Despite the fact that coccolithophorids such as Emiliania huxleyi are suspected to play an important role in carbon-cycling, there are few data from which to deduce how these organisms may respond to CO2-induced global warming. the nitrogen and phosphorus nutrient physiology of these organisms, together with its interaction with photosynthesis, needs to be studied especially in connection with the selection for coccolith forming individuals and the quantity and quality of the CaCO3 deposited in the coccoliths. Without such data, it will not be possible to model the contributions that these microalgae may play in arresting the increase in levels of atmospheric CO2.  相似文献

岷江上游干旱河谷地区的植被恢复是目前急需解决的问题,小马鞍羊蹄甲(Bauhinia faberi var. microphylla)是干旱河谷地区的优势乡土灌木,并作为当地植被恢复过程中的重要备选物种,因而进行小马鞍羊蹄甲种群在土壤贫瘠的干旱河谷的养分限制研究十分必要。针对性地进行施肥将影响到小马鞍羊蹄甲幼苗存活、生长和定殖,而如何有效提高该物种的存活和生长速率对于干旱河谷植被恢复将具有重要的意义。采用野外调查与模拟实验相结合的方法,分别研究了干旱河谷地区3个典型群落(干旱河谷的核心区——飞虹,干旱河谷灌丛与亚高山森林的过渡区——北部的石大关、干旱河谷灌丛与温性森林的过渡区——南部的蓝新镇)中小马鞍羊蹄甲幼苗叶片的化学计量特征,和施肥试验[w(有效氮)分别为100、280、460 mg·kg–1、w(有效磷)分别为12、24、48 mg·kg–1、w(氮)分别为40、70、100 mg·kg–1、w(磷)分别为12和24 mg·kg–1]中叶片化学计量特征及幼苗生长参数(叶片数、基径和株高)和各器官(根茎叶)生物量。结果表明:在野外各演替阶段的小马鞍羊蹄甲幼苗生物量和营养元素质量分数都随着磷肥的增加而增加,表明磷素是植物生长的限制因子,同时N∶P比均大于16,也暗示其受到P养分的限制;在室内施肥试验中,施加N肥没有促进小马鞍羊蹄甲生物量的积累,反而抑制了幼苗生长;施加P肥促进了幼苗生物量的积累,表明幼苗缺乏P元素,养分限制类型为P限制。  相似文献

黄土丘陵区撂荒农田土壤酶活性及酶化学计量变化特征   总被引:9,自引:6,他引:3  
明确土壤胞外酶活性及酶化学计量比在农田撂荒过程中的变化特征及驱动因素,对揭示土壤养分可利用性随植被恢复的变化规律和阐明生态系统养分循环机制有重要意义.本文以黄土丘陵区不同撂荒年限坡耕地(0、10、20和30 a)为研究对象,通过测定土壤酶活性及酶计量比、土壤理化性质、植物多样性和科组成,探讨农田撂荒后土壤微生物养分限制状况及酶活性和酶计量比的主控因子.结果表明,β-1,4-N-乙酰氨基葡萄糖苷酶(NAG)、亮氨酸氨基肽酶(LAP)和碱性磷酸酶(ALP)的活性均随撂荒年限增加而显著增加,而β-1,4-葡萄糖苷酶(BG)活性则相反.土壤BG:(NAG+LAP)和BG:ALP呈现出与土壤BG活性相同的随撂荒年限增加而减小的趋势;而(NAG+LAP):ALP呈先升后降趋势,在撂荒20 a时达到最高值.酶化学计量的向量长度随撂荒年限增加而显著减小,表明撂荒过程中土壤微生物受碳(C)限制程度的减弱.撂荒前10 a酶化学计量的向量角度小于45°,后20 a大于45°,说明撂荒前期微生物受氮(N)限制,后期受磷(P)限制.冗余分析结果揭示土壤有机碳含量、总氮含量、C:N、C:P、pH以及植被多样性是调控酶活性和酶计量比变化的主要因子.分类变异分析表明,土壤和植物因素可解释不同撂荒年限下土壤酶活性及酶计量比差异的62.0%,植被特征与土壤理化特性之间的交互作用是土壤酶活性及酶计量比变化的主控因子,解释度为37.1%.综上所述,黄土丘陵区农田撂荒过程中应考虑外源P的投入以缓解生态系统中有效P的不足,研究结果可为理解脆弱生境恢复生态系统中微生物介导的生物地球化学循环机制以及指导土壤养分管理和生态可持续发展提供理论依据.  相似文献

In population modeling, a considerable level of complexity is often required to provide trustworthy results, comparable with field observations. By assuring sufficient detail at the individual level while preserving the potential to explore the consequences at higher levels, individual-based modeling may thus provide a useful tool to investigate dynamics at different levels of organization. Still, population dynamics resulting from such models are often at odds with observations from the field. This may be partly caused by a lack of focus on the individual dynamics under conditions of food stress and starvation. I developed a physiologically structured, individual-based simulation model to investigate life history of Daphnia and its effect on population dynamics in response to the productivity of the system. In verifying model behavior with available literature data on life history and physiology, I paid special attention to the dynamics of food intake and the verification of individual level results under conditions of food limitation and starvation. I show that the maximum filtering rates under low food levels used in the current model are much closer to measured filtering rates than the ones used in other models. Being consistent with results on physiology and life history from experiments at a wide range of food availability (including starvation), the model generates low amplitude or high amplitude population density cycles depending on the productivity of the system, as observed in field and experimental populations of Daphnia and with the minimum population densities being one to two orders of magnitude lower in the high amplitude than in the low amplitude cycles. To generate results which are not only qualitatively but also quantitatively comparable to experimental and field observations, however, a crowding effect on the filtering response has to be incorporated in the model.  相似文献

