相对于数量和品种都更为繁多的岩洞鱼类而言,地下水中的鱼类在世界上任何地方都较为稀少.这部分原因可能是由于知识的不完整,这是这些鱼类的生活环境极难为人类所探测的后果(Femandez和de Pinna,未发表资料).一般情况下在这种环境中对鱼的采样都是间接完成的,通过在天然水库或者自然水洞中投放诱捕器或者是从井中拉网捕鱼.Proudlove[1]"综合分析了地下水中鱼类的自然保护状态,发现这些鱼主要易受5种因素影响:生活环境恶化,水文条件人为变动,环境污染,过度捕捞,及外来品种入侵.由于这些鱼生活在较小的区域,而且数量较少,因此任何危害都会产生严重后果.一些种类已经受到关注和保护,而大部分却没有.  相似文献

Environmental levels and detailed congener profiles (31 congeners and 3 coeluting congener groups) of polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) were assessed in a number of biota samples taken over a large geographic range covering harbours and industrial sites on Canada's West Coast. Additionally, PBDE congener profiles were determined using semipermeable membrane devices (SPMDs) deployed in the Fraser River, the river in Western Canada with the largest industrial activity. PBDE levels detected in biota were between 4 and 2300 ng/g lipid and these levels were compared with those reported in selected European biota to provide a wider perspective on PBDE contamination on Canada's West Coast. Thirteen-congener PBDE patterns in the environmental samples were examined using principal component analysis (PCA), and additionally, comparisons were made between the PBDE profiles in the sample groups and commercially used PBDE technical mixtures (e.g., Bromkals) on a percent composition basis. PCA on congener specific data revealed that PBDE patterns are remarkably similar over a wide geographical range in Western Canada, however, the general pattern in environmental samples varies significantly from those of the predominant technical mixtures. Finally, correlations between PBDE and other persistent and toxic co-occurring contaminants found in Dungeness crab were determined.  相似文献

Polybromodiphenyl ethers (PBDEs) and polybromobiphenyls (PBBs) were investigated in adipose tissue of women living in Southeastern Spain. Mean Sigma PBDE (BDE 28, 75, 71, 47, 66, 77, 100, 119, 99, 85, 154, 153, 138, and 183) and Sigma PBB (PBB 18, 29, 31, 22, 38, 37, 53, 52, 49, 75, 80, 56, 77, 103, 101, 155, 154, 153, and 169) levels were 3.85 and 0.36 ng/g of lipid, respectively. Among PBDEs, congeners 153, 47, 183, 99, and 100 were the most frequent and abundant and together constituted 96% of the total amount of PBDEs in adipose tissue. Concentrations of PBDEs in this population were similar to those reported in other parts of Spain and in Swedish and Belgium populations but lower than those found in other Western countries. Among PBB congeners studied, PBB 153 presented the highest concentrations and contributed 79% of all PBBs. There are no published data on PBB congeners in adipose tissues of the Spanish population for comparison, but the levels found were similar to those described in other European countries. Further research is needed to determine trends in human exposure to PBDEs and PBBs and to explore putative effects on human health.  相似文献

Swine sewage could be source of nutrients and pollutants. This work estimates the environmental risk in nine samples from different farm treatment systems based on the evaluation of their effects in Daphnia magna acute test, and on the assessment of Cu, Zn and ammonia as main contributors. NH3 and Cu were responsible for LC50 results (1-5% of dilution). Organic compounds were quantified through several extraction methods (SPMDs, SPE and solvent extraction). A more exhaustive extraction was performed in an additional sample, which showed indole and phenol recoveries much higher than the previous ones. This method also includes PCBs (430 ppb) and fatty acids (approximately =150 ppm) quantification.  相似文献

Analyses of U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification data, California Air Resources Board surveillance testing data, and EPA research testing data indicated that EPA's MOBILE6.2 emission factor model substantially underestimates emissions of gaseous air toxics occurring during vehicle starts at cold temperatures for light-duty vehicles and trucks meeting EPA Tier 1 and later standards. An unofficial version of the MOBILE6.2 model was created to account for these underestimates. When this unofficial version of the model was used to project emissions into the future, emissions increased by almost 100% by calendar year 2030, and estimated modeled ambient air toxics concentrations increased by 6-84%, depending on the pollutant. To address these elevated emissions, EPA recently finalized standards requiring reductions of emissions when engines start at cold temperatures.  相似文献

