In this study, a traditional assay was modified to evaluate the effect of Hg, Cd, and Zn on the bacterial community of a sequencing batch reactor and activated sludge plants and heavy metal-resistant bacterial species were determined. After the isolation of metal-resistant bacteria, their 16S rRNA gene fragments were sequenced. The BLAST program was used to compare the resulting 16S rRNA sequences with those in GenBank database to identify the isolated bacterial species. Hg was found to be the most toxic metal for both bacterial communities investigated. Sequence batch reactor bacteria were comparatively more resistant to Hg, Cd, and Zn than those from activated sludge. The resistant strains were close to the members of genus Pseudomonas, Kocuria, Stenotrophomonas, Enterococcus, and Staphylococcus. The modified dehydrogenase enzyme assay seems to be simple, robust, and competent for evaluation of the impact of metals on bacterial activity. Sequencing batch reactor systems should be preferred over activated sludge when wastewaters containing hazardous metals are to be treated. 相似文献

Introduction. Studying human errors as a risk factor in the occurrence of accidents is necessary. Thus, the aim of this study was to identify, predict and control human errors in industrial control units. Method. This is a case study carried out using SHERPA in the first unit of Zagros Methanol of Asalooyeh, Iran, and its subunits. To collect the required data, various methods were used: observing, interviewing processing specialists and control unit operators, and studying technical documents and records. Results. In total, 222 human errors were identified in various occupational tasks. This study showed that 48.62% of them were action errors, 31.97% were checking errors, 6.75% were retrieval errors, 11.70% were communication errors and 0.90% were selection errors. Conclusion. It can be inferred that this method is appropriate for different industries, and it is useful for identifying human errors leading to hazardous accidents. 相似文献

Heterogeneous catalysts are used for control of environmental pollution. Heterogeneous catalysts are easily separated from
the reaction mixture, thus allowing their recovery and re-use. There is a need for catalysts that are efficient under mild
conditions. Here, we show that silica-supported antimony(III) chloride (SbCl3/SiO2) acts as a highly efficient heterogeneous Lewis acid catalyst for the Paal–Knorr pyrrole synthesis at room temperature. We
found that condensation of hexane-2,5-dione with aromatic and aliphatic primary amines in hexane using SbCl3/SiO2 with 7.6 wt% SbCl3 was the best reaction condition. The silica support facilitated the workup of the reaction mixture and provided a reusable
catalyst at least for 7 runs without significant loss in activity. Indeed, the yield was 98% for the first run and 84% for
the 7th run. We conclude that low catalyst loading, operational simplicity, practicability and applicability to various substrates
make this reaction an interesting alternative to previously applied procedures. From the environmental standpoint, this eco-friendly
catalyst is stable, highly active, easy to prepare and handle. 相似文献

This investigation discloses a greener reaction to prepare pyrrole derivatives. Metal-free catalysts are greener alternatives to existing metal catalysts in synthetic organic chemistry. Indeed, transition metals are often costly and toxic. They may be found as traces in health reaction products such as pharmaceuticals. Alternatively small organic molecules termed “organocatalysts” allow the synthesis of valuable products without traces of toxic metals. Here, we show for the first time the use of vitamin B1 as new organocatalyst for the Paal–Knorr pyrrole synthesis under ambient conditions. Reaction conditions were optimized for the reaction of hexane-2,5-dione with 4-methoxyaniline. Ethanol was the most effective solvent. The conversion was quantitative using vitamin B1, by comparison with a low yield of 30?% without catalysis. The best conditions were performed in ethanol with 5?mol % of vitamin B1 during 1?h. This reaction was tested using various aromatic amines. To conclude the use of vitamin B1 for the Paal–Knorr pyrrole, cyclocondensation has mild reaction conditions, is simple to perform, and gives moderate to excellent yields. It is therefore a promising reaction for the preparation of various pyrrole derivatives. 相似文献

