In heating treatment of fly ash to reduce PCDD/Fs, cooling process is important to inhibit de novo formation of PCDD/Fs. In this study, assuming that residual carbon is the dominant factor of de novo synthesis, the relation between PCDD/Fs and residual carbon was examined. Firstly, by using MSWI fly ash which was treated in an actually operated facility, both the content of PCDD/Fs and residual carbon were decreased as heating temperature increased. At temperatures higher than 400 degrees C, the reduction rate of residual carbon was higher than 20% and more than 95% of PCDD/Fs was decomposed. In order to simulate a heating treatment process, fly ash was heated at different temperatures and gas atmospheres, oxygen or nitrogen. Heated fly ash was placed for 2 h at 300 degrees C in oxygen to promote de novo synthesis, or cooled immediately. As a result, good correlation between PCDD/Fs and residual carbon was found, therefore it was shown experimentally that residual carbon was the main factor for PCDD/Fs formation by de novo synthesis in fly ash.  相似文献

A differential equation was employed in modelling deforestation by human population interactions to yield an explicit mathematical model. The theoretical relation and many possible models were applied to the grid cell data in Hiroshima Prefecture, and relative appropriateness of each model was evaluated by Akaike's information criterion (AIC) using raw data. Intensive further verification was executed bythe bootstrap method. It was demonstrated that the theoretical relation was in the best agreement among many other models in comparison.  相似文献

Certain enteric viruses that are present in the water environment are potential risk factors of waterborne infections. To better understand the impact of viruses in water, both enteric viruses and their potential indicators should be comparatively investigated. In this study, occurrences of GI- and GII-noroviruses (NoVs), sapovirus (SaV), rotavirus (RoV), Aichi virus 1 (AiV-1), enterovirus (EV), and pepper mild mottle virus (PMMoV) were quantitatively determined in surface water samples in Japan. Additionally, the genotype distribution of GI- and GII-NoVs was determined using a next-generation amplicon sequencing. PMMoV was the most abundant virus regardless of season and location, indicating its usefulness as an indicator for the viral contamination of water. Other potential indicators, AiV and EV, were less abundant than GII-NoV. Viruses other than PMMoV showed seasonality, i.e., EV and other viruses (NoVs, SaV, RoV, and AiV-1) became prevalent during summer and winter, respectively. SaV showed a relatively high abundance at a location that was affected by untreated wastewater. Regarding NoV genotypes, GI.1, GI.2, GI.4, GI.5, GI.6, GII.3, GII.4, GII.6, and GII.17 were found from the surface water samples. GII.4 and GII.17 seemed to have contributed to the high abundance of GII-NoV in the samples. Interestingly, GII.17 strains became prevalent in the water samples before becoming prevalent among gastroenteritis patients in Japan. These findings provide further insights into the properties of viruses as contaminants in the water environment.  相似文献

A polymer adsorbent in which a Zr(IV)-edta complex analogue is immobilized has been prepared and applied to the removal of oxo-anions of As(III), As(V) and Se(IV). Effective retention of these anions has been demonstrated with the proposed polymer complex system. The adsorption mechanism of oxo-anions onto the Zr(IV)-chelated polymer complex has been investigated using Zr(IV)-edta as the model compound. The formation of mixed complexes with oxo-anions has been exemplified by the isolation of the carbonato complex K2[Zr(CO3)edta].3H2O, the structure of which has been confirmed by X-ray crystallography. NMR study suggests that oxo-anions that form weak or moderate conjugate acids, including those of As(III), As(V) and Se(IV), can form mixed complexes with Zr(IV)-edta using the unsaturated coordination site. However, oxo-anions of strong conjugate acids did not show any appreciable interaction with this complex. According to these observations, retention of oxo-anions on the Zr(IV)-chelated polymer complex has been interpreted by a ligand substitution reaction. The adsorption characteristics of As(III), As(V) and Se(IV) on the Zr(IV)-loaded resin have been examined with respect to the equilibrium adsorption, percentage extraction and the effect of co-existing ions. The adsorption and desorption cycles of the oxo-anions have been demonstrated using a column packed with the proposed resin without any loss of column performance, which indicates the possibility for repeated use.  相似文献

