A hundred years of lectin research has led to the development of lectinology as an independent field of study. Although lectinology is in part related to immunology, fundamental differences exist. Lectins are important tools in biochemistry, histochemistry and clinical diagnosis. The essential in vivo function of lectins is to combine glycoconjugates. The function of lectins in microorganisms and in animals is partially known, whereas the function of lectins in plants is mostly unclear. Of special interest, now as before, are the toxic lectins of the ricin type consisting of an A-chain (N-glycosidase) and a B-chain (D-galactose-specific lectin).  相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine the fate of the organothiophosphorus pesticide methidathion during anaerobic digestion of biological waste. Three reactor experiments were conducted under various conditions of temperature, pH and retention time. The influence of pH and temperature as well as the partitioning between solid and aqueous phase were studied in batch experiments. The mesophilic (25, 35 degrees C) reactor experiments showed a decline to about 10% of the maximum methidathion concentration within 30-80 d. In the thermophilic (55 degrees C) reactor experiment, methidathion disappeared within 20 d. The batch experiments showed an abiotic hydrolysis of methidathion over the experiment period of 4 d, accelerated by alkaline conditions (pH 10.5 and 12.8) and high temperatures (55 degrees C). The hydrolysis was also noticeable at a neutral pH, while methidathion was most stable at weakly acid pH values. Methidathion bonded strongly to the biological waste, and the amount released into the water phase was below the maximum aqueous solubility. About 10% of methidathion remained non-extractable. High concentrations of dissolved organic carbon and yeast extract as a model substance for disintegrated cells further reduced the content of methidathion in the water phase, possibly caused by co-sorption to the solid organic matter.  相似文献

The photocatalytic degradation of a sulfonylurea herbicide, cinosulfuron, has been studied in TiO2 aqueous suspensions. A first order kinetic law was found. The influence of the initial concentration of cinosulfuron and of the initial radiant flux on the kinetics were evaluated. The identification of the intermediate products was based on high performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry analyses (HPLC-MS). The mineralization of cinosulfuron was traced using ion chromatography and total organic carbon (TOC) measurements. These results indicate that the photocatalytic degradation of cinosulfuron leads to CO2, NO3 and SO4 2− as final products, and in addition cyanuric acid (C3H3O3N3), confirming previous results on triazinic ring-containing compounds. The 3 forest simulation model is a process model of tree growth, carbon and nitrogen dynamics in a single-species, even-aged forest stand. It is based on the model. Major changes include the computation of sun angle and radiation as a function of latitude and day of the year, the closed-form integration of canopy production as a function of day and hour, the introduction of tree number, height, and diameter as separate state variables, and different growth strategies, mortalities, and resulting self-thinning as function of crowding competition.The tree/soil system is described by a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations for the state variables: tree number, base diameter, tree height, wood biomass, nitrogen in wood, leaf mass, fine root mass, fruit biomass, assimilate, carbon and nitrogen in litter, carbon and nitrogen in soil organic matter, and plant-available nitrogen. The model includes explicit formulations of all relevant ecophysiological processes such as: computation of radiation as a function of seasonal time, daytime and cloudiness, light attenuation in the canopy, and canopy photosynthesis as function of latitude, seasonal time, and daytime, respiration of all parts, assimilate allocation, increment formation, nitrogen fixation, mineralization, humification and leaching, forest management (thinning, felling, litter removal, fertilization etc.), temperature effects on respiration and decomposition, and environmental effects (pollution damage to photosynthesis, leaves, and fine roots). Only ecophysiological parameters which can be either directly measured or estimated with reasonable certainty are used. 3 is a generic process model which requires species- and site-specific parametrization. It can be applied to deciduous and coniferous forests under tropical, as well as temperate or boreal conditions.The paper presents a full documentation of the mathematical model as well as representative simulation results for spruce and acacia.  相似文献

Soil microarthropods (Acari, Collembola) were analyzed along transects from shore to brown dune in two sandy coastal sites of the North Sea (Jutland, Denmark, and Spiekeroog, East Frisian island, Germany). Predatory mites (Acari: Gamasina) and Collembola were determined to species. The Jutland and the Spiekeroog sites each yielded 22 Gamasina species, 10 of which are common to both areas. Collembola were identified from the Spiekeroog samples only (also 22 species). Largest mite abundances were found in Jutland in primary dunes (419 tsd. ind./m2) and on Spiekeroog in old brown dunes (314 tsd.ind./m2). Compared to the mites, Collembola abundances are low, with maxima of 77 tsd.ind./m2 in Jutland (yellow dune) and only 18 tsd. ind./m2 on Spiekeroog (old vellow dune). The communities of predatory mites (Gamasina) and Collembola along transects from shore inland to brown dune are quite specific. High similarities are found for the predatory mites between the specific dune sites of the two North Sea areas, particularly for yellow dune. Additionally, preliminary data are presented for the southern Baltic Coast. The findigns are discussed in a broader context. Arguments focus on conservation and biogenic dune stabilization.  相似文献
