Impact of metal cadmium on the nutritive value of Channa punctatus on exposure to a sublethal concentration (1.12 mg/l) of cadmium (Cd2+) for 15 and 60 days has been studied. Among the various parameters selected, the level of moisture in liver and muscle was increased, while decrease was noted in the level of ash, total proteins and inorganic constituents like iron, calcium, inorganic phosphate, sodium and potassium in both liver and muscle in the two types of exposure. The total lipid level of liver increased, while muscle lipid level was decreased. On the other hand, calcium, iron, inorganic phosphate, sodium and potassium levels showed increase in blood. Zinc and selenium decreased the percentage alterations in all the parameters selected for study. In the two types of exposure, zinc was most effective to counteract the cadmium toxicity to fish as in almost all the parameters insignificant alterations were recorded. In combination studies, protection against cadmium toxicity by the two chemicals became more marked with increase in the tenure of exposure. 相似文献

The changes induced by humification of anaerobically digested sewage sludge, source separated biowaste, and pulp mill biosludge were determined by extracting the fractions of bitumen and humic and fulvic acids from the samples of fresh and humified composts. In all cases, a distinct decrease in the amount of bitumen could be detected during humification. The amount of humic acids increased in sewage sludge and biowaste samples, but decreased in pulp mill biosludge sample during humification. The humic acids were degraded by CuO oxidation and the phenolic degradation products were analysed by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography. The yield of these aromatic degradation products was in the range 0.9–2.0 % for each sample. The main phenolic degradation products were 4-hydroxybenzoic acid, vanillic acid, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, vanillin, syringaldehyde, and acetovanillone. Two lignin dimers, dehydrodivanillin and dehydrodiacetovanillone, were also identified. 相似文献

Gas chromatographic analyses of mussels, Mytilus galloprovincialis, from different areas of the Lagoon of Venice show that these organisms contain a very complex mixture of hydrocarbons attributable to fuel oil contamination. The measured amounts normally range from 0.8 to 8.7 mg/100 g wet weight, but values as high as 22.0 mg/100 g have been recorded. This high value indicates a saturation limit for these organisms which is considerably higher than those values normally found in mussels from the lagoon. The aliphatic hydrocarbon levels in mussels are related to distance from pollution sources and to the degree of exchange between the sea and the area sampled. On the basis of this relationship between overall hydrocarbon pollution load and level of contamination of M. galloprovincialis, it appears that this bivalve might be effectively utilized as a self-integrating monitoring index of oil pollution in the wasters of the lagoon. 相似文献

This paper focusses on a conceptual overview of ways to address a comprehensive analysis of ecosystem services (ES) in a country as large and heterogeneous as Russia. As a first step, a methodology for assessing the services for the federal subjects of Russia was chosen, i.e., its constituent provinces and similar entities, in physical terms. Russia harbors a great diversity of natural conditions and ecosystems which are suppliers of ES, and likewise a variety of the socio-economic conditions that shape the demand for these services and their consumption. The methodological approach described permits several important tasks to be addressed: the evaluation of the degree of satisfaction of people’s needs for ES, the identification of ecological donor and acceptor regions, and zoning of the country’s territory for ES assessment. The next step is to prepare a prototype of a National Report on ES in Russia, for which we are presenting the planned structure. 相似文献

In this paper, a mechanical filtering system to treat pig slurry is proposed. The filter was made from the aerobic decomposition product of the organic fraction of municipal wastes and wheat straw was used as the support.Using a pilot plant to treat 2100 liters of swine slurry, an adequate reduction in BOD5; COD, and other parameters was obtained. The organic matter content of the material trapped in the filter was similar to that of compost and farmyard manure, but the nitrogen and phosphorous levels and the C/N ratio were more similar to farmyard manure. After passing through a filtering system, the treated liquid can be used for fertirrigation and as a feed for algae ponds. After a period of stabilization, the solid material can be mixed to produce manure. Although wheat straw was used as the support in this experiment, other agricultural wastes such as rice straw, corn stalks, millet stems, banana, cotton, and coconut trash can be used. Rather than municipal solid waste compost, other kinds of compost obtained from agricultural wastes such as leaves, bark, husks, etc., can be used as the filter. 相似文献

Efficiency conditions are derived for both private and public goods which provide benefits over time. In deriving these conditions, the paper extends the notion of efficiency to an intertemporal Pareto-optimal concept requiring the maximization of the ith individual's utility at a point of time subject to the constancy of his utility in all future periods and that of all other individuals during the relevant time span. By permitting births and deaths, a generalization of the basic model recasts the analysis into an intergenerational setting. Additional extensions involve learning by doing and perpetual public goods. The paper concludes that several of the conventional practices in public expenditure analysis do not conform to our definition of intertemporal Pareto efficiency. 相似文献

The tellinid bivalveMacomona liliana (Iredale) occurs at relatively low densities on a sandbank (Te Tau bank) in Manukau Harbour, New Zealand. Te Tau bank is dominated by polychaetes, including the tube-building spionidBoccardia syrtis (Rainer). JuvenileM. liliana are known to disperse as post-settlement juveniles by byssus-drifting. Laboratory experiments were conducted to assess whether the low abundance ofM. liliana on Te Tau bank was due to the presence ofB. syrtis, or to some reaction to the sediment itself. In particular, we, examined how juvenileM. liliana survived after exposure to Te Tau bank sediments with and without the spionid tube-mat for 1 mo in still-water conditions, and how they responded when given a choice of different sediment/tube-mat treatments in moving water. JuvenileM. liliana did not appear to have a strong aversion to settling and burrowing in sediments from Te Tau bank. Sediments without the tube-mat did not adversely affect the survivorship of the bivalves, but survival was significantly lower amongst theB. syrtis tube-mat. In the presence of a current, the juvenile bivalves settled in Te Tau bank sediments without a tube-mat, but avoided settling amongst liveB. syrtis. An artificial tube-mat enhanced settlement. Predicted increases in runoff of terrestrial dissolved organic matter (DOM) and sea surface temperatures implicate substantial changes in energy fluxes of coastal marine ecosystems. Despite marine bacteria being critical drivers of marine carbon cycling, knowledge of compositional responses within bacterioplankton communities to such disturbances is strongly limited. Using 16S rRNA gene pyrosequencing, we examined bacterioplankton population dynamics in Baltic Sea mesocosms with treatments combining terrestrial DOM enrichment and increased temperature. Among the 200 most abundant taxa, 62 % either increased or decreased in relative abundance under changed environmental conditions. For example, SAR11 and SAR86 populations proliferated in combined increased terrestrial DOM/temperature mesocosms, while the hgcI and CL500-29 clades (Actinobacteria) decreased in the same mesocosms. Bacteroidetes increased in both control mesocosms and in the combined increased terrestrial DOM/temperature mesocosms. These results indicate considerable and differential responses among distinct bacterial populations to combined climate change effects, emphasizing the potential of such effects to induce shifts in ecosystem function and carbon cycling in the future Baltic Sea. 相似文献