Poly[(disodium methylene malonate)-co-(vinyl alcohol)] [P(DSMM-VA)] and poly[(disodium ethoxymethylene malonate)-co-(vinyl alcohol)] [P(DSEMM-VA)] containing a poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) block as a biodegradable segment were prepared and their biodegradability and functionality were evaluated and compared with those of the corresponding fumarate and maleate copolymers. It was found that the 1,1-dicarboxylate-type copolymers, P(DSMM-VA) and P(DSEMM-VA), showed better biodegradability than the corresponding 1,2-dicarboxylate-type copolymers, P(DSF-VA) and P(DSM-VA). This improved biodegradability of P(DSMM-VA) and P(DSEMM-VA) is probably attributable to their more expanded polymer chain in aqueous solution, which will be more accessible to the degrading enzymes. The minimum chain length of the PVA-block, which acts as a biodegradable segment in the polymer chain, is estimated to be 2–3 and 3–4 monomer units for P(DSMM-VA) and P(DSEMM-VA), respectively. On the other hand, the minimum PVA block is about 5 and 7 monomer units for the fumarate and maleate copolymers, respectively. This study discusses soil fertility under perennial cash crop farming (para rubber, Hevea brasiliensis; black pepper, Piper nigrum; oil palm, Elaeis guineensis) conducted by local farmers and an oil palm estate in an upland area of Sarawak, Malaysia, in comparison with the surrounding secondary forests. In the farmlands of the local farmers, rubber farming was conducted without fertilizer application, while 2–5 t ha?1 of NPK compounds were applied annually on pepper farms. Soils under rubber farming were acidic with poor nutrient contents, resembling soils in secondary forests. In pepper farms, soils were less acidic and showed high nutrient contents, especially with respect to available P and exchangeable Ca. This trend became stronger with increasing farming duration. Fertilizers applied around pepper vines appeared to migrate and spread across the fields. Bulk density and hardness of surface soils were higher in pepper farms than in secondary forests, indicating soil compaction due to field works. In the oil palm estate, annual fertilizer application rates were moderate at 0.4–0.8 t ha?1 of NPK compound fertilizers. However, the soil properties in the oil palm estate were similar to those of the small-scale pepper farms. Close to the bases of the palms where fertilizers usually are applied, the contents of exchangeable Ca and available P were high. Nutrient uptake by the dense root systems of the palms seemed to prevent excessive loss of nutrients through leaching. Loss of soil organic matter and deterioration of soil physical properties were brought about by terrace bench construction, but the soils seemed to recover to some extent over time. In conclusion, technologies such as intercropping and the appropriate allocation of different crops to specific locations as well as the proper selection and dosage of fertilizers should be developed and adopted to improve fertilizer efficiency and prevent water pollution due to fertilizer wash-off from farmlands.  相似文献

In order to develop effective conservation strategies for endangered migratory species, the link between feeding and breeding grounds needs to be clarified. In this study, the genetic compositions of consecutive Japanese feeding aggregations of green turtles (Chelonia mydas) along the Kuroshio Current were examined by mixed-stock analyses of mitochondrial DNA control-region sequences. The results indicated that the southern feeding aggregation around Yaeyama (24.3°N, 124.0°E) was sourced from various Pacific rookeries in the Yaeyama, Ogasawara, Western Pacific, and Indian Oceans and Southeast Asia. Among northern feeding aggregations, the Ginoza (26.5°N, 128.0°E) aggregation was also sourced from the Western Pacific Ocean, but the Nomaike (31.4°N, 130.1°E), Muroto (33.2°N, 134.2°E), and Kanto (35.6°N, 140.5°E) aggregations were contributed mostly by the closer Ogasawara rookeries. The reduced contribution from tropical Pacific rookeries to northern feeding aggregations and the significant correlation between genetic differentiation and geographical distance matrices of feeding aggregations indicated that most hatchlings from these regions transported by the Kuroshio Current settle in upstream feeding grounds along the Japanese archipelago, implying that current flow influences the composition of feeding aggregations. Differences in the composition of relatively close neritic feeding aggregations have important conservation implications, for which both regional and multinational conservation strategies are needed.  相似文献

We have discovered that HNO3 and related species are released from the TiO2 surface into air in the TiO2 photocatalytic oxidation of NO2 (1 ppm) under continuous UV light illumination (1 mW cm−2) by dehumidifying the outlet gas of the reaction and analyzing the recovered condensate liquid by ion chromatography. The origin of the HNO3 recovered in the dehumidifier could not be explained by a simple desorption of HNO3 overproduced on the TiO2 surface. The produced HNO3 must be activated on the TiO2 surface and causing the unidentified reaction.  相似文献

A new iron oxide catalyst, which has a superior oxidation activity in carbon monoxide and polyethylene (PE) combustion, was synthesized by an aqueous solution reaction. Catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide over six kinds of hematite obtained from the goethite was done using a microcatalytic pulse reactor, and the composition of the hematite with the highest oxidation activity was determined. With the aim of suppressing dioxin formation on combustion, incineration tests of solid wastes in PE refuse bags with and without the goethite were carried out using a commercial semibatch-type incinerator with a combustion chamber of 6.2 m3. The result confirmed that the concentration of dioxins in the flue gas decreased considerably when the refuse was incinerated in PE bags manufactured with goethite.
