The present study aims to clarify the necessity and effectiveness of considering fuzziness in modelling fish habitat preference, and the advantages which would be achieved by considering it. For this purpose, genetic algorithm (GA) optimized habitat preference models under three different levels of fuzzification were compared with regard to prediction ability of the habitat use of Japanese medaka (Oryzias latipes) dwelling in agricultural canals in Japan. Field surveys were conducted in agricultural canals in Japan to establish a relationship between fish habitat preference and physical environments of water depth, current velocity, lateral cover ratio and percent vegetation coverage. The habitat preference models employed for testing the fuzzy-based approach were category model, fuzzy habitat preference model, and fuzzy habitat preference model with fuzzy inputs. All the models were developed at 50 different initial conditions. The effectiveness of the fuzzification in fish habitat modelling was assessed by comparing mean square error and standard deviation of the models, and fluctuation in habitat preference curves evaluated by each model. As a result, the effect of fuzzification appeared as smoother curves and was found to reduce fluctuation in habitat preference curves in proportion to the level of fuzzification. The smooth curves would be appropriate for expressing uncertainty in habitat preference of the fish, by which fuzzy habitat preference model with fuzzy input achieve the best prediction ability among the models. In conclusion, the present study revealed that there are two advantages of fuzzification: reducing fluctuations in habitat preference evaluation and improving prediction ability of the model. Therefore, the consideration of fuzziness would be appropriate for representing fish habitat preference under natural conditions.  相似文献

Sustainable sanitation is an approach for more ecological and sustainable water resources management. In this paper, we proposed one of the new integrated waste treatment systems: an "sustainable sanitation system" that includes separation of the black water from water system by a non-flushing toilet (bio-toilet), and a gray water treatment based on a biological and ecological concept. Sustainable sanitation system also converts the domestic waste to soil conditioners and fertilizers, for farmland use. As one of the case studies, Environmentally Symbiotic Housing in which people actually live using the bio-toilet for the black water treatment and the household wastewater treatment facility for the gray water was introduced. The availability of this system was investigated by analyzing the sawdust used in the bio-toilet and the quality of the effluent in the household wastewater treatment facility. As the result, the water content of the sawdust did not exceed 60% in any of the sampling points and the BOD and COD of the effluent of the household wastewater treatment facility were below 10 and 20 mg/L respectively, due to the low loading. Compared to the pollution load on the water environment created by the conventional system, it was found that the effluent of the house has a lower load than the tertiary treatment and the volume of the water consumption is 75% of the conventional system.  相似文献

Total OH reactivity for the exhaust gas of gasoline vehicles was measured for the first time under nine different driving conditions with a chassis dynamometer at the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES). Along with the total OH reactivity measurements, analysis of trace species such as CH4, CO, NO, NO2, and 56 kinds of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including two aldehydes, was carried out. The ratio of alkanes to alkenes in the exhaust gas turned out to depend on the condition of the driving cycles. There were a considerable number of unidentified peaks obtained during GC analysis. About 15–30% of the total carbon was unidentified species. The chemical compositions of vehicular exhaust were found to depend on the temperature of the engine or catalysts. The contribution of OH reactivity to the species obtained depended on the temperature condition for the engine. The calculated total OH reactivity for VOCs was compared with ozone formation potential (OFP) and it turned out that there are in good correlation, while the correlation for “Cold” start deviates from that for “Hot” start. The measured and calculated OH reactivities were compared with each other. For all driving cycles, the calculated OH reactivity was confirmed to be an underestimation, implying the existence of unknown species in the exhaust gas. The percentage contribution of OH reactivity to the unknown species during “Cold” start was about 17.5%, which was almost the same as that for “Hot” start at 17.0%. However, the absolute value of OH reactivity for “Cold” start was about ten times higher than that for “Hot” start.  相似文献

