Top layer sediment samples from the Czech Republic were analyzed to obtain the preliminary information about contamination of the region by chlorinated paraffins. Sediment samples from three locations with different industrial discharges were taken over the period of 2 years. The analysis was performed by short-column gas chromatography-electron capture negative ion mass spectrometry (SCGC/ECNI-MS). Short chain chlorinated paraffin sediment concentrations varied between 24.00 and 45.78 ng g(-1) (dry weight, d.w.) in the Kosetice area, 16.30-180.75 ng g(-1) (dry weight) in the Zlín area and 4.58-21.57 ng g(-1) dry weight in the Beroun area. Highly chlorinated undecanes prevailed in the samples. On the basis of these results, more detailed studies should be conducted to determine the magnitude and extent of chlorinated paraffin contamination in these regions.  相似文献

A 96-h LC(50) values of 2,4-D [(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid], a common contaminating agricultural herbicide, were determined on the adult common carp (Cyprinus carpio L., 1758; Pisces, Cyprinidae). The study was conducted in two stages using 130 carp. The data obtained were statistically evaluated by the use of the EPA computer program based on Finney's Probit Analysis Method and a 96-h LC(50) value for C. carpio L., 1758 was found to be 63.24 mg/l in a static bioassay test system. 95% lower and upper confidence limits for the LC(50) were 55.03 and 71.92 mg/l, respectively. Water temperature was 17+/-1 degrees C. Behavioral changes of the above mentioned species were examined for various herbicide concentrations.  相似文献

Aluminum concentrations in the fruit samples taken from different regions were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry after dry ashing digestion. To identify the aluminum phases being most responsible for fruit-available aluminum, the soil samples near the fruit plants were also analyzed for aluminum by using various digestion and selective extraction reagents. The relation between the aluminum concentrations in fruits and in soil extracts was studied. The obtained aluminum concentrations in the fruits were in the range of 1.5 to 42.0 mg kg-1 on dry weight basis. It was observed that the aluminum concentrations of morello cherry(R2 = 0.79) and mulberry (R2 = 0.99) were correlated to the aluminum concentrations in citric acid extracts of the soils. While the aluminum concentrations of the EDTA and acetic acid extracts in some soils samples include 35% and 25% of total aluminum, respectively, the other soils contain only 1–2%.  相似文献

In this study, a methodology is proposed towards development of an uncertainty model that includes randomness in the occurrence of days-lost accidents in a coal mine. The accident/injury data consists of 1390 days-lost accident cases recorded at GLI-Tuncbilek underground lignite mine from January 1994 to December 2002. In the first step of proposed methodology, the frequency and the severity of the accidents have been modeled statistically by fitting appropriate distributions. The test done by BestFit software yields a chi-square value of 21.53 (p = 0.089) with 14 degrees of freedom and estimates the parameter of lambda for Poisson distribution as 12.87 accidents/month. For the severity component, a lognormal distribution is fitted to days-lost data and chi-square goodness-of-fit test calculates a value of 40.44 (p = 0.097) with 30 degrees of freedom. The parameters of lognormal distribution are estimated as a mean of 14.3 days and standard deviation of 23.1 days, respectively. Then, two distributions are basically combined by Monte Carlo simulation in order to construct relative risk levels in yearly base referring to the final cumulative distribution. Finally, a simple forecasting modeling is carried out in order to quantitatively predict the expected risk levels by using decomposition technique in time series analysis. Stochastic model estimates that although, there would be substantial reduction in the expected number of accidents in the near future, the higher level of risks still should be a concern for the mine management.  相似文献

