Although the flow dynamics of pure liquid drops in other liquids has been well researched, little attention has been paid to the impacts of impurities. Hence, most of research is not directly applicable to the real world. To address this gap, we conducted numerical experiments simulating the rise of pure and contaminated drops. It was selected to study liquid CO2 drops contaminated with SO2 under high pressure because such mixtures mimic potential scenarios in which drops may leak from carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities or pipelines. First, numerical simulation experiments were performed to validate our method by comparing our results with previous research on pure drops. Second, the validated numerical approach was applied to simulations of contaminated drops to investigate how contaminants affect rising drops. The results show that the SO2 contamination caused changes in deformation, breakup phenomena, rising velocities, surrounding flow fields and drag coefficients. Most importantly, the contamination resulted in the formation of smaller “child drops”; such breakup is not observed in pure CO2 drops. The formation of child drops in turn affects the streamlines, patterns and areas of wakes behind the contaminated drops. The addition of contaminants also enhances the dissolution rate, which is affected by the contaminant concentration and by the flow dynamics of the rising drop. Polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) content from seven commercial waterpipe charcoals were determined during the smoking process to estimate how much PAHs would not be trapped by the water trap and could reach the lungs of the smokers. Naphthalene, 2-methylnaphthalene, acenaphthylene, acenaphthene, phenanthrene and fluoranthene were the most abundant PAH compounds produced during smoking. Naphthalene was the highest in all of the smoke contents and levels of 5 to 405 μg/15 minutes could be inhaled by the smoker. The amounts of PAHs produced during the smoking events in absence of tobacco varied greatly among different brands of charcoal. The amount and composition of the emitted PAH were not related to the amount and composition of the original chemicals in the charcoal prior to burning. Our findings suggest that public health agencies should regulate smoked charcoal products alongside tobacco. 相似文献

采用氯碱工业的含镁盐泥对直接染料废水进行脱色处理.以直接大红、直接深蓝和直接黑3种直接染料水溶液作为模拟染料废水,考察了盐泥活化温度、盐泥用量等对脱色效果的影响,重点分析了吸附动力学特征,并对盐泥的循环再生利用进行了初步考察.经400℃煅烧活化的盐泥对直接大红、直接深蓝和直接黑3种直接染料均有很高的脱色效果,直接大红、直接深蓝和直接黑3种染料在盐泥吸附剂上的吸附动力学过程符合拟二级动力学方程,20 min左右时,吸附接近平衡.饱和吸附的盐泥经过煅烧后可以循环使用.研究结果为盐泥的综合利用提供了一种新途径. 相似文献

French colonization (1860–1945), Indochina (1945–1954) and Viêt-Nam’s Wars (1961–1975) illustrate during nearly one century, the use of the littoral at “strategic” ends (commercial and military). The discovery of the coasts of Cochinchina allowed the conquest of new grounds and the progressive development of the primarily alluvial plains. The mangrove forests in the South Viêt-Nam are the witnesses of a destruction then of a cicatrization of the landscapes. A progressive dynamics and a reconquest of formerly bombarded lands, intensely defoliated, set up themselves. We can speak about “rebirth” because it is possible to see, rebuild this dynamics as from one moment “zero” (war) and to compare with the evolution of the current vegetable formations, using Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems (GIS). These devasted landscapes were transformed into a success, by positive effect of the rehabilitation of the coasts. Finally, the possible reconquest of the littoral by the plants is due to the great capacity of nature to be regenerated. 相似文献