Academics, policymakers, and practitioners have long considered peace and sustainability to be fundamentally linked. However, despite the increased attention paid toward the intersection of peace and sustainability, there is still limited knowledge on the nature of their linkages. To advance the current understanding on the peace–sustainability nexus and inform an integrated research agenda, this paper employs a scientometric analysis of literature to identify publication trends, thematic clusters, and knowledge gaps. Analyzing the publications according to the types of peace, the pillars of positive peace, the dimensions of sustainability, and the SDGs further reveals weak engagement among academic disciplines and across the SDGs. We investigated the vertical profiles of 239+240Pu, 137Cs, and excess 210Pb (210Pbex) in sediment core samples obtained from two freshwater lakes and two brackish lakes situated near the first commercial spent nuclear fuel reprocessing plant in Rokkasho, Japan, before the final test of the plant using actual spent nuclear fuel. The inventory of 239+240Pu in those lakes was larger than that in soil in Rokkasho, which indicated the inflow of 239+240Pu from the catchment area in addition to direct deposition on the lake surfaces. The 137Cs inventory in sediments of the brackish lakes was lower than that in the soil, which showed that part of the 137Cs was removed from the sediments by the brackish water or that it was not deposited into the sediments, because of the high solubility of Cs in brackish water. The 137Cs inventory in sediments of the freshwater lakes was higher than that of the brackish lakes, and comparable with that in soil except for one core sample out of four. The 239+240Pu/137Cs ratio in freshwater lake sediments was higher than that in soil, and that indicated that part of the 137Cs was lost from the sediments. The low inventory of 137Cs may be attributable to competition for absorption sites in sediments with ammonium ions formed in the reducing environment which occurs from summer to fall in the sediments. Those data will be used as background data on the artificial radionuclides in the lakes to assess the effect of released radionuclides on their concentrations.  相似文献

To understand the characteristics of non-methane hydrocarbon (NMHC) abundance in an urban air of Nagoya, one of the metropolitan areas of Japan, 48 species of C2–C11 NMHCs were measured with a measurement system, developed in this study, by using gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC/FID) continuously for one year from December 2003 to November 2004.Annual mean concentration of NMHCs in normal and propylene equivalent (PE) in Nagoya was compared with those in four urban areas of Seoul, London, Lille, and Dallas to extract characteristics of urban air. While the absolute values of the normal and PE concentrations of alkanes, alkenes, alkyne, and aromatics were significantly different among these urban areas, the proportions of each chemical group to the total NMHC were not so different.In Nagoya, the total normal concentration was high from November to February and low from June to August. The pattern of the seasonal variation was influenced mainly by that of alkanes. On the other hand, the total PE concentration was high from July to December and low from January to June. The pattern of the seasonal variation was influenced mainly by those of alkenes and aromatics. Particularly the normal concentration of isoprene was high from May to September because of large emission associated with activity of plants. As the results, in summer, the PE concentration of isoprene was especially high, and its contribution to the total NMHCs measured in this study was approximately 40%. The total PE concentrations were high in summer when the concentration of OH radicals is also high, suggesting that the productions of ozone and secondary organic aerosol (SOA) are likely to be promoted in summer of Nagoya.  相似文献

Poly(dl-lactic acid) or PLA is a biodegradable polymer. It has received much attention since it plays an important role in resolving the global warming problem. The protease produced by Actinomadura keratinilytica strain T16-1 was previously reported as having PLA depolymerase potential and being applicable to PLA biodegradation, which was used in this work. Therefore, this research demonstrates the important basic knowledge on the biological degradation process by the crude PLA-degrading enzyme from strain T16-1. Its re-polymerization was evaluated. The optimization of PLA degradation by statistical methods based on central composite design was determined. Approximately 6700 mg/l PLA powder was degraded by the crude enzyme under optimized conditions: an initial enzyme activity of 200 U/ml, incubated at 60 °C for 24 h released 6843 mg/l lactic acid with 82% conversion, which was similar to the commercial enzyme proteinase K (81%). The degradable products were re-polymerized repeatedly by using commercial lipase as a catalyst under a nitrogen atmosphere for 6 h. A PLA oligomer was achieved with a molecular weight of 378 Da (n = 5). This is the first report to demonstrate the high efficiency of the enzyme to degrade 100% of PLA powder and to show the biological recycling process of PLA, which is promising for the treatment and utilization of biodegradable plastic wastes in the future.  相似文献
