The objective of this study was to investigate the properties of poly(vinyl alcohol)/chitosan nanocomposite films reinforced with different concentration of amorphous LCNFs. The properties analyzed were morphological, physical, chemical, thermal, biological, and mechanical characteristics. Oil palm empty fruit bunch LCNFs obtained from multi-mechanical stages were more dominated by amorphous region than crystalline part. Varied film thickness, swelling degree, and transparency of PVA/chitosan nanocomposite films reinforced with amorphous part were produced. Aggregated LCNFs, which reinforced PVA/chitosan polymer blends, resulted in irregular, rough, and uneven external surfaces as well as protrusions. Based on XRD analysis, there were two or three imperative peaks that indicated the presence of crystalline states. The increase in LCNFs concentration above 0.5% to PVA/chitosan polymer blends led to the decrease in crystallinity index of the films. A noticeable alteration of FTIR spectra, which included wavenumber and intensity, was obviously observed along with the inclusion of amorphous LCNFs. That indicated that a good miscibility between amorphous LCNFs and PVA/chitosan polymer blend generated chemical interaction of those polymers during physical blending. Reinforcement of PVA/chitosan polymer blends with amorphous LCNFs influenced the changes of Tg (glass transition temperature), Tm (melting point temperature), and Tmax (maximum degradation temperature). Three thermal phases of PVA/chitosan/LCNFs nanocomposite films were also observed, including absorbed moisture evaporation, PVA and chitosan polymer backbone structural degradation and LCNFs pyrolysis, and by-products degradation of these polymers. The addition of LCNFs 0.5% had the highest tensile strength and the addition of LCNFs above 0.5% decreased the strength. The incorporation of OPEFB LCNFs did not show anti-microbial and anti-fungal properties of the films. The addition of amorphous LCNFs 0.5% into PVA/chitosan polymer blends resulted in regular and smooth external surfaces, enhanced tensile strength, increased crystallinity index, and enhanced thermal stability of the films.  相似文献

Bone-eating worms of the genus Osedax exclusively inhabit sunken vertebrate bones on the seafloor. The unique lifestyle and morphology of Osedax spp. have received much scientific attention, but the whole process of their development has not been observed. We herein report the postembryonic development and settlement of Osedax japonicus Fujikura et al. (Zool Sci 23:733–740, 2006). Fertilised eggs were spawned into the mucus of a female, and the larvae swam out from the mucus at the trochophore stage. Larvae survived for 10 days under laboratory conditions. The larvae settled on bones, elongated their bodies and crawled around on the bones. Then they secreted mucus to create a tube and the palps started to develop. The palps of O. japonicus arose from the prostomium, whereas the anterior appendages of other siboglinids arose from the peristomium. The recruitment of dwarf males was induced by rearing larvae with adult females. Females started to spawn eggs 6 weeks after settlement.  相似文献

The need for quality control of the complex micro-structure has been growing due to increased production of parts with complex 3D micro-scale features. However, wide use of 3D metrology of miniature parts is difficult due to the lack of cost-effective and precise probing system at the micro-scale. This paper introduces a new probing system using a wire-based probe and acoustic emission (AE)-based sensing method. The design of the probing system allows the size of the probe to be varied relatively easily. Repeatability of less than 1 μm has been achieved with the proposed probing system.  相似文献

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) was milled with hydrated or unhydrated calcium sulfates (CaSO4·2H2O or CaSO4) in air by using a planetary mill to investigate mechanochemical dechlorination behavior. The milling process resulted in size reduction and in the breaking of bonds leading to mechanically induced solid state reaction, forming CaCl2 and dechlorinated hydrocarbon with C=C double bonds in the product. Washing the milled mixtures with water at room temperature allowed removal of the chloride formed during milling, and more than 95% of the chlorine in PVC was removed from a mixture milled for 4 h. This process could offer a potential route for the handling and disposal of both PVC and gypsum wastes. H2S gas was generated during milling; more H2S was released from the unhydrated sample than from the hydrated sample.  相似文献

The amino acid sequence of a peptide containing an active serine was examined with poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) (PHB) depolymerase ofAlcaligenes faecalis T1. The sequence Cys-Asn-Ala-Trp-Ala-Gly-Ser-Asn-Ala-Gly-Lys was obtained. This amino acid sequence around the active serine does not fit any reported sequence of other esterases and proteases. On the other hand, a segment of the amino acid sequence of PHB depolymerase ofA. faecalis was homologous to the type III sequence of fibronectin. Similar sequences have been reported in some type of bacterial chitinase and cellulases, and PHB depolymerase seems to have an overall similarity to these bacterial extracellular hydrolases.  相似文献

High acidity rainwater has recently become an issue in environmental pollution because of its great influence on ecological systems with special reference to the human environment. To solve this problem, the chemical behaviors of various pollutants in the air, particularly in the wet atmosphere must be studied. Ion chromatography was used for rapid analysis of trace amounts of anions.As a result, it was found that a combination of 2mM Na2CO3 and 5mM NaOH as an eluent was suitable for the separation of various anions. The reproducibility of determination of anions in standard solutions was found to be satisfactory with a coefficient of variation (CV) of 2–4% for F?, Br?, NO?3, SO2?3, SO2?4, and PO3?4, but not for NO?2. The determination of NO?2 was accomplished by preparing an eluent having almost the same composition and cencentration as that of the standard and sample solutions. The precision of the method with rainwater samples was less than 10%, and was considered to be usable for data analysis.In addition, a considerable number of ions in rainwater samples could be determined by using 1–3 ml of the sample without pretreatment. It was found that ion chromatography was one of the best means to obtain information on the chemical behaviors of trace amounts of anions in rainwater.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was an evaluation of the effect levels of various toxic agents compared with acute doses of ionizing radiation for the experimental model ecosystem, i.e., microcosm mimicking aquatic microbial communities. For this purpose, the authors used the microcosm consisting of populations of the flagellate alga Euglena gracilis as a producer, the ciliate protozoan Tetrahymena thermophila as a consumer and the bacterium Escherichia coli as a decomposer. Effects of aluminum and copper on the microcosm were investigated in this study, while effects of gamma-rays, ultraviolet radiation, acidification, manganese, nickel and gadolinium were reported in previous studies. The microcosm could detect not only the direct effects of these agents but also the community-level effects due to the interspecies interactions or the interactions between organisms and toxic agents. The authors evaluated doses or concentrations of each toxic agent which had the following effects on the microcosm: (1) no effects; (2) recognizable effects, i.e., decrease or increase in the cell densities of at least one species; (3) severe effects, i.e., extinction of one or two species; and (4) destructive effects, i.e., extinction of all species. The resulting effects data will contribute to an ecological risk assessment of the toxic agents compared with acute doses of ionizing radiation.  相似文献

Vietnam is a tropical to subtropical country located on the eastern Asian coast where the Red (Song Hong) and Mekong rivers discharge into the sea. The catchments of these two transboundary rivers cover parts of six countries, and their water and sediment discharges greatly influence the coastal seas of Vietnam. The impact of human activities include changes in the supply and distribution of water, sediments, and nutrients; changes in the relationships and balance among dynamically interacting factors and processes; and changes in the quality of the coastal and marine environments due to the increased use and accumulation of pollutants and the loss of habitats. These impacts have resulted in increasing unpredictability and severity of coastal problems such as floods, erosion, sedimentation, and saltwater intrusion; environmental pollution; and the degradation of ecosystems, with accompanying decrease in biodiversity and fishery productivity.  相似文献
