This study describes the relations between different dimensions of leadership commitment, safety climate and attitudes toward change, and how these affect employee perceptions of safety during organizational change in a high risk environment. We collected data from a European national air navigation services provider during a volatile 3-year corporatization process that ended in the sudden collapse of a deliberate change implementation project. Surprisingly, despite visible signs of internal and external stress caused by the volatile and disruptive change process, we did not observe any change in the traditional safety metrics of incident and accident reporting during the study. The study is based on a large survey (n = 422) of individual attitudes and perceptions of safety climate, perception of leadership commitment to safety, attitudes to organizational change, and perception of safety. The data support the claim that perception of safety at least, in part, depends on individual perceptions of the leadership’s commitment to safety, and the safety climate in place at a given point in time. The model shows how employee perceptions of the leadership’s commitment to safety and safety climate are related to both attitudes toward change, and to perceived safety. 相似文献

An analysis of the environmental effects and resource consumption by four systems for management of wastewater and organic household waste in a new city area have been performed, as follows: (1) conventional system complemented with advanced sludge treatment for phosphorus recovery, (2) blackwater system with urine diversion and food waste disposers, (3) blackwater system with food waste disposers and reverse osmosis, and (4) local wastewater treatment plant with nutrient recovery by using reverse osmosis. Substance-flow analysis and energy/exergy calculations were performed by using the software tool URWARE/ORWARE. Emissions were calculated and classified based on the impact categories global warming potential, acidification, and eutrophication, according to ISO 14042 (2000). The analysis also included nutrient recovery (i.e., the potential to use nutrients as a fertilizer). To study future, sustainable production systems, a step-wise method was used to create three future scenarios for pig production based on different sustainability goals. The first scenario focused on animal welfare and the natural behavior of the animals. The second targeted low impacts on the environment and the efficient use of natural resources. The third scenario aimed at product quality and safety. Each scenario fulfilled different aspects of sustainability, but there were goal conflicts because no scenario fulfilled all sustainability goals. The scenarios were then parameterized. The environmental impact was calculated using the life-cycle assessment (LCA) methodology, and the economic cost was calculated from the same data set. The cost per kilo of pork was highest for the animal welfare scenario and similar for the other two scenarios. Leachates from roasted sulfide residues, which are the wastes from the production of sulfuric acid at Falun, Sweden, have low pH and high concentrations of Zn, Fe, and SO4. The minerals are mainly hematite and maghemite and, because the various sulfides in the feed behave differently during the roasting process, the residual sulfides minerals are pyrrhotite and sphalerite. Oxidation of the residual sulfides contributes acidity, Zn, Fe, Cu, Cd, and sulfate to the effluents from the waste deposits. The dissolution of sphalerite is most likely accelerated in acid solution rich in Fe (III). The formation of Pb-sulfate coatings on galena may provides an armoring effect which slows the oxidation of the galena. Residual sulfides are source phases controlling long-term contaminant release. Other source minerals for Zn, Fe, Pb, Cu, Cd and SO4 in the effluents are iron oxides which retained percentage quantities of SO4, roast-derived alteration rims of Zn oxides on sphalerite, alterated silicates formed during the roasting process, and secondary minerals (e.g. Zn, Fe, Cu sulfates, iron hydroxides) that were precipitated by in-site oxidation in the waste dumps. The Zn, Fe, and Cu sulfates most likely control short-term changes in the chemistry of the leachate, while Pb concentration in the leachates may be controlled predominantly by Pb-release from the altered silicates. The mineralogical and geochemical data provide fundamental information essential for the remedial management of this type of industial waste. 相似文献
