The study was conducted on 20 vegetables including leafy, root, modified stem, and fruity vegetables like bitter gourd, jack fruit, french-bean, onion, colocassia, pointed gourd, capsicum, spinach, potato, fenugreek seeds, carrot, radish, cucumber, beetroot, brinjal, cauliflower, cabbage, tomato, okra, and bottle gourd. Forty-eight pesticides including 13 organochlorines (OCs), 17 organophosphates (OPs), 10 synthetic pyrethriods (SPs), and eight herbicides (H) pesticides were analyzed. A total number of 60 samples, each in triplicates, were analyzed using Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe method. The quantification was done by GC-ECD/NPD. The recovery varies from 70.22% to 96.32% with relative standard deviation (RSD) of 15%. However the limit of detection ranged from 0.001?C0.009 mg kg???1 for OCs, SPs, OPs, and H, respectively. Twenty-three pesticides were detected from total 48 analyzed pesticides in the samples with the range of 0.005?C12.35 mg kg???1. The detected pesticides were: ??-HCH, Dicofol, ??-Endosulfan, Fenpropathrin, Permethrin-II, ??-cyfluthrin-II, Fenvalerate-I, Dichlorvos, Dimethoate, Diazinon, Malathion, Chlorofenvinfos, Anilophos, and Dimethachlor. In some vegetables like radish, cucumber, cauliflower, cabbage, and okra, the detected pesticides (??-HCH, Permethrin-II, Dichlorvos, and Chlorofenvinfos) were above maximum residues limit (MRL) (PFA 1954). However, in other vegetables the level of pesticide residues was either below detection limit or MRL. 相似文献
This study reports on the biocultural dimensions of the tasat (Arenga obtusifolia Griff.) tree and its conservation by various informal institutions of the Adi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh, India. The study included 240 Adi community members (120 men and 120 women) residing in 12 villages of the East Siang and Upper Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh. The study was conducted using personal interviews and participatory methods. Results indicated that the stem of tasat is used as a traditional food during droughts and in preparing an ethnic beverage. Tasat is being conserved by the Adi tribe in various habitats. Plant populations of tasat were observed relatively higher in Upper Siang than the East Siang district. The study found differences in the status of biocultural knowledge between genders and different age groups. Kebang and reglep are two indigenous institutions of men and women, respectively, and play leading roles in sustaining tasat plants in various habitats. Women of the Upper Siang district still maintain a knowledge network for diffusing biocultural knowledge related to tasat, among others, through a barter system. Changing land use patterns in agriculture affects tasat conservation. The value addition for tasat based products, and rewarding women who conserve tasat, can enhance the sustainability of tasat based on biocultural knowledge and institutions. 相似文献
A heterogeneous catalyst comprising Keggin type polyoxometalate, silicotungstic acid (SiW12), and MCM-22 was synthesized using wet impregnation method and characterized by acidity measurement, BET, FT-IR, XRD, and SEM. Their catalytic activity was evaluated for the degradation of cationic organic dyes like methylene blue (MB), crystal violet (CV), and an azo dye Chryosidine Y (CY) in an aqueous solution. The experimental parameters such as catalyst amount, initial dye concentration, and contact time were studied for the degradation of dyes, and it was found that the cationic dyes like methylene blue and crystal violet show better activity as compared to azo dye Chryosidine Y. This may be attributed to better electrostatic interaction of these cationic dyes with the residual negative surface charge of the catalyst, due to presence of SiW12 ion as it is rich in surface oxygens and surface hydroxyl groups. The control experimental results showed that the presence of SiW12 at the surface of MCM-22 promoted the degradation reactions, and presence of multiple W–O bonds in polyoxometalate also played a key role in this reaction. The catalyst exhibits recycling ability without any significant loss in activity up to four cycles.

