By interpreting disasters as opportunities to initiate the fulfilment of development needs, realise the vulnerability of the affected community and environment, and extend the legacy of relief funds and effort, this paper builds upon the concept linking relief, rehabilitation and development (LRRD) in the sanitation sector. It aims to use a composite of case studies to devise a framework for a semi‐hypothetical scenario to identify critical components and generic processes for a LRRD action plan. The scenario is based on a latrine wetland sanitation system in a Muslim community. Several sub‐frameworks are developed: (i) latrine design; (ii) assessment of human waste treatment; (iii) connective sanitation promotion strategy; and (iv) ecological systems and environmental services for sanitation and development. This scenario illustrates the complex issues involved in LRRD in sanitation work and provides technical notes and references for a legacy plan for disaster relief and development.  相似文献

Dynamic banding (RBG-GBG) using pulse 5-bromodeoxyuridine (5-BrdU) incorporation during part of the last S-phase before harvesting has been used in prenatal investigations. This method has already been routinely applied in 1344 cytogenetic investigations. GBG and RBG bandings produced almost identical patterns to classical G- and R-banding methods except for heterochromatic portions and some euchromatic segments. Nevertheless, these discordances may be somewhat helpful for cytogenetic diagnosis (i.e., X numerical abnormalities). The results showed particularly good contrast and staining; 5-BrdU incorporation did not prevent additional staining. Likewise, previous RBG or GBG disclosure allowed further chromosomal identification with C-banding or nucleolar organizer staining. Simplicity and reproducibility were very helpful in cases with a low mitotic index. 5-BrdU had no significant effect on in-vitro damage because only 0.31 per cent of cells were affected; so, we believe that dynamic banding should be used more extensively in cytogenetic investigations. Moreover, the staining and contrast qualities were very suitable for automatic methods of analysis now in use: i.e., metaphase finding and computer-assisted karyogram creation.  相似文献

Many physical, chemical, and biotic stresses always threaten plants during their growth and development. Using the genome editing technique is a good strategy to improve plant characteristics. CRISPR/Cas (clustered regulatory interspaced short palindromic repeats / CRISPR-associated protein), the adaptive and heritable immune system of prokaryotes, is a genome editing technique newly developed during recent years. At present, the type II CRISPR / Cas9 system is most widely used. Many plants, such as Arabidopsis thaliana, tobacco, soybean, tomato, potato, rice, wheat, maize, sorghum, petunia, banana, sweet orange, apple, poplar, and Marchantia polymorpha, have been edited successfully for stress tolerance, delay of fruit ripening, herbicide resistance, and disease resistance, etc. This system is achieved by the formation of nuclease Cas9 and crRNA: tracrRNA (CRISPR-derived RNA:trans-activating RNA) complex.
