Adsorption-desorption, persistence and leaching behavior of thifluzamide in alluvial soil 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Investigations were undertaken to study the adsorption-desorption, persistence and leaching of thifluzamide (2',6'-dibromo-2-methyl-4'-trifluoromethoxy-4-trifluoro methyl-1,3-thiazole-5-carboxanilide) in an alluvial soil under laboratory conditions. The adsorption-desorption studies were carried out using batch equilibration technique. The results revealed high but weak adsorption of thifluzamide in alluvial soil with K(F) value of 9.62 and 'n' value of 0.63. About 47-62% of the adsorbed amount got desorbed in four desorption cycles, which further substantiate the hypothesis of weak binding. The hysteresis coefficient varied from 0.19 to 0.40. Persistence studies carried out at three concentration levels (0.1, 1.0 and 10.0 microgg(-1)) and under three moisture conditions (air-dry, field capacity moisture and submerged) revealed that thifluzamide is a persistent chemical and only 19.5-54.0% dissipation was recorded on 90th day. However, it appears that aerobic microbes are more efficient in degrading thifluzamide than anaerobic microbes. The preliminary leaching studies carried out in the laboratory revealed that thifluzamide was moderately mobile in alluvial soil. Changes in the soil labile carbon fractions and soil biochemical properties to elevated carbon dioxide (CO2) and temperature reflect the changes in the functional capacity of soil ecosystems. The belowground root system and root-derived carbon products are the key factors for the rhizospheric carbon dynamics under elevated CO2 condition. However, the relationship between interactive effects of elevated CO2 and temperature on belowground soil carbon accrual is not very clear. To address this issue, a field experiment was laid out to study the changes of carbon allocation in tropical rice soil (Aeric Endoaquept) under elevated CO2 and elevated CO2 + elevated temperature conditions in open top chambers (OTCs). There were significant increase of root biomass by 39 and 44 % under elevated CO2 and elevated CO2 + temperature compared to ambient condition, respectively. A significant increase (55 %) of total organic carbon in the root exudates under elevated CO2 + temperature was noticed. Carbon dioxide enrichment associated with elevated temperature significantly increased soil labile carbon, microbial biomass carbon, and activities of carbon-transforming enzyme like β-glucosidase. In a field study 78 water samples were analysed employingFluorocult Brilla Broth (BB) and its performance was comparedwith standard MPN procedure. Out of 78 water samples analysed 56(71.7%) samples yielded positive reactions in BB whereas, 50(64.1%) samples were positive by standard fecal coliform test.A comparative study of fluorogenic and chromogenic mediacontaining substrate -D glucuronide for specificdetection of environmental isolates of 313 thermotolerant E.coli has been undertaken. Five fluorogenic media wereused: Fluorocult MacConkey agar (MCA), Fluorocult ECD agar(ECD), Fluorocult VRB agar (VRB), Fluorocult E. coli0157:H7 agar (ECH7) and Fluorocult Brilla Broth (BB) andChromogenic Chromocult agar (CCA). BB and CCA were found to behighly specific and sensitive media to detect E. coli asall E. coli yielded positive reaction on them. On ECH7 andECD agar 67.5 and 64.9 of E. coli isolates gave positivereaction, respectively. Low sensitivity was observed in case ofMCA and VRB agar in detecting E. coli. Controlling the temperature of food packages during transport is needed with the rise of online shopping. During transport, food requires cold temperatures to maintain freshness. A major issue is the undesired warming of food when packages are exposed to warm temperatures on airport tarmacs and temporary unrefrigerated storage during air transportation. To solve this problem, phase change materials (PCMs) can maintain package temperature by changing their phase from liquid to solid or vice versa, to absorb or release latent heat. Although this technology is still not fully commercially viable yet, it has good potential. This article reviews all aspects of PCM packaging, including their classification, technical approaches, and commercial applications, with focus on the direct integration of PCM into food package systems. The article also provides guidelines for future research and reveals aspects that still hinder the full exploitation of PCM in the food packaging industry. To make PCM packaging commercially viable, research needs to consider aspects such as cost, consumer acceptance and confidence, regulatory aspects, e.g., labeling, and multifunctionality. 相似文献

Kolleru lake is the largest fresh water lake in the districts of East and West Godavari of Andhra Pradesh, India. Many anthropogenic sources contribute to the heavy metal pollution in the lake and the bioaccumulation of heavy metals in fish helps in assessing the aquatic pollution. Total contents and fractionation of selected heavy metals, viz., Zn, Cu, Cd, Pb, Cr, Ni and Co were measured in sediment sample and three edible fish. The investigation aimed at revealing differences in the accumulation pattern of heavy metals in fish inhabiting sediments characterized by varying metal bioavailability. The metal concentrations were found to be greater than the background concentrations of sediments indicating the anthropogenic origin of metals. Good recovery values were obtained for metal contents in sediments and fish. Large fractions of Zn, Cd and Cu were associated with mobile fraction of sediment and showed greater bioaccumulation in fish whereas Ni and Co were least mobilisable. The results clearly indicate that the fish of Kolleru lake are contaminated with metals and not advisable for human consumption. 相似文献
