The notion that the physical healthcare environment can affect our mood and behavior is well established. Despite this, individual differences in sensitivity to environmental stimuli have not received much attention. With the current research showing the importance of individual differences in sensitivity towards color, these may explain the contradictory effects found in color research. Two experiments focused on differences in environmental sensitivity, measured with stimulus screening ability. In both experiments, participants were presented with a scenario describing hospitalization with appendicitis and were exposed to a photo of a hospital room. The experiments tested the effects of environmental coloring of the hospital room (green and orange, both contrasted with white as a control condition), and the moderating role of stimulus screening ability (high-screeners vs. low-screeners) on stress (study 1) and arousal (study 2), and cognitive appraisals of the room (study 2). Stress-reducing effects of green and arousal-inducing effects of orange were both more pronounced for people scoring low on stimulus screening ability than for those who are able to effectively screen out complexity in the environment (high-screeners). 相似文献

随着炼制原油硫含量的增加,炼油装置的硫腐蚀问题也日益严重.针对硫高温腐蚀状况,用差热-热重分析仪研究硫与Fe(OH)3、Fe2O3和Fe3O4发生硫化腐蚀反应的初始温度,并采用X射线衍射仪鉴定了360 ℃高温无氧条件下硫化腐蚀产物的组成.结果表明,硫与Fe(OH)3、Fe2O3和Fe3O4发生硫化反应的初始温度分别为287.67 ℃、233.34℃和308.47 ℃;高温硫化腐蚀产物主要是FeS2.对硫化产物FeS2进行氧化反应,氧化升温曲线和耗氧曲线表明,硫化腐蚀产物FeS2具有很高的氧化自燃性,在一定条件下能引发油品火灾和爆炸等事故. 相似文献

为考察腐蚀参数的不确定性对埋地管道失效和剩余寿命的影响,建立以Shell—92确定性模型为基础的管道腐蚀剩余寿命预测概率模型。采用Monte-Carlo方法计算管道剩余寿命及其累积分布函数,并进行参数敏感性分析,详细研讨影响埋地管道腐蚀剩余寿命的主要参数及其随服役时间的变化规律。计算结果表明,提出的管道腐蚀剩余寿命预测模型能有效预测实际中受多因素影响的管道失效和剩余寿命问题。 相似文献

The main object of the study was the development of a long-term efficient and inexpensive in-situ immobilization technology for uranium (U) and arsenic (As) in smaller and decentralized groundwater discharges from abandoned mining processing sites. Therefore, corrosion of grey cast iron (gcFe) and nano-scale iron particles (naFe) as well as hydrogen stimulated autotrophic sulphate reduction (aSR) were investigated. Two column experiments with sulphate reducing bacterias (SRB) (biotic gcFe , biotic naFe) and one abiotic gcFe-column experiment were performed. In the biotic naFe column, no particle translocation was observed and a temporary but intensive naFe corrosion indicated by a decrease in E(h), a pH increase and H(2) evolution. Decreasing sulphate concentrations and (34)S enrichment in the column effluent indicated aSR. Fe(II) retention could be explained by siderite and consequently FeS precipitation by geochemical modeling (PhreeqC). U and As were completely immobilised within the biotic naFe column. In the biotic gcFe column, particle entrapment in open pore spaces resulted in a heterogeneous distribution of Fe-enriched zones and an increase in permeability due to preferential flow. However, Fe(II) concentrations in the effluent indicated a constant and lasting gcFe corrosion. An efficient immobilization was found for As, but not for U. 相似文献

The induction of stress-70 (Hsp70) in the blue mussels Mytilus edulis from southern Baltic after exposure to cadmium, lead and copper, administrated individually and/or as a mixture, was investigated by means of standard Western blotting using a clone 3A3 monoclonal antibody. The general course of the stress-70 induction was found to be similar for all tested metals. It could be characterised by three main features: (1) The induction of stress-70 proteins was only slightly increased at low metal concentration. (2) Strong induction of stress-70 occurred at high concentration of metals. Combination of metals (Cd+Cu) was found to increase the stress-70 level more intensely than related concentrations of singularly applied metals. (3) Five weeks of long depuration had no effect on stress-70 levels. Experiments revealed different induction of stress-70 as a response to cadmium, lead and copper exposure and confirm that the applied technique might serve as a versatile tool to assess invertebrate stress reaction to environmentally relevant heavy metals. 相似文献

Recently there has been anincreased environmental concern in severalcountries in Europe, in particular in Sweden andin the Netherlands regarding the amount of copperand zinc that is released from building materialsinto society. Due to lack of runoff data, thelegislators have so far used corrosion ratesmeasured during the last 20 years to calculatequantities of metal released from buildingsassuming that the quantity of metal corrosionequals the quantity of metal runoff. Withdecreasing levels of environmental pollutantsduring the last decade in Europe, it is importantto determine more recent and hence morerepresentative corrosion and runoff rates to beused in the calculations. For this reason a field exposure program was implemented during 48 weeks in an urbanatmosphere in Sweden determining corrosion andrunoff rates for copper and zinc of differentage. New copper exposed for 48 weeks in the urbanatmosphere shows a corrosion rate of 6.7gm-2y-1 and an almost constant runoff rate of1.3 gm-2y-1 during the period. Therunoff rate is significantly lower than thecorrosion rate and represents only a fraction(20%) of the total amount of corroded metalduring this period. Zinc shows a graduallydecreasing corrosion rate with time being 5.0gm-2y-1 after 48 weeks of exposure. Therunoff rate is relatively stable with an averagerate of 3.1 gm-2y-1 during the sameperiod. This value represents 60% of the totalamount of corroded zinc. The effect of panel age has been investigatedin parallel field and laboratory studies. Theresults show that naturally aged copper exhibitssomewhat higher average runoff rates (2 gm-2y-1) than new copper, probably due to acombined effect of storage and weatherconditions. No significant difference in runoffrate can be found between new and naturally agedzinc.
