The wetlands play an important role in carbon storage, especially at high latitudes, at which they store nearly one-third of global soil carbons. However, few studies have investigated the emissions of CO(2), CH(4) and N(2)O in the long-term, especially effects of freeze-thaw cycles on these gases emissions in freshwater marsh ecosystems. In this paper, we collected greenhouse gas emission data from a freshwater marsh area in China for 4 years, evaluated their release variables and speculated on their potential atmospheric impact. For this paper, we report on the CO(2), CH(4) and N(2)O emission rates recorded from June 2002 to November 2005 in the Sanjiang Plain of northeast China. We measured their interannual variations and fluctuations, as well as factors affecting their emissions, and estimated their regulation and freeze-thaw cycle impacts. Our results revealed obvious CO(2) and CH(4) emission fluctuations during the winter months, and during the freeze-thaw cycle, and a strong interannual variation during the growing season. Overall, we documented a close relationship between the CO(2) and CH(4) emissions, implicating some regulatory commonality. We determined that the marsh was a N(2)O sink during the winter, but a significant source of N(2)O during the freeze-thaw cycle as the temperature increased, especially in early summer. During the thaw-freeze period, the N(2)O levels were positively correlated with the water depth. In this study, the feasibility of applying a magnetotactic bacterial isolate (MTB), Stenotrophomonas sp. to the removal of Au(III) was investigated. Biosorption experiments showed that Au(III) biosorption capacity exhibited no significant difference in the initial pH range of 1.0-5.5, while decreased more significantly in the initial pH range of 5.5-13.0. Langmuir isotherm indicated that the maximum Au(III) biosorption capacity of Stenotrophomonas sp. were 506, 369 and 308 mg g(-1) dry weight biomass at the initial pH values of 2.0, 7.0 and 12.0, respectively. Thiourea was proved to be an effective desorbent to recover Au from the MTB biomass and 91% Au adsorbed on the biomass could be recovered at equilibrium when the thiourea concentration was 0.8M. The magnetic separator developed by our research team used for separating Au loaded MTB biomass showed high separation efficiency, with 100% biomass removed at the magnetic intensity of 1200 Gs in 180 min. The analyses from FTIR and XRD further confirmed that the reduction of Au(III) to Au(0) by the reductants on the MTB biomass occurred, and the deposition of nano-crystal Au(0) particles, ranging from 24.7 to 31.4 nm, could be estimated on the biomass surface. 相似文献

In southern China revegetation and ecological restoration of many abandoned Mn tailings has become a major concern. To determine the major constraints for plant establishment and evaluate the feasibility of remediation, a comparative study was conducted on Mn tailings and rhizosphere soils at the boundary of the tailings pond. Both tailings and rhizosphere soils had neutral to slightly alkaline pH and normal electrical conductivity. They were both enriched with organic matter (6.8-9.2%), total N (1.77-5.94 g kg(-1)), available P (41.78-73.83 mg kg(-1)) and K (146.7-906.9 mg kg(-1)), suggesting the tailings were a nutrient rich substrate for revegetation. Mn tailings were clay textured, while rhizosphere soils were silty loam or clay loam. The compaction and anoxic nature of Mn tailings were considered to be the major constraints for plant establishment. Total Mn (31903 mg kg(-1)), Cd (119 mg kg(-1)), Cu (126 mg kg(-1)) and Zn (2490 mg kg(-1)) in tailings were all at phytotoxic levels, but did not differ significantly from those in rhizosphere soils. In both tailings and rhizosphere soils, percentages of water- and DTPA-extractable metals were less than 1% and 2% of the total metal pools, respectively. Sequential extraction revealed that the majority of Mn, Cu and Zn were associated with the residual fraction, while the majority of Cd occurred as Fe-Mn oxides. The natural succession of plants around Mn tailings formed a distinctive metal-tolerant plant community, mainly comprising nine species such as Cynodon dactylon and Humulus scandens and so on. The Yellow River, the second largest river in China, is the most important resource of water supply in North China. In the
last 40 years, even in the upper Yellow River, with the development of industry and agriculture, more and more contaminants
have been discharged into this river and greatly polluted the water. Although a routine chemical component analysis has been
performed, little is known about the real toxic effects of the polluted water on organisms at environmental level. To explore
whether the pollutants induced oxidative stress and damage to aquatic organisms, malondialdehyde (MDA) level and activities
of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx) and glutathione S-transferase (GST) in hepatopancreas,
kidney and intestine of the field-collected carp Cyprinus carpio from a mixed polluted (Lanzhou Region, LZR) and a relatively unpolluted (Liujiaxia Region, LJXR) sites of the upper Yellow
River were measured. The results showed that when the values of LZR compared with those of LJXR, SOD and GST activities increased
and GPx activity decreased significantly in all the three organs (P < 0.05–0.01); CAT activity decreased but MDA level increased significantly (P < 0.05–0.01) only in kidney and intestine. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that the pollutants can induce
obvious oxidative damage in the carp, and the SOD, GST and GPx might be better indicators for the oxidative damage in aquatic