This study was performed to determine the concentrations of some trace metals (Cd, Cu, Pb, Ni, Zn, and Fe) in Holothuria tubuosa (Gmelin, 1788) belonging to Echinoderm species and in sediments that they live at three different stations (Gelibolu, Umur Bey/Lapseki, and Dardanos) on Dardanelles Strait between April 2013 and March 2014. The mean trace metal concentrations determined in H. tubulosa and sediment were as follows: Cd 0.18 mg/kg, Cu 2.43 mg/kg, Pb 2.09 mg/kg, Ni 14.58 mg/kg, Zn 16.86 mg/kg, and Fe 73.46 mg/kg and Cd 0.70 mg/kg, Cu 5.03 mg/kg, Pb 14.57 mg/kg, Ni 27.15 mg/kg, Zn 54.52 mg/kg, and Fe 3779.9 mg/kg, respectively. It was detected that the statistical difference between trace metals determined seasonally in muscle tissue of H. tubulosa was significant (p?>?0.05). As a result of the study, it was detected that H. tubulosa is a bioindicator species in determining Ni trace metal in sediment. The results were compared to the limit values of National and International Food Safety, and it was detected that Cd and Ni concentrations measured in sediment were above LEL of Ni and Cd concentrations according to Sediment Quality Guidelines.  相似文献

The degradation of 230 mL of a 0.6-mM sulfanilamide solution in 0.05 M Na2SO4 of pH 3.0 has been studied by electro-Fenton process. The electrolytic cell contained either a Pt or boron-doped diamond (BDD) anode and a carbon-felt cathode. Under these conditions, organics are oxidized by hydroxyl radicals formed at the anode surface from water oxidation and in the bulk from Fenton’s reaction between initially added (and then electrochemically regenerated) Fe2+ and cathodically generated H2O2. From the decay of sulfanilamide concentration determined by reversed-phase liquid chromatography, an optimum Fe2+ concentration of 0.20 mM in both cells was found. The drug disappeared more rapidly using BDD than Pt, and, in both cases, it was more quickly removed with raising applied current. Almost total mineralization was achieved using the BDD/carbon-felt cell, whereas the alternative use of Pt anode led to a slightly lower mineralization degree. In both cells, the degradation rate was accelerated at higher current but with the concomitant fall of mineralization current efficiency due to the greater increase in rate of the parasitic reactions of hydroxyl radicals. Reversed-phase liquid chromatography allowed the identification of catechol, resorcinol, hydroquinone, p-benzoquinone, and 1,2,4-trihydroxybenzene as aromatic intermediates, whereas ion exclusion chromatography revealed the formation of malic, maleic, fumaric, acetic, oxalic, formic, and oxamic acids. NH4 +, NO3 ?, and SO4 2? ions were released during the electro-Fenton process. A plausible reaction sequence for sulfanilamide mineralization involving all detected intermediates has been proposed. The toxicity of the solution was assessed from the Vibrio fischeri bacteria luminescence inhibition. Although it acquired its maximum value at short electrolysis time, the solution was completely detoxified at the end of the electro-Fenton treatment, regardless of the anode used.  相似文献

Sucralose, a chlorinated carbohydrate, has shown its increased use as an artificial sweetener and persistently exists in wastewater treatment plant effluents and aquatic environment. This paper aims to review possible degradation of sucralose and related carbohydrates by biological, electrochemical, chemical, and advanced oxidation processes. Biodegradation of sucralose in waterworks did not occur significantly. Electrochemical oxidation of carbohydrates may be applied to seek degradation of sucralose. The kinetics of the oxidation of sucralose and the related carbohydrates by different oxidative species is compared. Free chlorine, ozone, and ferrate did not show any potential to degrade sucralose in water. Advanced oxidation processes, generating highly strong oxidizing agent hydroxyl radicals (?OH), have demonstrated effectiveness in transforming sucralose in water. The mechanism of oxidation of sucralose by ?OH is briefly discussed.  相似文献

