不同有机物料在潮棕壤中有机碳分解进程 总被引:9,自引:2,他引:9
用尼龙网袋法研究了特定年度中,不同月份间有机物料在潮棕壤旱田、水田中有机碳分解速率及C/N变化。结果表明,4种物料(玉米秸和玉米根,水稻秸和水稻根)在潮棕壤地区温度、湿度适宜的前3个月(1999年7—月)迅速分解,之后进入缓慢分解阶段,其中根的分解残留率始终高于秸秆。经计算约有2/3的玉米根和稻根腐解产物残留在土壤里;分解至试验结束。所有物料的C/N比都趋于一致,约在10—13之间,与土壤腐殖质的洲比非常相近,说明这些物料已基本完成其腐殖化过程,而成为较稳定的有机组分、这对增加土壤有机质、培肥土壤非常重要。 相似文献

Although two billion people in the world are suffering from iodine deficiency there is little information on the chemical fate of iodine in the terrestrial environment. Here we show that peatlands play a major role in terrestrial iodine cycling. Chemical data from two peat profiles from Patagonia, Chile imply that transformation of iodine from its inorganic form to organoiodine compounds during early humification in peatlands is a key process in storage of iodine in the terrestrial environment. Once bound in peat, iodine remains stable for thousands of years. In the earths peatlands, net accumulation of iodine since the last glacial period is estimated to be 12–36 teragrams (1 Tg=1012 g). These data suggest that peatlands are a major reservoir of iodine in terrestrial ecosystems. Our novel model of iodine distribution in the terrestrial environment demonstrates the key role of peatlands in burial and reemission of organically bound iodine. 相似文献

Agricultural practices can lead to copper accumulation in soils and at high concentration it can become toxic for plants.
One common toxic effect of copper on plants is a decrease of crop yield. Here, we studied 1) the crop yield of maize grown
on plots of a soil intentionally enriched with copper sulphate and 2) the possible relationship between the copper concentration
in chemical soil fractions and the maize crop yield. Anthropogenic copper is mainly bound to manganese oxides, to iron oxides
and to the organic matter. Maize (Zea maize L.) was grown on outdoor experimental plots. The crop yield was evaluated for three development stages: the 6–10 leaf stage,
the female flowering stage and the maturity stage, 2, 4 and 6 years after the soil copper enrichment. Strong crop yield reductions,
proving a toxic effect of copper on maize growth were noted 2 years after the copper input at the maturity stage and 4 years
after the copper input at the 6–10 leaf stage. Variations in maize crop yield are described with linear multiple regression
equations including the variable copper content in soil, and other variables when needed such as soil pH, soil organic carbon
level and the climatic variables, the precipitation rate and the ambient temperature. The crop yield study at the 6–10 leaf
stage and at the female flowering stage does not provide significant regression equations, while the crop yield study at the
maturity stage does. Request variables for the models are the total copper content or the copper bound to the organic matter
and the meteorological data.

Much of the theoretical work on the evolution of begging assumes this elaborate display is costly. The evidence for an energetic cost to begging has, however, been equivocal. Metabolic studies on nestling birds suggest that begging requires minimal energy, but some growth studies have shown that excess begging reduces growth rates. One difficulty in interpreting these results is that metabolic and growth studies have each been performed on different species. Here, we test whether high begging frequencies depress growth in nestling tree swallows, Tachycineta bicolor, a species in which the metabolic cost of begging has been measured. When we compared the growth of nestlings stimulated to beg at either high or low frequencies, we found no significant differences in their mass gained, wing growth or portion of ingested energy devoted to begging either during the experimental period or in the 24 h following the end of the experiment. We also found no significant relationship between begging intensity and growth measurements. The results of our study are consistent with previous metabolic studies on this species suggesting that the energetic cost of begging is relatively low. Body size is a fundamental topic in ecology with important implications for community structure and biodiversity. Although there are numerous studies addressing patterns of geographic variation of body size in deep-sea benthos, results are conflicting. Thus geographic patterns of body size in deep-sea organisms remain poorly described. We analysed depth and latitudinal trends of body size in a species of gastropod, Troschelia berniciensis (King, 1846) from the eastern North Atlantic. We tested the hypotheses that (1) body size increases linearly with latitude and (2) body size increases with depth. Results partially supported the predictions. Firstly, there was a significant linear increase of body size with latitude, but this trend was weak. Secondly, body size decreased with depth. Environmental gradients that cause large-scale patterns of body-size variation in surface environments would have little effect on communities living at great depths. Cell biosensors are currently emerging as novel, sensitive techniques to monitor the toxicity of environmental pollutants.
Here, we have developed electric cell-substrate impedance sensing (ECIS) for on-line monitoring of the behavior of insect
cells. Cells were cultured on a microarray of eight small gold electrodes, deposited on the bottom of tissue culture wells.
Upon inoculation, cells showed a tendency to drift downward and attached to the gold surface precoated with the protein Concanavalin
A to accelerate the cell attachment. The impedance increased because the cells acted as insulating particles to restrict the
current flow. The resulting impedance, a coordination of many biological reactions within the cell, was continuously monitored
in real-time to reveal information about cell spreading and micromotion. As the cell behavior was sensitive to external chemicals,
the applicability of ECIS for inhibition assays was demonstrated with HgCl2, 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), 2-amino 4,6-dinitrotoluene (2-ADNT) and 1,3,5-trinitrobenzene (TNB).

