Sulfonamides (SAs) are one of the oldest groups of veterinary chemotherapeutic agents. As these compounds are not completely metabolized in animals, a high proportion of the native form is excreted in feces and urine. They are therefore released either directly to the environment in aquacultures and by grazing animals, or indirectly during the application of manure or slurry. Once released into the environment, SAs become distributed among various environmental compartments and may be transported to surface or ground waters. The physicochemical properties of SAs, dosage and nature of the matrix are the factors mainly responsible for their distribution in the natural environment. Although these rather polar compounds have been in use for over half a century, knowledge of their fate and behavior in soil ecosystems is still limited. Therefore, in this work we have determined the sorption potential of sulfadimethoxine and sulfaguanidine on various natural soils. The influence on sorption of external factors, such as ionic strength and pH, were also determined. The sorption coefficients (Kd) obtained for the sulfonamides investigated were quite low (from 0.20 to 381.17 mL g−1 for sulfadimethoxine and from 0.39 to 35.09 mL g−1 for sulfaguanidine), which indicated that these substances are highly mobile and have the potential to run off into surface waters and/or infiltrate ground water. Moreover, the sorption of these pharmaceuticals was found to be influenced by OC, soil solution pH and ionic strength, with higher Kd values for soils of higher OC and lower Kd values with increasing pH and ionic strength.  相似文献

Novel silica-enhanced lime sorbents were tested in a bench-scale sand-bed reactor for their potential for SO2 removal from flue gas. Reactor conditions were 64°C (147°F), relative humidity of 60 percent [corresponding to an approach to saturation temperature of 10°C (18°F)], and inlet SO2 concentration of 500 or 1000 ppm. The sorbents were prepared by pressure hydration of CaO or Ca(OH)2 with siliceous materials at 100°C (101 kPa) [212°F (14.7 psi)] to 230°C (2793 kPa) [446°F (405 psi)] for 15 min to 4 h. Pressure hydration fostered the formation of a sorbent reactive with SO2 from fly ash and Ca(OH)2 in a much shorter time than did atmospheric hydration. The conversion of Ca(OH)2 in the sand-bed reactor increased with the increasing weight ratio of fly ash to lime and correlated well with B.E.T. surface area, increasing with increasing surface area. The optimum temperature range for the pressure-hydration of fly ash with Ca(OH)2 was between 110 and 160°C (230 and 320 °F). The pressure hydration of diatomaceous earth with CaO did not offer significant reactivity advantages over atmospheric hydration; however, the rate of enhancement of Ca(OH)2 conversions was much faster with pressure hydration. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and x-ray diffraction studies showed solids of different morphology with different fly ash/lime ratios and changing conditions of pressure hydration.  相似文献

Sorption of ionic liquids onto soils: experimental and chemometric studies   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Chemometric analyses are a great tool to support typical experimental studies of the interactions of xenobiotics with natural environment. Such interpretations are able to determine statistically significant correlations and finally lead to identification of the major sorption factors. However, to effectively use chemometrics a bigger data set is required. Even though the ionic liquids are intensively studied, their complete fate or prediction of their behavior in the natural environment is still unclear. Therefore, to evaluate and distinguish the patterns of interactions of ILs in soil environment by chemometrics, sorption of nine ionic liquids (imidazolium and pyridinium chlorides) on 11 types of various soils was tested. Experimental studies indicated that compounds with longer alkyl side chains were sorbed far more strongly than weakly lipophilic ones. Moreover, salts with short and/or hydroxylated derivatives were more mobile in soils/sediments and thus, might cause a danger of contamination of surface or ground waters. Cluster analysis revealed that ionic liquids form two major clusters according to interaction with soil surface - one grouping compounds with short and hydroxylated alkyl side chains and the second with the rest of compounds. Pairwise scatterplots for correlations between soil variables and sorption coefficients indicated that the main soil parameter responsible for the sorption was cation exchange capacity. Correlation of sorption coefficients, K(d), with pH indicated the existence of lower sorption potency in lower pH values.  相似文献

This paper presents the performance analysis of a power plant with the Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC). The power plant is supplied by thermal energy utilized from a solar energy collector. R245fa was the working fluid in the thermodynamic cycle. The organic cycle with heat regeneration was built and tested experimentally. The ORC with a heat regenerator obtained the maximum thermodynamic efficiency of approximately 9%.  相似文献

A series of investigations were conducted using sequencing batch biofilm reactor(SBBR) to explore the influence of C:N:P ratio on biological dephosphatation including the denitrifying dephosphatation and the denitrification process.Biomass in the reactor occurred mainly in the form of a biofilm attached to completely submerged disks.Acetic acid was used as the source of organic carbon.C:N:P ratios have had a significant effect on the profiles of phosphate release and phosphate uptake and nitrogen removal.The highest rates of phosphate release and phosphate uptake were recorded at the C:N:P ratio of 140:70:7.The C:N ratio of 2.5:1 ensured complete denitrification.The highest rate of denitrification was achieved at the C:N:P ratio of 140:35:7.The increase of nitrogen load caused an increase in phosphates removal until a ratio C:N:P of 140:140:7.Bacteria of the biofilm exposed to alternate conditions of mixing and aeration exhibited enhanced intracellular accumulation of polyphosphates.Also,the structure of the biofilm encouraged anaerobic–aerobic as well as anoxic–anaerobic and absolutely anaerobic conditions in a SBBR.These heterogeneous conditions in the presence of nitrates may be a significant factor determining the promotion of denitrifying polyphosphate accumulating organism(DNPAO) development.  相似文献

A territorial male can shift the location of its territory from year to year in order to increase its quality. The male can base its decision on environmental cues or else on its breeding experiences (when territory shift is caused by breeding failure in previous seasons). We tested these possible mechanisms of territory choice in the sedge warbler (Acrocephalus schoenobaenus), a territorial migrating passerine that occupies wetlands. This species bases its territory choices on an environmental cue: tall wetland vegetation cover. We found that the magnitude of territory quality improvement between seasons (measured as the area of tall wetland vegetation) increased throughout the early stages of a male's breeding career as a result of territory shifts dependent on the earliness of arrival. The distance the territory was shifted between seasons depended negatively on the previous year's territory quality and, less clearly, on the previous year's mating success. On the other hand, previous mating or nesting success had no influence on territory quality improvement between seasons as measured in terms of vegetation. The results imply that tall wetland vegetation is a long-term, effective environmental cue and that a preference for territories in which this type of landcover prevails has evolved into a rigid behavioral mechanism, supplemented by short-term individual experiences of breeding failure.  相似文献

Mercury emission from coal-fired power stations, situated in Poland in the Silesian region was investigated. The determination methods for mercury in the consumed coal and in combustion gas, used in this research, are described. The mass of mercury emitted into the air from coal combustion in the power station is in constant relation to the mercury content in the consumed coal during the assumed period. A relationship between mercury emission into the air and the mercury content in the consumed coal in electric power stations is derived.  相似文献