A gas chromatography–mass spectrometry method has been proposed for the determination of low-level mutagenic and carcinogenic nitrosamines in particulate matter. The method includes the collection of particulate matters (PM2.5 and PM10) using a dichotomous Partisol 2025 sampler and extraction of the compounds from aqueous solution with dichloromethane/2-propanol after sonication with a slightly basic water solution prior to their GC-MS analysis in electron impact mode. The obtained recoveries of nitrosamines ranged from 92.4 to 99.2 %, and the precision of this method, as indicated by the relative standard deviations, was within the range of 0.95–2.46?%. The detection limits obtained from calculations using the GC-MS results based on S/N?=?3 were found within the range from 4 to 22 pg/m3. The predominant nitrosamines determined in particulate matter were N-nitrosodimethylamine, N-nitrosodiethylamine, N-nitrosodibutylamine and N-nitrosomorpholine. Furthermore, N-mono- and dinitrosopiperazine and N-nitrosoethylbutylamine were also determined. N-dinitrosopiperazine was detected in PM2.5 samples at the highest concentrations of up to 22.85 ng/m3 and in PM2.5–10 samples at concentrations up to 7.60 ng/m3 in winter, whereas it was found in PM2.5 samples up to 5.15 ng/m3 and in PM2.5–10 samples up to 3.12 ng/m3 in summer. The total concentrations of nitrosamines were up to 161.4 ng/m3 in fine and 53.90 ng/m3 in coarse fractions in winter, whereas in summer were up to 35.24 and 12.60 ng/m3, respectively. The concentration levels of nitrosamines fluctuated significantly within a year, with higher means and peak concentrations in the winter compared to that in the summertime. The seasonal variations of particle-associated nitrosamine concentrations were investigated together with their relationships with meteorological parameters using Pearson’s correlation analysis in the winter and summer periods. Analysis of variance was used to determine which concentrations of nitrosamines were statistically different from one another and, together with meteorological parameters and discriminant analysis, was used to classify the particle samples by particle size according to seasons. The classification results of the particle samples in different seasons were very satisfactory, allowing 99.5 % of cases to be correctly grouped.  相似文献

A comparative study of the degradation of Acid Orange 7 (AO 7) aqueous solutions in acidic medium of pH 3.0 by electro-Fenton process using Pt or boron-doped diamond (BDD) anode was reported. The oxidative degradation of AO 7 by electrochemically generated hydroxyl radicals follows a pseudo-first order kinetic with a similar rate constant with BDD or Pt anode. The absolute rate constant of the AO 7 hydroxylation reaction was determined as (1.10+/-0.04)x10(10)M(-1)s(-1) by using the competition kinetic method. The comparative study of TOC measurements during electro-Fenton treatment showed a higher mineralization rate with BDD than Pt anode at the first hours of electrolysis because of the higher oxidizing power of this anode. The electro-Fenton degradation of AO 7 was followed by monitoring the formation and evolution of aromatic intermediates which are oxidized to aliphatic carboxylic acids before mineralization (transformation to CO(2) and inorganic ions, i.e. sulphate, nitrate and ammonium). The follow-up of the solution toxicity evolution shows the formation of intermediates more toxic than AO 7 and the connection between toxicity and aromaticity. A mineralization reaction pathway of AO 7 by electro-Fenton degradation involving all the intermediates identified was proposed.  相似文献

The operation of modern horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) includes a number of important factors, such as wind power (P), power coefficient (CP), axial flow induction factor (a), rotational speed (Ω), tip speed ratio (λ), and thrust force (T). The aerodynamic qualities of these aspects are evaluated and discussed in this study. For this aim, the measured data are obtained from the Sebenoba Wind Energy Power Plant (WEPP) that is located in the Sebenoba region in Hatay, Turkey, and a wind turbine with a capacity of 2 MW is selected for evaluation. According to the results obtained, the maximum turbine power output, maximum power coefficient, maximum axial flow induction factor, maximum thrust force, optimum rotational speed, probability density of optimum rotational speed, and optimum tip speed ratio are found to be 2 MW, 30%, 0.091, 140 kN, 16.11 rpm, 46.76%, and 7, respectively. This study has revealed that wind turbines must work under optimum conditions in order to extract as much energy as possible for approaching the ideal limit.  相似文献
