In this study, Kenger gum obtained from Kenger plant (Gundelia tournefortii) was used in the production of biodegradable and edible chewing gum. Kenger gum was able to be softened by thermal process to improve its textural properties. 80% methanolic extract of gum showed 195.6 gallic acid equivalents (GAE) mg/100 g gum antioxidant activity and 17.9 mm inhibition zone for Escherichia coli O157:H7 as an antimicrobial activity. Softened Kenger gum was also characterized by texture properties, scanning electron microscope (SEM) images and chemical compositions. Hardness value of gum decreased from 864 to 238 g which was comparable to commercial chewing gums. Softened Kenger gum was observed to be a perfect substitute for a synthetic gum base in the production of a conventional chewing gum. Moreover, resilience value was remarkably found to be the best standard parameter to select chewing gums with desired textural properties. 相似文献

Introduction
China has the world's largest population, and is the second largest automobile market. China's economy is booming, resulting in a rapid increase in both the road infrastructure and access to private vehicles. Along with economic growth, the ownership of motorized vehicles has almost quadrupled in the past 10 years, from 42.2 million in 1997 to 159.7 million in 2007. However, at the same time, China also has a very high number of road fatalities compared to other countries, with about 100,000 reported fatalities each year.Method
This study analyzes the Chinese road-fatality situation to identify areas in which the total harm caused by crashes can be substantially and readily reduced. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the current road-fatality situation in China using conventional indices and the likely future trends. Results
Four areas were identified in which countermeasures have the most potential to substantially reduce fatalities in China: pedestrians and other non-motorists, nighttime driving, vehicle passengers, and motorcycles. Conclusion
While China faces unprecedented road safety issues, this report identifies major areas in which there are opportunities to greatly reduce total harm. 相似文献33.

Golden Horn is an estuary in Istanbul. It has connection with Marmara Sea directly and with Black Sea via Bosphorus, and was polluted by different kinds of industrial plants up to 1999. In addition to this, municipal wastewater of around one million people has been discharged to here. Greater part of the estuary was almost blocked off by sediment islands. Extensive effort was spent to dredge sediment in 1999. This created quite a convenient condition for aquatic medium in the estuary. In this research, the variations of chemical compositions of sediment bed were investigated to get clue about ecological conditions of the estuary. For that purpose, sediment samples were taken from 6 stations along the estuary in 2001, 2003 and 2004. The sediment samples were analyzed for inorganic and organic constituents. Meanwhile, water samples (from the surface and just above benthic mass) were also taken from the same 6 places and they were analyzed to verify the data from sediment samples. By this way, correlations between sediment mass and water body were determined. 相似文献
