation strategy. The aim of this paper is to review the bioremediation techniques and strategies using microorganisms for treatment of hydrocarbon-contaminated Arctic soils. It takes account of Arctic operational conditions and discusses the factors influencing the performance of a bioremediation treatment plan. Preliminary hazard analysis is used as a technique to identify and assess the hazards that threaten the reliability and maintainability of a bioremediation treatment technology. Some key parameters with regard to the feasibility of the suggested preventive/corrective measures are described as well. 相似文献