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. Therefore, there is an urgent need to identify and develop therapeutic strategies against this deadly disease. This study is the first to investigate the cytotoxic and apoptotic effects of Scrophularia oxysepala in MCF-7 human breast cancer cells. Dichloromethane, methanol and n-hexane extracts of Scrophularia oxysepala were examined. The 3-(4,5-dimethylethiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium (MTT) reduction and trypan-blue exclusion assays were performed in MCF-7 cells as well as control cell line MCF10A to analyze the cytotoxic activity of the plant. Furthermore, the apoptosis-inducing action of extracts of the plant was evaluated using cell death detection ELISA, the terminal deoxynucleotide transferase dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay, Western blotting and real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The results showed that dichloromethane and methanol extracts significantly inhibited cell growth and viability without inducing damage to MCF10A cells. Cell death detection ELISA, morphological changes of cells in TUNEL assay, Western blot detection of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) cleavage and increase in the mRNA expression levels of p-53, caspase-3 and c-myc showed that the induction of apoptosis was the main mechanism of cell death. Our results strongly suggest that this plant may contain potential bioactive compound(s) for the treatment of breast cancer. 相似文献

Phytoremediation is a promising technique for cleaning petroleum contaminated soils. In this study, the effects of two grass species (Festuca arundinacea Schreb. and Festuca pratensis Huds.), infected (E(+)) and non-infected (E(-)) by endophytic fungi (Neotyphodium coenophialum and Neotyphodium uncinatum, respectively) on the degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in an aged petroleum contaminated soil was investigated. Plants were grown in the soil for 7 months and unplanted soil considered as control. At the end of the experiment, total and oil-degrading bacteria, dehydrogenase activity, water-soluble phenols, total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) contents were measured in the soil. The results demonstrated that E(+) plants contained more root and shoot biomass than E(-) plants and created higher levels of water-soluble phenols and dehydrogenase activity in the soil, while there was no significant difference in bacterial counts of planted soils. Planting stimulated total and oil-degrading bacterial numbers, dehydrogenase activity and the soil content of water-soluble phenols. Regardless of endophyte infection, PAH and TPH removal in the rhizosphere of plants were 80-84 and 64-72% respectively, whereas the removals in controls were 56 and 31%, respectively. It was revealed that TPHs in retention time range of n-alkanes with C(10)-C(25) chain lengths and TPH were more degraded in the rhizosphere of E(+) plants compared to E(-) ones. Thus, grasses infected with endophytic fungi could be more efficient for removal of TPH from oil-contaminated soils. 相似文献

The current research was carried out to find the most effective environmental factors in plant species occurrence and providing
their predictive habitat models. For this purpose, study was conducted in Poshtkouh rangelands of Yazd province in the central
of Iran. For modeling, vegetation data in addition to site condition information including topography, climate, geology and
soil were prepared. CCA and Logistic regression (LR) techniques were implemented for plant species predictive modeling. To
plants predictive mapping, it is necessary to prepare the maps of all affective factors of models. To mapping soil characteristics,
geoestatistical method including variogram analysis and Kriging interpolation were used. Based on obtained predictive models
for each species (through LR method) and for whole species (through CCA method) related predictive maps were prepared in GIS.
The accuracy of predictive maps were tested with actual vegetation maps. Vegetation modeling results with CCA indicates that
predictive map of vegetation corresponds with actual map (with high accuracy). Predictive maps of Cornulaca monachantha, Ephedra strobilacea-Zygophyllum eurypterum, Seidlitzia rosmarinus, and Tamarix ramosissima, which have narrow amplitude, has high accordance with actual vegetation map prepared for the study area. Among species of
study area, predictive model of Artemisia sieberi, due to its ability to grow in most parts of Poshtkouh rangelands with relatively different habitat conditions, is not possible.
Comparing CCA and LR methods showed that each technique has its advantages and drawbacks. In general, LR will provide better
specific-model, but CCA will provide a broader overview of multiple species. 相似文献

Exposure to perchlorethylene, especially for dry cleaning workers and for people living near dry cleaning shops, could lead to several diseases and disorders. This study examines the value of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) for sampling perchlorethylene in the atmosphere of dry cleaning shops. Carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane (CAR/PDMS) in 0.5-cm retracted mode was selected. There were no significant differences between sampling rates at different temperatures (range of 20 to 30 °C) and air velocities (2 to 50 cm/s). On the opposite, relative humidity (RH) had a significant effect on sampling rates. Method reproducibility was realized in the laboratory and field conditions and was 6.2 % and 7 to 11 %, respectively. Repeatability was also determined as 8.9 %. Comparison of the results according to the American Industrial Hygiene Association exposure assessment strategy showed the SPME sampler yields more conservative results in comparison with traditional standard method. 相似文献
