Nine fungal strains related to: Trametes versicolor, Nigrospora oryzae, Inonotus radiatus, Crumenulopsis sororia, Coryneum betulinum, Cryptosporiopsis radicicola, Fusarium equiseti, Rhodotorula glutinis and Candida parapsilosis were tested for their ability to degrade humulones and lupulones. The best results were obtained for T. versicolor culture, in which humulones and lupulones were fully degraded after 4days of incubation in the dark or after 36h in the light. In the present paper, implementation scenarios of a Pay-As-You-Throw program were developed and analyzed for the first time in Greece. Firstly, the necessary steps for implementing a Pay-As-You-Throw program were determined. A database was developed for the needs of the full cost accounting method, where all financial and waste-production data were inserted, in order to calculate the unit price of charging for four different implementation scenarios of the "polluter-pays" principle. Combustion characteristics of gas fuel in a pyrolysis-melting incinerator having a 30kg/h capacity were investigated. Pyrolyzed gas from waste was simulated by propane that was injected in the combustion chamber, and burnt through multi-staged combustion by distributing the combustion air to primary, secondary, and tertiary air nozzles. Temperatures and the concentrations of gas components in the combustion chamber were measured. Combustion performance was evaluated with respect to the temperature distribution and combustion gas concentrations of O(2), CO and NO(x). Using secondary air and/or tertiary air, the combustion performance was improved, and, in particular, NO(x) concentration decreased significantly following the tertiary air injection. 相似文献
This study explored the public perceptions of mobile telecommunications development – new landscape elements installed to deliver new technology – in a protected area. It examined: (1) the perceived landscape impacts of such development; (2) the importance attached to the socio-economic value of mobile telecommunications; and (3) the factors underlying the perceived landscape impacts of mobile telecommunications development. A postal questionnaire survey was conducted in the Peak District National Park, England with 420 respondents drawn from National Park residents and visitors, urban dwellers and members of environmental organisations. The study suggests that: (1) there was a prevailing antipathy towards the landscape impacts of mobile telecommunications development in the National Park; (2) apart from emergency uses, the other socio-economic benefits of mobile telecommunications technology were thought to be relatively unimportant in the National Park; and (3) rather than socio-demographic characteristics, it was respondents' understandings of protected areas' needs for the technology and potential health risks that had significant effects on the perceived landscape impacts. Overall, this study suggests that the significance of National Park landscapes is respected by the public, even when setalongside the convenience of modern technology, which has substantial implications for landscape planning and management in protected areas. 相似文献
Short-term (24h) experiments were performed to examine the effect of anthraquinone (ANTQ) and phenanthrenequinone (PHEQ) on two Scenedesmus armatus strains (B1-76 and 276-4d) grown in a batch culture system aerated with CO2 at a low (0.1%) or elevated (2%) concentration. ANTQ at concentrations within the range of 0.156-1.250 mg dm-3 inhibited the growth of B1-76 population in a concentration-dependent manner, and calculated EC50 for low-CO2 cells was 0.56 mg dm-3. The toxic effect of ANTQ on this strain was more pronounced in high-CO2 cells, where not only growth but also photosynthesis, respiration and SOD activity were significantly inhibited. In contrast, except for SOD activity, no ANTQ effects on strain 276-4d were found. PHEQ at concentrations within the range of 0.063-0.125 mg dm-3 inhibited the growth of B1-76 population in a concentration-dependent manner. The value of EC50 for low-CO2 B1-76 cells was 0.10 mg dm-3. PHEQ inhibited the growth of both strains regardless of CO2 concentration. In B1-76 cells affected by PHEQ, inhibition of photosynthesis was independent of the CO2 level, whereas the SOD activity was much higher in cultures aerated with 2% than with 0.1% CO2. Higher toxicity of PHEQ to strain 276-4d grown at 2% CO2 was accompanied by strong inhibition of photosynthesis, while in low-CO2 cells this process was slightly stimulated. The SOD activity in both low- and high-CO2 cells of strain 276-4d treated with PHEQ was 2-3 times higher compared with the controls. The pattern of SOD isoforms (PAGE analysis) obtained from cells exposed to ANTQ or PHEQ did not change compared with the controls, but the location of the SOD isoforms bands on gel was affected by the concentration of CO2. The results suggest that the strain-specific toxicity of ANTQ and PHEQ may result from oxidative stress. In all tanning technology operations wastes are generated. These reach the environment as residual waters, solid and liquid waste as well as atmospheric emissions and odours.
This study tests an alternative method to the traditional tanning method at an industrial level. The new method is based on tanning without float and by significantly increasing the temperature at the end of the tanning process. The properties of the leathers obtained using the two methods have been compared and the results indicate that those leathers have similar physical, chemical, and organoleptic properties. However, the differences existing from the environmental point of view are significant. It is not necessary to use clean water for this tanning. Moreover, there is a 75% reduction of the residual float, a 91% reduction of the chrome discharged, and a 94% reduction of the chlorides discharged. A financial assessment was carried out to demonstrate that the newly proposed system is 32% more economic than the traditional one. 相似文献
The chemical degradation of the herbicide azimsulfuron was investigated in aqueous solutions at different pH values. The hydrolysis rate, determined by HPLC analyses, was pH dependent and was much faster in acidic than in neutral or weakly basic conditions. The metabolites formed at different pH values were compared with standards when possible or isolated and identified using ESI-LC-MS/MS, (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR. The two main products of hydrolysis in mild acidic solution were identified as 2-amino-4,6-dimethoxy-pyrimidine and 2-methyl-4-(2-methyl-2H-tetrazol-5-yl)-2H-pyrazole-3-sulfonamide, both produced as a result of the sulfonylurea bridge cleavage. Under basic conditions, a new product, a substituted 2-pyrimidinamine, deriving from the contraction of the sulfonylurea bridge, was isolated and completely characterized for the first time. 相似文献
The main objective of this study is to quantify the potential overpressures due to Vapor Cloud Explosions (VCEs) and the potential gas buildup by using Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for onshore or offshore facilities.A series of CFD simulations and analyses have been performed for the various vapor dispersion scenarios, covering different release rates and release locations. The overpressure that could result from the potential VCE is assessed by CFD simulation for the largest explosive transient gas cloud. The results from the analyses also comprise an extensive picture of probable leak scenarios having the potential to make an explosive gas cloud.The CFD analysis results could be applied to provide input for detailed risk-based design and risk analysis, to find safe and cost-optimal design against explosions. 相似文献