In the present study, depending upon the availability and cheaper cost, different carbon source were tested for the production of PHAs (Polyhydroxyalkonoates) by soil bacterium Pseudomonasaeruginosa and it was found that sugar refinery waste (cane molasses) produced the maximum PHA (biodegradable polymer) which is precursor for bio-plastic development. Urea served as potent nitrogen source over other inorganic nitrogen sources in bio-plastic synthesis. Effect of different physical parameters viz; pH, temperature and agitation speed were also studied on PHA production. Batch cultivation kinetics under optimized cultural and physical condition showed maximum cell mass and PHA concentration of 7.32?±?0.2 and 5.60?±?0.3?g/L, respectively after 54.0?h of cultivation. Sugar refinery waste (Total sugar 4%) and urea (0.8%) improved the economics of the process which exhibited a yield (YP/X) of 0.70 with productivity of 0.11?g/L/h. PHA was further characterized as PHB by using Fourier Transform Infra-red Spectroscopy (FT-IR). 相似文献
This paper highlights the utility of riverbed sand (RS) for the treatment of Ni(II) from aqueous solutions. For enhancement of removal efficiency, RS was modified by simple methods. Raw and modified sands were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) to investigate the effect of modifying the surface of RS. For optimization of various important process parameters, batch mode experiments were conducted by choosing specific parameters such as pH (4.0–8.0), adsorbent dose (1.0–2.0 g), and metal ion concentrations (5–15 mg/L). Removal efficiency decreased from 68.76 to 54.09 % by increasing the concentration of Ni(II) in solution from 5 to 15 mg/L. Removal was found to be highly dependent on pH of aqueous solutions and maximum removal was achieved at pH 8.0. The process of removal follows first-order kinetics, and the value of rate constant was found to be 0.048 min?1 at 5 mg/L and 25 °C. Value of intraparticle diffusion rate constant (kid) was found to be 0.021 mg/g min1/2 at 25 °C. Removal of Ni(II) decreased by increasing temperature which confirms exothermic nature of this system. For equilibrium studies, adsorption data was analyzed by Freundlich and Langmuir models. Thermodynamic studies for the present process were performed by determining the values of ΔG°, ΔH°, and ΔS°. Negative value of ?H° further confirms the exothermic nature of the removal process. The results of the present investigation indicate that modified riverbed sand (MRS) has high potential for the removal of Ni(II) from aqueous solutions, and resultant data can serve as baseline data for designing treatment plants at industrial scale. 相似文献
Leaves of Artemisia annua linn. and Azadirachta indica were extracted in petroleum ether and hexane respectively by different methods of extraction i.e. cold extraction, reflux extraction and soxhlet extraction. The crude extract obtained was tested against third instar larvae of Anopheles stephensi. On comparison of larval mortality of crude extract obtained by these three methods, both soxhlet and reflux extraction method showed 100% mortality at 200 ppm after 48 hr in case of A. annua. However LC50 (20 ppm) value of crude extract obtained by soxhlet extraction showed better results than reflux extraction (35 ppm) method after 72 hr. In case of A. indica, crude obtained by soxhlet showed 100% mortality (after 48 hr) at 250 ppm and LC50 of 69 ppm at 72 hr. Reflux extraction does not show any appreciable mortality even at 250 ppm concentration. 相似文献
This paper reports on radon concentrations in dwellings from fifty different locations of India. The incorporated data were obtained using the passive solid state nuclear track detector technique. The estimated geometric mean value for India is 67.1 Bq m(-3). Chuadanga in Bangladesh had the lowest observed indoor radon concentration of 27.3 Bq m(-3) and Una in the northern part of India had the highest concentration of 281.5 Bq m(-3). This paper discusses the national geometrical mean value in terms of the national geometric mean values of other countries and also in terms of the geological influence. The estimated indoor radon levels are compared with the indoor radon levels as recommended by the International Commission on Radiation Protection (ICRP). It was observed that there are several locations in India where dwellings have higher indoor radon levels than the ICRP recommended value and requires some sort of intervention from regulating authorities. The mean value for indoor radon level given in the report of UNSCEAR 2000 for India needs to be revised. 相似文献