Summary. Evidence is presented that pyrrolizidine alkaloid acquired
by Utetheisa ornatrix (Lepidoptera, Arctiidae) as a larva
from Crotalaria foodplants is incorporated in part into the scales
of the adult. A single forewing of a male or female moth may contain in
the order of 6 to 13 g monocrotaline in its scale cover or about 1 to 2%
of the moths systemic monocrotaline content. Based on estimates of the number
of scales per forewing, the monocrotaline content of individual scales is calculated
to be in the order of 0.1 and 0.2 ng monocrotaline per male and female scale,
respectively. This amounts to concentrations of about 1 and 3%, values roughly at
a par with the average systemic concentration (0.5-0.6%) previously determined
for monocrotaline in Utetheisa. It is argued that the presence of pyrrolizidine alkaloid
in the moths scale coating could account for the promptness with which adult Utetheisa are
rejected by spiders. It is suggested further that chemical impregnation of scales with substances
deterrent to predators may be more widespread among insects than generally assumed. 相似文献

The foraging areas and diets of the grey-headed albatross Thalassarche chrysostoma and wandering albatross Diomedea exulans were studied in March/April 2000 at Bird Island, South Georgia, during their respective chick-rearing and brood-guard periods. Oceanographically, March/April 2000 was abnormal, with warm conditions close to South Georgia. These conditions affected albatross foraging behaviour, particularly that of grey-headed albatrosses. Both species tended to forage in different areas of the ocean, with significant differences in trip durations. Grey-headed albatrosses (n=9) foraged mainly in Antarctic waters (predominantly shelf waters of the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula, and also in oceanic waters around South Georgia), feeding mainly on krill (Euphausia superba; 77% by mass). Foraging trips lasted 13.3 days (range: 5–26 days), far longer than the 1–3 days found in previous studies. Only one grey-headed albatross was associated with the APF (Antarctic Polar Front), a reported foraging area in recent studies. Wandering albatrosses (n=9) foraged in Antarctic (South Georgia Shelf) and Antarctic Polar Frontal Zone (APFZ) waters, with trips of 1–4 days trip duration (usual for this species), feeding on fish (46% by mass) and cephalopods (32%). One bird was associated with the APF, and two birds foraged on the shelf/shelf break over the Patagonian shelf. These findings suggest that sea surface temperature anomalies, produced by movement of the APF closer to South Georgia or by eddies, may have had an effect on the foraging strategy of grey-headed albatrosses that year (the main prey of grey-headed albatrosses in previous studies, the ommastrephid Martialia hyadesi, is known to be associated with the APF). To estimate air pollution snow samples were collected in March 2001 at six sites in the vicinity of the Kostomuksha factory
in Karelia. Seventy-two chemical elements and more than 200 individual organic compounds were identified by inductively coupled
plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS). It was found that the levels of Li, B,
Al, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Hg, Mn, Mo as well as hydrocarbons, phthalates and phenols exceeded the existing maximum allowable concentrations.
A list of toxicants emitted with the factory exhausts and a list of priority pollutants for Kostomuksha were compiled. The
impact of the exhausts of the Kostomuksha factory on the environment in Finland is relatively small.
