Abstract Potatoes were grown in Plainfield sand and muck treated, in furrow, with aldicarb (Temik 15G, 3.36 kg Al/ha). .Soils were contained in 2 mz field plots and had not been treated previously with pesticides. Soil, seed pieces, foliage and tubers were analyzed for the insecticide and its sulfoxide and sulfone metabolites during the 12 wk following planting. The disappearance of aldicarb from the soil was accompanied by partial conversion to the sulfoxide and sulfone. After increasing rapidly during the first 2 wk, the aldicarb concentration in the seed piece declined and a similar concentration of aldicarb sulfoxide accumulated which subsequently slowly disappeared. Aldicarb sulfoxide was the major insecticidal material in the new foliage. High initial concentrations, observed at 3–4 wk, declined by about 90% after 6 wk. Aldicarb sulfoxide residues of 2–4 ppm in the first new tubers at 6 wk declined by 90% by 12 wk. Potatoes were also grown under greenhouse conditions in Plainfield sand treated with Temik 10G at rates equivalent to 1.68, 3.36 and 6.72 kg Al/ha. Maximum aldicarb sulfoxide concentrations in soil, seed piece and foliage increased with application rate. The sulfoxide was much more persistent in the soil and foliage than in the field experiment indicating the importance of environmental factors to its behaviour in both soil and potato plants. 相似文献

Effect of crude oil contaminated sediment exposure on cytochrome P450 enzymes in the Australian asteroid Coscinasterias muricata 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Levels of cytochrome P450 enzymes were measured in pyloric caeca microsomes of the asteroid Coscinasterias muricata following exposure to sediment with nominal concentrations of 0, 0.1 or 2 ml crude oil kg(-1) (dry weight) and subsequent depuration. No significant differences were observed in total cytochrome P450 levels or cytochrome P418 levels following the exposure period. However after five days of depuration, levels of total P450 in the pyloric caeca of C. muricata exposed to the highest oiled sediment concentration were significantly lower than in specimens exposed to the other treatments. Cytochrome P418 levels were inversely related to total P450 levels following exposure and subsequent depuration. Preliminary results show that levels of CYP1A-like immunopositive protein (CYP1A-like IPP) in exposed asteroids exhibited a concentration response relationship following the exposure period. Variations in CYP1A-like IPP levels observed during the depuration period may be influenced by the sublethal toxicity of hydrocarbons within the crude oil. 相似文献

We investigated the plasticity of spines of the burrowing heart urchin Echinocardium cordatum inhabiting sandy beaches. This urchin has very specialized spines which play specific roles in feeding and locomotion. Biometrical and mechanical properties of the spine skeleton of individuals from a wave-exposed intertidal site and a protected subtidal site (Brittany, France) were compared and related to sediment grain size, food supply and urchin small-scale distribution and burrowing depth. The intertidal site was characterized by coarser sand; the urchins were more scattered and more deeply buried than in the subtidal site. Intertidal urchins were bigger than subtidal urchins but showed similar resource allocation. Spines of intertidal urchins were longer than those of subtidal urchins, their architecture was reinforced and they presented a higher fracture force and stiffness. These spine differences would be essentially due to passive plasticity, but could also be adaptative at a certain extent. 相似文献

Food sources for cultivated marine bivalves generally are not well identified, although they are essential for a better understanding
of coastal ecosystems and for the sustainability of shellfish farming activities. In addition to phytoplankton, other organic
matter sources (OMS), such as microphytobenthos and detritus (of terrestrial or marine origins), can contribute significantly
to the growth of marine bivalves. The aim of this study was to identify the potential food sources and to estimate their contributions
to the growth of the Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas) in two contrasting trophic environments of Normandy (France): the Baie des Veys (BDV) and the Lingreville area (LIN). Two
sites were studied in the BDV area (BDV-S and BDV-N) and one in the LIN area. To estimate the contribution of each type of
OMS, we used a combination of stable natural isotope composition (δ13C, δ15N) analysis of OMS and oyster tissue together with a modelling exercise. Field sampling was conducted every 2 months over
1 year. The sampled sources were suspended particulate organic matter from marine (PhyOM) and terrestrial (TOM) origins, microphytobenthos
(MPB), detrital organic matter from the superficial sediment (SOM), and macroalgae (Ulva sp., ULV). A statistical mixing model coupled to a bioenergetic model was used to calculate the contributions of each different
source at different seasons. Results showed that isotopic composition of the animal flesh varied with respect to the potential
OMS over the year within each ecosystem. Significant differences were also observed among the three locations. For instance,
the δ13C and δ15N values of the oysters ranged from −20.0 to −19.1‰ and from 6.9 to 10.8‰ at BDV-S, from −19.4 to −18.1‰ and from 6.4 to 10.0‰
at BDV-N, and from −21.8 to −19.4‰ and from 6.3 to 8.3‰ at LIN. The contributions of the different sources to oyster growth
differed depending on the ecosystem and on the period of the year. Phytoplankton (PhyOM) predominated as the principal food
source for oysters (particularly in the LIN location). MPB, TOM, and ULV detritus also possibly contributed to oysters’ diet
during summer and autumn at the BDV-S and BDV-N sites. SOM was not considered an OMS because it was already a mix of the other
four OMS, but rather a trophic reservoir that potentially mirrored the trophic functioning of marine ecosystems. 相似文献