PROBLEM: This study evaluated injured construction workers' perceptions of workplace safety climate, psychological job demands, decision latitude, and coworker support, and the relationship of these variables to the injury severity sustained by the workers. METHODS: Injury severity was assessed using the Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ), which evaluates functional limitations. Worker perceptions of workplace variables were determined by two instruments: (a) the Safety Climate Measure for Construction Sites and (b) the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ). RESULTS: The overall model explained 23% of the variance in injury severity, with unique contributions provided by union status, the Safety Climate Score, and Psychological Job Demands. A positive significant correlation was found between injury severity and the Safety Climate Scores (r = .183, P = .003), and between the Safety Climate Scores and union status (r = .225, P < .001). DISCUSSION: There were statistically significant differences between union and nonunion workers' responses regarding perceived safety climate on 5 of the 10 safety climate items. Union workers were more likely than nonunion workers to: (a) perceive their supervisors as caring about their safety; (b) be made aware of dangerous work practices; (c) have received safety instructions when hired; (d) have regular job safety meetings; and (e) perceive that taking risks was not a part of their job. However, with regard to the 49-item JCQ, which includes Coworker Support, the responses between union and nonunion workers were very similar, indicating an overall high degree of job satisfaction. However, workers who experienced their workplace as more safe also perceived the level of management (r = -.55, P < .001) and coworker (r = -.31, P < .001) support as being higher. IMPACT ON INDUSTRY: The findings of this study underscore the critical need for construction managers to alert workers to dangerous work practices and conditions more frequently, and express concern and praise workers for safe work in a manner that is culturally acceptable in this industry. Workplace interventions that decrease the incidence and severity of injuries, but that are flexible enough to meet a variety of potentially competing imperatives, such as production deadlines and client demands, need to be identified.  相似文献

The phylogeny of Collembola, originally discussed from a morphological point of view, has more recently benefited from novel insights brought by molecular analyses. Both morphological and molecular characters produced a well-resolved phylogenetic hypothesis including all orders, most families, and a large number of genera. However, several conflicting points exist between molecular and morphological data, and new characters are clearly needed to resolve these inconsistencies. In this study the usefulness of a new character type not previously used in the phylogenetic study of Collembola was tested: the epicuticular chemical compounds. Our phylogenetic analysis was based on 380 compounds from 26 Collembola species. The results show good resolution for terminal branches but not for internal nodes. This is probably due to the partial involvement of epicuticular lipids in ecological functions such as water conservation and sexual attraction. Thus, this character type is appropriate for reconstructing phylogenetic relationships among recently diversified groups. Species-rich semi-natural grasslands have declined drastically in Europe over the last century and occur in modern landscapes as small and isolated fragments. Recreation of these species-rich plant communities and increasing connectivity of remaining grasslands are important goals for nature conservation. Ex-arable fields located adjacent to species-rich grasslands have been suggested as targets for such recreation, but we still lack knowledge about the processes determining colonization from grasslands to ex-arable fields. We examined transects from species-rich semi-natural grasslands to ex-arable fields in a nature reserve located in southeast Sweden, and analysed relationships between observed colonization of ex-arable fields and two characteristics of species: dispersal ability and recruitment ability. Colonization of ex-arable fields was not related to dispersal ability, assessed as adhesive potential to animal coat, wind dispersal potential and seed mass (related to seed production), but was positively related to recruitment ability, assessed by sowing experiment. The same relationships appeared when using a performance index from sowing experiments conducted in the UK. We conclude that recruitment ability is a key factor for colonization of ex-arable fields. In our study, around 50% of semi-natural grassland species were able to colonize adjacent ex-arable field margins spontaneously within a time window of less than 50 years. Seed sowing is however needed to increase the speed of the colonization process, because increasing seed density promotes colonization of species with poor recruitment in ex-arable fields. Actions to increase area and connectivity of species-rich grasslands should consider incorporating ex-arable fields.  相似文献

超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)和过氧化氢酶(CAT)是浮游植物抗氧化酶系统的重要组成部分,可有效消除因环境胁迫产生的活性氧自由基对细胞的损伤。本文通过研究氮磷比失衡状态下赤潮异弯藻和海洋卡盾藻的生长及其SOD与CAT酶活性的变化,探索了赤潮物种抗氧化酶对氮磷比失衡的响应。研究表明:N和P限制不仅抑制了赤潮异弯藻和海洋卡盾藻的生长,而且显著提高了SOD与CAT酶活性。酶活性对营养盐失衡的响应随营养盐类型和藻类种类不同而有所差异:赤潮异弯藻对P限制最为敏感,其SOD和CAT酶活性在P限制下显著高于N限制;而N限制和P限制对海洋卡盾藻抗氧化酶活性的影响并无差异。抗氧化酶活性的调控能够有效降低氮磷比失衡对藻类细胞的生理损伤,有利于藻华的发生和规模的维持。  相似文献
