The data presented in this paper emphasize that the behavior and fate of pesticides in the environment is influenced by humic substances. Various methods most frequently used for the characterization of humic substances are discussed. Both humic acid and fulvic acid can solubilize in water certain organic compounds and are important carriers of some pesticides in soil. Humic substances have the potential for promoting the nonbiological degradation of many pesticides. Several methods of bleaching humus color from drinking water, including chlorination, ozonation, and UV-radiation, are described. Finally, the photochemical stability to UV-radiation of certain pesticides in aqueous fulvic acid solution is discussed. 相似文献

In this study, N-doped porous carbons were produced with commercial phenolic resin as the raw material, urea as the nitrogen source and KOH as the activation agent. Different from conventional carbonization-nitriding-activation three-step method, a facile two-step process was explored to produce N-incorporated porous carbons. The as-obtained adsorbents hold superior CO2 uptake, i.e. 5.01 and 7.47 mmol/g at 25?°C and 0?°C under 1 bar, respectively. The synergistic effects of N species on the surface and narrow micropores of the adsorbents decide their CO2 uptake under 25?°C and atmospheric pressure. These phenolic resin-derived adsorbents also possess many extremely promising CO2 adsorption features like good recyclability, quick adsorption kinetics, modest heat of adsorption, great selectivity of CO2 over N2 and outstanding dynamic adsorption capacity. Cheap precursor, easy preparation strategy and excellent CO2 adsorption properties make these phenolic resin-derived N-doped carbonaceous adsorbents highly promising in CO2 capture. 相似文献

CuO nanomaterials were synthesized by a simple solution phase method using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide(CTAB) as a surfactant and their photocatalytic property was determined towards the visible-light assisted degradation of Reactive Black-5 dye. A detailed mechanism for the formation of CuO nanostructures has been proposed.The effect of various experimental parameters such as catalyst amount, dye concentration,p H and oxidizing agent on the dye degradation efficiency was studied. About 87% dye was degraded at p H 2 in the presence of CuO nanosheets under visible light. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of CuO nanosheets can be ascribed to good crystallinity, grain size,surface morphology and a strong absorption in the visible region. An adjusted two-stage sampling procedure is discussed for adaptive cluster sampling where some networks are large and others are small. A two-stage sample is drawn from the large networks and a single-stage sample is drawn from the rest. The simple random sampling (SRS) procedure without replacement is used at the initial stage. Respiration as a function of oxygen concentration was studied in two species of intertidal barnacles: Balanus amphitrite amphitrite
1 (Darwin) and B. tintinnabulum tintinnabulum (L.). A critical oxygen tension was observed in both species below which the respiratory regulation broke down. In B. amphitrite amphitrite the critical oxygen tension was 2.5 ml O2/l, and in B. tintinnabulum tintinnabulum 3.5 ml O2/l. Species differences and habitat relations were observed in both species in their respiratory adaptation to oxygen concentration. B. amphitrite amphitrite which inhabits oxygen-deficient areas was able to regulate to much lower concentrations than B. tintinnabulum tintinnabulum which inhabits oxygen-rich open intertidal regions. 相似文献

Experimental evidence indicates that there is a significant departure of the wind profile above the underlying surface consisting of patches of solid and liquid parts, and plant communities with different morphological from that predicted by the logarithmic relationship, which gives the values larger than those observed. This situation can seriously affect the transfer of momentum, heat and water vapor from the surface fluxes into the atmosphere.The object of this paper is to generalize the calculation of the exchange of momentum between the atmosphere and a very heterogeneous surface, find a general equation for the wind speed profile in a roughness sublayer under neutral conditions, and, then, derive aggregated roughness length and displacement height over the grid cell. The suggested expression for the wind profile is compared with some earlier approaches, using a common parameterization of aerodynamic parameters over the grid cell, and the observations obtained at an experimental site in Philadelphia, PA. 相似文献