Diel molting cycles of megalopae and first instar Dungeness crabs Cancer magister Dana captured in the Grays Harbor estuary (46° 55N; 124° 05 W) in May 1991 were studied under laboratory conditions. Sixtyone percent of the megalopae and 76% of the first instar crabs molted during periods of ambient darkness under a normal light — dark diel regime, and molting pattern was not affected by changes in the photoperiod (24 h daylight or 24 h darkness). Time until metamorphic molt increased as conspecific density increased. Habitat type (shell or mud) did not affect time until molt of megalopae and first instar crabs, nor did it affect daily molting rhythm of first instars. We hypothesize that nightly ecdysis of megalopae and first instar Dungeness crabs and density-dependent molting may be an adaptive response to predation and cannibalism among young-of-the-year.Contribution No. 875 from the School of Fisheries, WH-10, University of Washington, Seattle, Washington  相似文献

The Russian natural gas industry is the world's largest producer and transporter of natural gas. This paper aims to characterize the methane emissions from Russian natural gas transmission operations, to explain projects to reduce these emissions, and to characterize the role of emissions reduction within the context of current GHG policy. It draws on the most recent independent measurements at all parts of the Russian long distance transport system made by the Wuppertal Institute in 2003 and combines these results with the findings from the US Natural Gas STAR Program on GHG mitigation options and economics.With this background the paper concludes that the methane emissions from the Russian natural gas long distance network are approximately 0.6% of the natural gas delivered. Mitigating these emissions can create new revenue streams for the operator in the form of reduced costs, increased gas throughput and sales, and earned carbon credits. Specific emissions sources that have cost-effective mitigation solutions are also opportunities for outside investment for the Joint Implementation Kyoto Protocol flexibility mechanism or other carbon markets.  相似文献

The paired catchment study at the forested Bear Brook Watershed in Maine (BBWM) U.S.A. documents interactions among short- to long-term processes of acidification. In 1987–1989, runoff from the two catchments was nearly identical in quality and quantity. Ammonium sulfate has been added bi-monthly since 1989 to the West Bear catchment at 1800 eq ha-1 a-1; the East Bear reference catchment is responding to ambient conditions. Initially, the two catchments had nearly identical chemistry (e.g., Ca2+, Mg2+, SO4 2-, and alkalinity ≈82, 32, 100, and 5 μeq L-1, respectively). The manipulated catchment responded initially with increased export of base cations, lower pH and alkalinity, and increased dissolved Al,NO3 - and SO4 2-. Dissolved organic carbon and Si have remained relatively constant. After 7 yr of treatment, the chemical response of runoff switched to declining base cations, with the other analytes continuing their trends; the exports of dissolved and particulate Al, Fe, and P increased substantially as base cations declined. The reference catchment has slowly acidified under ambient conditions, caused by the base cation supply decreasing faster than the decrease of SO4 2, as pollution abates. Export of Al, Fe and, P is mimicking that of the manipulated watershed, but is lower in magnitude and lags in time. Probable increasing SO4 2- adsorption caused by acidification has moderated the longer-term trends of acidification of both watersheds. The trends of decreasing base cations were interrupted by the effects of several short-term events, including severe ice storm damage to the canopy, unusual snow pack conditions, snow melt and rain storms, and episodic input of marine aerosols. These episodic events alter alkalinity by5 to 15 μeq L-1 and make it more difficult to determine recovery from pollution abatement.  相似文献

Human settlement into rural areas (counterurbanization) is generating new patterns of reforestation, with distinctive features compared to the previously considered pathways of forest transition through “economic development” and “forest scarcity”. Here, we discuss the specific features of this neglected pathway of forest recovery and describe the process with the support of study cases around the world. This pathway includes specific motivations (e.g., natural amenities, outdoor recreation), particular socio-economic processes, conflicts between newcomers and locals, and specific ecological outcomes (e.g., a larger proportion of non-native species in the new forests). Although this pathway locally affects small areas, as a widespread and expanding process around the world, counterurbanization could have a growing global effect, with the potential to modify biodiversity, ecosystem services, and cultural values. Community and park planners have made improvements to the built environment in order to positively influence health outcomes. An important component of improving the built environment includes engaging community members in the planning process. Yet, attempts to include community members have not always been successful, as the case of Latinos living in the U.S. demonstrates (e.g. Rowel, Sheikhattari, Barber, and Evans-Holland. 2012. “Introduction of a Guide to Enhance Risk Communication among Low-income and Minority Populations: A Grassroots Community Engagement Approach.” Health Promotion Practice 13 (1): 124–132; Schulz 2006). The limited engagement among Latinos has been explained by their low-income and ethnic status, which prioritises employment and family matters, respectively. Consequently, the purpose of this study was to examine community engagement among Latinos of Mexican descent. Specifically, the research objective for the study was to identify the specific strategies and tactics utilised by a grassroots nonprofit organisation to engage Latino residents to advocate for more equitable green space in their neighbourhood. In addressing the research question, the study utilised a case-study approach focused on Chicago’s Little Village neighbourhood. Data were collected via individual interviews and the information was gathered through historical and archival documents, websites, and participant observations during community meetings. Findings revealed that community organizing, democratic leadership, and an anti-racist stance were instrumental in engaging residents.  相似文献
