Spatial patterns of various criteria air pollutants,like SO2, NO2, O3, and TSP were studied atShahdara National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring stationin Delhi (India) in July 1999. The minimum pollutantconcentrations were observed during morning hours,whereas the highest concentrations were found during thelate night hours, which seem to be related with thevehicular emission. Pre-monsoon daily ambient airquality spatial pattern was compared with the spatialpattern during initial and subsequent rain shower ofmonsoon. These spatial patterns were found to beessentially the same before and during rain, however asignificant decrease in SO2, NO2 and TSPconcentrations (40-45%) was observed after initial andsubsequent rains of the monsoon, demonstrating theimportance of rainfall in the scavenging of thesecriteria air pollutants. 相似文献

Landfilling is one of the most common ways of municipal solid waste disposal. Degradation of organic waste produces CH(4) and other landfill gases that significantly contribute to global warming. However, before entering the atmosphere, part of the produced CH(4) can be oxidised while passing through the landfill cover. In the present study, the oxidation rate of CH(4) was studied with various types of compost as possible landfill cover. The influence of incubation time, moisture content and temperature on the CH(4) oxidation capacity of different types of compost was examined. It was observed that the influence of moisture content and temperature on methane oxidation is time-dependent. Maximum oxidation rates were observed at moisture contents ranging from 45% to 110% (dry weight basis), while the optimum temperature ranged from 15 to 30 degrees C. 相似文献

The study explains water quality of three important tributaries of the Ganga River in the middle Gangetic plains in India. Seasonal changes in the water quality of the studied rivers: Gandak, Ghaghra, and Sone were observed. During monsoon, several water quality parameters show considerable changes due to increased runoff from the catchments and other seasonal factors. Multivariate discriminant analysis delineated a few parameters responsible for temporal variation in water quality. Seasonal variation in water quality of the Gandak River was rendered by seven parameters??turbidity, sulfate, pH, phosphate, water temperature, total alkalinity, and sodium, while total alkalinity and water temperature were responsible for seasonal discrimination in water quality of Ghaghra River. Water temperature, turbidity, total dissolved solids, total suspended solids, calcium, and phosphate were important for seasonal discrimination in water quality of Sone River. The seasonal changes in water quality of the rivers were due to seasonal effects and catchment characteristics. The discriminant functions classified most of the cases correctly. 相似文献

The objective of the present study was to synthesize and evaluate the effect of change in concentration of chitosan (CS) and N,N-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA)- a cross linking agent, on various properties such as lower critical solution temperature (LCST), zeta potential, particle size and poly dispersity index (PDI) of the synthesized co-polymer. Nine different formulations of chitosan-g-poly (N-isopropylacrylamide) (CS-g-PNIPAAm) co-polymer with varying CS and MBA concentrations were synthesized by a surfactant free dispersion copolymerization method. The synthesized co-polymer was further characterized and confirmed for its structure, morphology, particle size, zeta-potential, thermo and pH responsive properties, in-vitro cyto-compatability and stability studies using various analytical tools. The data confirms the successful synthesis of co-polymer. The increase in the concentrations of CS and MBA during the polymerization of co-polymer, resulted in proportional increase of LCST and zeta potential with decrease in particle size of co-polymeric nanoparticles. pH responsive studies showed that as the pH of the medium increases particle size and zeta potential decreases with increase in LCST of co-polymeric nanoparticles. From the results, it can be inferred that the synthesized co-polymeric nanoparticles exerted thermo and pH responsive properties with biocompatibility. By varying the CS and MBA concentrations in the co-polymer, desired LCST, particle size and zeta potential for co-polymeric nanoparticles can be obtained and thus the synthesized co-polymer may have great potential to be used as a drug carrier (nanoform) with both thermo and pH responsiveness. 相似文献

The effect of fireworks on air quality was assessed from the ambient concentrations of various air pollutants (SO2, NO2, PM10 and TSP) during Diwali festival in Hisar city (India), in November 1999. The extensive use of fireworks was found to be related to short-term variation in air quality. During the festival the concentration of SO2 was observed to be increased approximately 10-fold at few sites, whereas the concentrations of NO2, PM10 and TSP increased 2-3 times, compared to the data collected on a typical winter day in December 1999. The maximum NO2 concentration was observed a day after the festival. The diurnal pattern of the above pollutants showed a slight increase in the night. The levels of these pollutants observed during Diwali were found to be moderately high, which can be associated with serious health impacts. 相似文献

Novel semi-interpenetrating network (semi-IPN) hydrogels based on biodegradable chitosan and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-2-acrylamido-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid) were prepared by free radical addition polymerization. Fourier transform infrared spectra and scanning electron microscopy were used to characterize the semi-IPN hydrogels and the results showed that chitosan and poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-2-acrylamide-2-methyl-1-propanesulfonic acid) semi-IPN hydrogels were coupled by the interaction of the functional groups present in NIPAAm, CS and AMPS units. The PNIPAAm and P(NIPAAm-AMPS)/CS hydrogels have lower critical solution temperature and the same was confirmed with the help of differential scanning calorimetry as well as with the temperature dependent swelling curves. The model anti cancer drug, 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) was loaded into the semi-IPN hydrogels, at ambient temperature. The 5-FU loading capacity and release behaviour were investigated with these hydrogels acting as carriers for controlled release. The released 5-FU concentration was calculated with the help of UV spectrophotometer at 266.5?nm. 相似文献