Concentrations of Ca, Mg, K, Na, Cu, Zn, Al, Fe and Mn were measured in soils and in Tamarix nilotica from Wadi Allaqi on the shore of Lake Nasser in the Eastern Desert of Egypt. All of the elements were concentrated in the leaves of Tamarix relative to the stems and roots. Leaf:soil concentration ratios, used as an indicator of metal accumulation in the plant, showed high enrichment factors for Na (67.5), K (63.0) and Mg (35.0); of the trace elements measured, Zn had the highest enrichment factor (7.64). Comparison with other desert species suggested that Tamarix was exceptional only in the accumulation of sodium. Periodic inundation of the soil by Lake Nasser caused dilution and dispersion of the accumulated salts. 相似文献

The rate of filtering Phaeodactylum tricornutum and Isochrysis galbana was measured in Hiatella arctica (L.) by the indirect suspension depletion method monitored by optical density measurement. The filtration rate of H. arctica was found to be 1.412×10–2 l/h/g wet weight at a temperature of 15°C when fed with P. tricornutum, at average cell concentrations up to 3.5×106 cells/ml. The filtration rate dropped almost to zero when the concentration of P. tricornutum reached 11×106 cells/ml. The filtration rate of I. galbana diminished at a much lower cell concentration of 1×106 cells/ml, and almost ceased at 3 to 4×106 cells/ml. In mixed cultures of I. galbana and P. tricornutum, the filtration rate ratio was 0.37 to 1.00, and this was believed to be due to a proportion of the smaller former cells passing through the ostia. However, when resuspended in sea water, I. galbana cells were taken at a rate slightly less than P. tricornutum. The medium in which the I. galbana cells had been grown was inhibitory to the filtering activity of H. arctica, since, when cells of either alga were resuspended in the medium, the filtration rate was considerably reduced. No inhibitory factor existed in either of the original nutrient media. Hence, the importance of using low cell concentrations and of eliminating any inhibitory metabolic products when measuring filtration rates of bivalves is stressed. H. arctica shows a typical activity temperature eurve for a boreo-arctic species, with a steady rise from 0°C to a maximum between 15° and 17°C, and a sharp fall in activity to about zero at 25°C. The rates of filtration of various species at temperatures approaching the optimum were compared after allowance was made for fall in filtration rate with increasing body weight. The results suggested that the Mytilacea had the highest filtration rates and that H. arctica possesses one of the lowest filtration rates recorded. 相似文献

Competitive adsorption of ethylbenzene (EB) and water on bentonite and of p-xylene (pXYL) and water on kaolin and silica gel was studied using a technique that allowed the amount of adsorbed water and alkylbenzene to be measured independently. EB adsorption on bentonite was not affected by water at relative humidities (RH) near 0.23 but was reduced significantly at RH's near 0.50. pXYL adsorption on kaolin and silica gel decreased with increasing RH, especially above a RH of about 0.2. Increasing RH not only decreased the amount of alkylbenzene adsorption but also resulted in a change from Type-II adsorption isotherms to ones that were essentially linear. Linear isotherms for the adsorption of hydrophobic organic compounds on hydrated soil have generally been attributed to partitioning into organic carbon (OC). However, since the clays and oxide used here had very low to trace amounts of OC, it is suggested that processes involving only mineral surfaces can give rise to linear isotherms. Based on solubility considerations alone, partitioning of EB and pXYL into adsorbed water films was not considered to be an important adsorption mechanism in this study. The effect of cation hydration on the amount of water adsorbed from a mixture of water and pXYL vapors was evaluated by comparing adsorption on Li- and Na-saturated kaolin. 相似文献

The application of a solvophobic approach for predicting the sorption of hydrophobic organic compounds (HOC) was evaluated with data collected using synthetic sorbents and soils. The experimental data consisted of batch equilibrium sorption coefficients (KD), as well as soil-TLC and reversed-phase liquid chromatographic (RPLC) retention factors (κ′). All data were collected using aqueous solutions and binary or ternary solvent mixtures of water, methanol, acetone, and acetonitrile. As predicted by the theory, the chromatographic retention factors and sorption coefficients for HOC decreased log-linearly with increasing fraction of organic cosolvent in binary solvents. Model parameters estimated from the binary solvent data could be used to predict sorption (or retention) from ternary solvents. Reasonable agreement was found between model parameters reported in the literature and those estimated using the data from batch sorption, soil-TLC, and RPLC studies. 相似文献