The Natural Vegetation Responses to the Groundwater Change Resulting from Ecological Water Conveyances to the Lower Tarim River 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
This paper takes the ecological water conveyance project (EWCP) that transfers water from the Bosten Lake, to Daxihaizi Reservoir, and finally to the Taitema Lake as a case study to analyze
the dynamic change of the groundwater depth, the vegetation responses to the elevation of the groundwater depth as well as
the relationship between the groundwater depth and the natural vegetation. The results from many years’ monitoring in field
indicate: (1) the groundwater depth has been elevating gradually with the increase in the times of watering and the elevation
range has been expanding continuously in the lower reaches of Tarim River. Correspondingly, the natural vegetation has a favorable
response to the elevation of the groundwater depth. The change of the natural vegetation has accordance with that of the groundwater
depth. Such facts not only show that groundwater is a key factor to the growth of the native vegetation but also prove it
is feasible that the degraded ecosystem can be restored and protected by the EWCP; (2) the results of analysis of the spatial-temporal response of the natural vegetation to watering reveals that the beneficial
influence of the EWCP on the ecosystem in the lower Tarim River is a long-term process; (3) in terms of the function and structure of ecosystem
after watering in the lower reaches of Tarim River, the EWCP does not still reach the goal of ecological restoration at a large spatial scale at present. Based on such monitoring results,
some countermeasures and suggestions for the future restoration strategy are proposed so as to provide a theoretical basis
for restoring and protecting the ecosystem in Tarim River, and meanwhile it can also provide some scientific references for

Genotoxicity potential of soils taken from wastewater irrigation areas and bioremediation sites was assessed using the Vicia faba root tip micronucleus assay. Twenty five soils were tested, of which 8 were uncontaminated soils and taken as the control to examine the influence of soil properties; 6 soils were obtained from paddy rice fields with a history of long-term wastewater irrigation; 6 soils were obtained from bioremediation sites to examine effects of bioremediation; and 5 PAH-contaminated soils were used to examine methodological effects between direct soil exposure and exposure to aqueous soil extracts on micronuclei (MN) frequency ( per thousand) in the V. faba root tips. Results indicate that soil properties had no significant influences on MN frequencies (p > 0.05) when soil pH varied between 3.4 to 7.6 and organic carbon between 0.4% and 18.6%. The MN frequency measured in these control soils ranged from 1.6 per thousand to 5.8 per thousand. MN frequencies in soils from wastewater irrigation areas showed 2- to 48-fold increase as compared with the control. Soils from bioremediation sites showed a mixed picture: MN frequencies in some soils decreased after bioremediation, possibly due to detoxification; whereas in other cases remediated soils induced higher MN frequencies, suggesting that genotoxic substances might be produced during bioremediation. Exposure to aqueous soil extracts gave a higher MN frequency than direct exposure in 3 soils. However, the opposite was observed in the other two soils, suggesting that both exposure routes should be tested in case of negative results from one route. Data obtained from this study indicate that the MN assay is a sensitive assay suitable for evaluating genotoxicity of soils. 相似文献

Mineralization of C.I. Reactive Yellow 84 in aqueous solution by sonolytic ozonation 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The operational parameters and mechanism of mineralization of C.I. Reactive Yellow 84 (RY84), one of the azo dyes, in aqueous solution were investigated using sonolytic ozonation (US/O(3) oxidation). Of the pseudo-first-order degradation rate constants of TOC reduction, 9.0 x 10(-4), 7.3 x 10(-3) and 1.8 x 10(-2)min(-1) were observed with US, O3, and a combination of US and O3, respectively. These results illustrate that ozonation combined with sonolysis for removal of TOC is more efficient than ozonation alone or ultrasonic irradiation alone without considering the operating costs. With the initial pH value at 10.0, the ozone dose at 4.5 g h(-1), the energy density of ultrasound at 176 W l(-1), and the initial concentration of RY84 at 100 mg l(-1), the extent of mineralization measured as TOC loss was maximized. The variation of the concentrations of related ions (oxalate, formate, acetate, NO3(-), NO2(-), NH4(+), Cl(-), and SO4(2-)) during the reaction process was monitored. Other organic intermediates detected by GC/MS were N-methyleneaniline, phthalic acid, 4-hydroxyphthalic acid, isocyanatobenzene, aniline, 4-iminocyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-one, butene diacid and urea. 为了解静电净化技术对炒菜类餐饮废气的净化效果及随运行时间的变化,该研究选取一家典型餐饮企业对炒菜灶头进行废气净化改造,不定期现场跟踪检测净化设备使用前后颗粒物、非甲烷总烃(NMHC)和VOCs组分的浓度变化。结果表明,定期清洗维护状态下,静电净化设备对颗粒物净化效率变化范围为55.7%~97.3%,平均净化效率为85.9%,净化后平均排放浓度降至4.0 mg/m3,颗粒物净化效率稳定且达标;静电净化设备对NMHC的净化效率不稳定,总体净化效率低于25%,净化后NMHC的平均排放浓度为26.0 mg/m3,仍超过排放标准,其不是去除餐饮NMHC的有效手段,需要加装其他NMHC净化设备;在组分净化效率方面,各组分的净化效率变化和差异很大,这可能与餐饮企业排放过程风速湿度波动大,产生的污染物浓度组分不稳定以及静电净化器工作过程高压电源产生的臭氧等有关,需要进一步研究。 相似文献
