The effect of multiple injection-moulding reprocessing of three biodegradable matrices on their mechanical properties, melt flow rate, molecular weight, phase transition temperatures and degradation temperature is presented. It has been found that, with successive reprocessing, tensile, flexural and impact strength decreased. Drop in mechanical properties has been assigned to degradation of the matrices, as corroborated by melt flow and molecular weight analysis. Although reprocessing did not significantly affect the glass transition, it diminished the melting point and degradation temperature of polymers. Results indicate that neat PLLA can be recycled for up to five times without suffering a drastic loss in mechanical and thermal properties. The aliphatic polyester Mater-Bi TF01U/095R can be recycled for up to 10 times, whilst starch-based Mater-Bi YI014U/C wastes should be destined to composting, since its recyclability is very poor. The effect of reprocessing on composites reinforced with chemithermomechanical pulp (CTMP) followed the tendencies observed for the neat matrices. Whilst CTMP-fibres behave mainly as filler in PLLA composites, reinforced thermoplastic starch-based composites presented enhanced mechanical properties and recyclability.  相似文献

The ultrastructure and pigment content of algal chloroplasts (derived from Bacillariophyceae or Chrysophyceae) are described from 3 benthic species of brackish-water foraminiferans.Elphidium williamsoni Haynes contains 4×106 chloroplasts mg-1, whereas the contents ofNonion germanicum (Ehrenberg) andE. excavatum (Terquem) are about 10% of this value. The two former contain chlorophyllsa andc and fucoxanthin, but these pigments were not detectable in the latter.E. williamsoni andN. germanicum had a net uptake of14C–HCO 3 - , proportional to their content of chlorophyll and number of chloroplasts, increasing linearly up to approximately 10 Klux. At light saturation the former assimilates 2.3x10-3 mg C mg-1 h-1 and the latter only about 20% of this value. Dark uptake was insignificant in all cases. Uptake could not be demonstrated inE. excavatum. The photosynthesis effected by these species is trivial in terms of the total benthic carbon fixation effected by the microflora. The chloroplasts survived longer in forminiferans kept in the dark than in light/dark adapted individuals. To keep a steady state population of chloroplasts under light/dark conditions,E. williamsoni must eat at least 65 chloroplasts individual-1 h-1, whereas the minimum consuption rate inN. germanicum is 20.  相似文献

Population dynamics of a benthic harpacticoid copepod (Tisbe cucumariae) were studied in a seawater-system holding tank during fall-spring, 1979/1980, and January, 1981. These populations were opoortunistic scavengers, especially on the dead bodies of Ciona intestinalis, a solitary tunicate. Copepod population densities, life-history stage structures, sex ratio and percentages of females with egg sacs were determined in the absence or in the presence of dead tunicates (from death through dissolution to final disappearance). Taken together, all the data are consistent with a hypothesis for food-dependent cycling of populations of T. cucumariae through the following 4 density states: (1) a maintenance state of low density, which is the usual condition during the absence of a concentrated food source; (2) a colonization state of moderate density, which results from attraction and immigration to a new food source; (3) a bloom state at the food source, where a high density results from intensive reproduction combined with a tendency of all life stages to remain at the site; (4) a dispersal state of moderate density as the copepods emigrate from the site of the consumed food. Evidence is also presented for a facultative slowing of naupliar development in T. cucumariae in the absence of a concentrated food source such as a dead tunicate. Possible advantages afforded by delayed development are discussed in terms of risk-spreading in a stochastically hostile environment.  相似文献

Estrogens are a class of micro-pollutants found in water at low concentrations (in the ng L−1 range), but often sufficient to exert estrogenic effects due to their high estrogenic potency. Disinfection of waters containing estrogens through oxidative processes has been shown to lead to the formation of disinfection byproducts, which may also be estrogenic. The present work investigates the formation of disinfection byproducts of 17β-estradiol (E2) and estrone (E1) in the treatment of water with ozone. Experiments have been carried out at two different concentrations of the estrogens in ground water (100 ng L−1 and 100 μg L−1) and at varying ozone dosages (0-30 mg L−1). Detection of the estrogens and their disinfection byproducts in the water samples has been performed by means of ultra performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) with a triple quadrupole (QqQ) and a quadrupole-time of flight (QqTOF) instrument. Both E2 and E1 have been found to form two main byproducts, with molecular mass (MM) 288 and 278 in the case of E2, and 286 and 276 in the case of E1, following presumably the same reaction pathways. The E2 byproduct with MM 288 has been identified as 10epsilon-17beta-dihydroxy-1,4-estradieno-3-one (DEO), in agreement with previously published results. The molecular structures and the formation pathways of the other three newly identified byproducts have been suggested. These byproducts have been found to be formed at both high and low concentrations of the estrogens and to be persistent even after application of high ozone dosages.  相似文献

The transport of chromium by the emulsion pertraction technology (EPERT) using Hostarex A327 (tertiary amine) as a carrier has been investigated. The permeation of the metal is studied as a function of various experimental variables: hydrodynamic conditions, concentration of Cr(VI) and HCl in the source phase, carrier concentration and diluent in the organic phase, strippant concentration in the stripping phase and support characteristics of the membrane. The mass transfer coefficient and the thickness of the aqueous source boundary layer were estimated from the experimental data. Furthermore, the selectivity of the Hostarex A327-bases EPERT towards different metal ions and the behaviour of the system against other carriers are presented.  相似文献

We study the horizontal surface mixing and the transport induced by waves in a coastal environment. A comparative study is addressed by computing the Lagrangian coherent structures, via Finite Size Lyapunov Exponents, that arise in two different numerical settings: with and without wave coupled to currents. In general, we observe that mixing is increased in the area due to waves. Besides, the methodology presented here is tested by deploying a set of eight Lagrangian drifters at different locations. This dynamical approach is shown as a valuable tool to extract information about transport, mixing and residence embedded in the Eulerian time dependent velocity fields obtained from numerical models.  相似文献

The influx of a large number of women into the workforce involves the need for these women to combine family and work responsibilities. Multiple roles lead to work–family conflict. This study analyzes the influence of work–family conflict on the causes of minor occupational accidents suffered by working women. A survey was done on working women in the Madrid region, who had suffered a minor occupational accident in 2004. The main finding was that nearly half of the women with children considered that the stress and fatigue caused by trying to combine work and family played a part in the accident; 21% of the respondents whose accidents took place while traveling to or from work and 11% the respondents who suffered the accident in the workplace said that family reasons played a part. Additionally, 50% of the women suffered after-effects as a result of the accident; children had to change their routine in almost 1 in 4 cases; nearly a quarter of the respondents said their work situation had been temporarily modified. This point to a need for polices that encourage men and employers to contribute more to solve work–family conflicts.  相似文献
