Carbon monoxide concentrations were measured in six shops situated in narrow busy streets of the city centre for ten days in winter and ten days in summer and correlated with the measurements simultaneaously performed at an outdoor background reference point. The correlation was significant for four out of six shops in winter, but not in summer. Day-to-day variations seemed to be influenced by gross contamination due to changing weather conditions whereas differences in concentration levels from site to site were strongly influenced by the proximity and density of traffic. The exposure of a pedestrian in winter was in good correlation with background outdoor levels and it was considerably lower than that of a car driver driving though the city. 相似文献
Simultaneous measurements of CO and respirable particles (RP) at outdoor network stations and of personal exposure in a sample of twelve volunteers were carried out during the winter and summer season of 1980/81 in order to evaluate how well personal exposure can be assessed from outdoor network station data. The results have shown that personal exposure of our subjects to both CO and RP is in best correlation with exposure at home where subjects spend in the average nearly 70% of their time. While personal exposure to CO can hardly be related to outdoor CO levels, personal exposure to RP is in fair agreement with simultaneously measured outdoor concentrations in winter (but not in summer). A large intercept on WAE axis of the WAE/RP relationship indicates that a considerable part of personal exposure to RP should be attributed to particles which are not of indoor origin. This part does not follow the seasonal and day-to-day changes in outdoor RP concentration and causes a negative, but highly significant correlation between WAE/RP ratio and RP. 相似文献
Gamma-ray spectra of terra rossa soil and natural-phosphate ore have been measured in order to determine Th, U, K and 137Cs contents. It has been found that the phosphate ore contains an order of magnitude lower potassium content than average (n.10?3g/g), an average content of thorium (n.10?6g/g), and a two orders of magnitude higher concentration of uranium (n.10?4g/g) than the averages found in the Earth's crust. Terra rossa contains two to three times higher concentrations of Th and U, average concentrations of K, and up to 0.2 Bq/g of 137Cs. Both materials, in our opinion, are suitable for large-sample-calibration purposes and are applicable for radioecological studies of soils. 相似文献
Sediment cores collected in eutrophic subalpine Lake Bled (NW Slovenia) were analyzed sedimentologically in terms of grain
size, mineralogy and sedimentation rates, and geochemically in terms of metals and nutrients. Surficial sediment is composed
of dark gyttya type clayey silt with 5%–10% of organic matter. The sediment below is fine laminated and composed of homogenous
silt and clayey silt: Mineralogically, low-Mg calcite prevails, followed by dolomite, quartz, partially of diatomaceous origin,
and feldspar. Clay minerals are composed of muscovite/illite and chlorite. Authigenic minerals are pyrite and ‘lake chalk’
(low-Mg calcite). Lake sediment is especially polluted by Pb, Zn and P. Higher contents were found in the northwestern and
eastern parts due to the particle input by local inflows. Increasing eutrophication and pollution, indicated by Cd, Cu, V,
Cr, Co and total N and P enrichment in the top layers of the cores, started almost 100 years B.P., and especially 50 years
ago. 相似文献
Reconstruction of the grapevine cultivation history has advanced tremendously during the last decade. Identification of grapevine
cultivars by using microsatellite DNA markers has mostly become a routine. The parentage of several renowned grapevine cultivars,
like Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, has been elucidated. However, the assembly of a complete grapevine genealogy is not
yet possible because missing links might no longer be in cultivation or are even extinct. This problem could be overcome by
analyzing ancient DNA from grapevine herbarium specimens and other historical remnants of once cultivated varieties. Here,
we present the first successful genotyping of a grapevine herbarium specimen and the identification of the corresponding grapevine
cultivar. Using a set of nine grapevine microsatellite markers, in combination with a whole genome amplification procedure,
we found the 90-year-old Tribidrag herbarium specimen to display the same microsatellite profile as the popular American cultivar Zinfandel. This work, together
with information from several historical documents, provides a new clue of Zinfandel cultivation in Croatia as early as the
beginning of fifteenth century, under the native name Tribidrag. Moreover, it emphasizes substantial information potential of existing grapevine and other herbarium collections worldwide. 相似文献
This paper reports results of gamma and alpha spectrometric measurements for mosses, lichens, fungi and soil samples from areas in the Balkans targeted by depleted uranium (DU). Samples were collected in 2002 and 2003 in the vicinity of several villages, principally Han Pijesak (Bosnia and Herzegovina, hit by DU in 1995) and Bratoselce (South Serbia, hit by DU in 1999) and in lesser numbers from Gornja Stubla, Kosovo (which is identified as a high natural radon/thoron area) and Presevo close to the Kosovo border. In the course of gamma spectrometric measurements some results suggested samples with unusual high uranium contents which might be considered to be a signature for the presence of DU, although many samples had very high detection limits. Alpha spectrometric measurements directly proved the presence of DU for five samples, all from directly targeted places. These were samples of mosses, lichens and soil. For some samples homogeneity tests were applied which showed a rather even distribution of DU in these samples. No trace of DU was found in any sample from a dwelling. 相似文献
Trace metals accumulation in soil irrigated with polluted water and human health risk from vegetable consumption was assessed based on the data available in the literature on metals pollution of water, soil, sediment and vegetables from the cites of Bangladesh. The quantitative data on metal concentrations, their contamination levels and their pollution sources have not been systematically gathered and studied so far. The data on metal concentrations, sources, contamination levels, sample collection and analytical tools used were collected, compared and discussed. The USEPA-recommended method for health risk assessment was used to estimate human risk from vegetable consumption. Concentrations of metals in water were highly variable, and the mean concentrations of Cd, Cr, Cu and As in water were found to be higher than the FAO irrigation water quality standard. In most cases, mean concentrations of metals in soil were higher than the Bangladesh background value. Based on geoaccumulation index (Igeo) values, soils of Dhaka city are considered as highly contaminated. The Igeo shows Cd, As, Cu, Ni, Pb and Cr contamination of agricultural soils and sediments of the cities all over the Bangladesh. Polluted water irrigation and agrochemicals are identified as dominant sources of metals in agricultural soils. Vegetable contamination by metals poses both non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risks to the public. Based on the results of the pollution and health risk assessments, Cd, As, Cr, Cu, Pb and Ni are identified as the priority control metals and the Dhaka city is recommended as the priority control city. This study provides quantitative evidence demonstrating the critical need for strengthened wastewater discharge regulations in order to protect residents from heavy metal discharges into the environment. 相似文献
This study presents a comprehensive characterization of occurrence and levels of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in arable soils used for conventional and organic production in northern and central part of Serbia as well as cross-border region with Hungary. Furthermore, this study includes a characterization of PAH sources and carcinogenic/non-carcinogenic human health risk for PAHs accumulated in analysed arable soils. The total concentration of 16 PAHs varied between 55 and 4584 µg kg?1 in agricultural soil used for conventional production and between 90 and 523 µg kg?1 in agricultural soil used for organic production. High molecular weight (HMW) PAHs were dominant compounds with similar contribution in both soil types (86% and 80% in conventional and in organic soil, respectively). Principal component analysis and diagnostic ratios of selected PAHs were used for identification of PAH sources in the analysed soils. Additionally, positive matrix factorization was applied for quantitative assessment. The results indicated that the major sources of PAHs were vehicle emissions, biomass and wood combustion, accounting for?~?93% of PAHs. Exposure of farmers assessed through carcinogenic (TCR) and non-carcinogenic (THQ) risk did not exceed the acceptable threshold (TCR?<?10–6 and THQ?<?1). Oral ingestion was the main exposure route which accounted for 57% of TCR and 80% of THQ. It was followed by dermal contact. This investigation gives a valuable data insight into the PAHs presence in arable soils and reveals the absence of environmental and health risk. It also acknowledges the importance of comprehensive monitoring of these persistent pollutants.
