Employees' beliefs about how promotions are awarded within their organizations can have important consequences. We conducted two studies that focus on perceptions of the criteria used to make promotion decisions. In Study 1, we identified two types of perceived promotion criteria, performance‐based and nonperformance‐based. Then we use justice and social exchange theories to develop a model linking employee perceptions of promotion criteria to performance via their relationships with promotional justice and organizational commitment. In a sample of 305 employee–supervisor pairs, we found that both promotional justice and organizational commitment mediated between perceptions of promotion criteria and supervisor rated in‐role and extra‐role performance, and that having received a promotion in the past predicted attributions that promotions were based relatively more on performance or nonperformance criteria. Study 2 further examined the role of promotions themselves in the formation of perceptions of promotion criteria. Drawing from image and attribution theories, we hypothesized that the relationship between having received a promotion or not and perceptions of promotion criteria depends on ego defensiveness. In a sample of 145 employees, we found that those who scored high on ego defensiveness and who had not been promoted were especially likely to attribute promotion decisions to nonperformance criteria. The Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) survey is a posture-sampling tool used specifically to examine the level of risk associated with upper limb disorders of individual workers. This paper examines the relationship between RULA’s postural scoring system and measures of surface electromyography (EMG), self-reports of discomfort, and job attitude questionnaires. Twenty participants each performed a 30-min typing task on a computer in 3 working postures based on RULA’s scoring system. A statistically significant difference was found only in perceived discomfort. The perceived discomfort results demonstrated that RULA was able to identify “high risk” postures. The next question we need to ask is, does perceived discomfort result in tissue damage, or does tissue damage yield discomfort?  相似文献

This is an introduction to a point/counterpoint exchange in Journal of Organizational Behavior on the negative versus positive sides of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Such behaviors go beyond the core tasks that individuals do on the job and are generally considered positive contributions that support organizations. Bolino, Klotz, Turnley, and Harvey cover the dark (negative) side of OCB, arguing that it can be performed for self‐serving motives and that it can have detrimental effects. They discuss the costs of performing OCB to the individuals who perform it, and potential negative consequences for organizations. Conversely, Spitzmuller and Van Dyne cover the light (positive) side, focusing on OCB as forms of either proactive or reactive helping behavior. Proactive helping is motivated by internal needs with the individual seeking out opportunities to engage in OCB. Reactive helping is an altruistic response to a perceived need by a colleague or the organization itself. Taken together, these two papers provide a comprehensive overview of the complex effects of OCB on actors who perform it and targets who receive it. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

为探讨秸秆、生物质炭施用对小麦-玉米轮作系统固碳减排效应,利用静态暗箱-气相色谱原位监测小麦-玉米轮作系统条件下秸秆、生物质炭施用对土壤CO_2、CH4和N_2O 3种温室气体排放、作物产量、土壤有机碳以及净增温潜势的影响.试验处理设置为:空白对照(CK)、常规施肥(F)、施肥并施用8 t·hm-2秸秆(FS)、施肥并施用8 t·hm-2生物质炭(FBlow)和施肥并施用16 t·hm-2生物质炭(FBhigh)共5个处理.结果表明:与F处理相比,FS、FBlow及FBhigh处理下小麦产量分别提高了30.9%、66.3%和36.6%;对于玉米产量而言,FS,CK及FBhigh处理下玉米产量分别降低了14.1%、18.0%和24.6%,但是FBlow处理下对玉米产量没有显著性的影响.与F处理相比,FS处理下土壤CO_2的年排放总量增加了60.2%,但是FBhigh处理下土壤CO_2的年排放总量减低了14.4%;生物质炭的施用降低了土壤N_2O的排放,与F处理相比,FBlow和FBhigh处理下分别减低了27.6%和38.7%,而秸秆的施用对N_2O的排放没有显著性的影响.总的来说,与F处理相比,FBlow和FBhigh处理下净增温潜势分别降低了24.13和58.44 t·hm-2,单位产量的净综合增温潜势分别降低了1.78和5.06 t·t-1.综上所述,对于小麦-玉米轮作体系而言,施用16 t·hm-2生物质炭可作为一种提高作物产量并降低净增温潜势的良好措施.  相似文献

This meta‐analysis builds upon a previous meta‐analysis by (1) including 65 per cent more studies that have over twice the sample size to estimate the relationships between emotional intelligence (EI) and job performance; (2) using more current meta‐analytical studies for estimates of relationships among personality variables and for cognitive ability and job performance; (3) using the three‐stream approach for classifying EI research; (4) performing tests for differences among streams of EI research and their relationships with personality and cognitive intelligence; (5) using latest statistical procedures such as dominance analysis; and (6) testing for publication bias. We classified EI studies into three streams: (1) ability‐based models that use objective test items; (2) self‐report or peer‐report measures based on the four‐branch model of EI; and (3) “mixed models” of emotional competencies. The three streams have corrected correlations ranging from 0.24 to 0.30 with job performance. The three streams correlated differently with cognitive ability and with neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. Streams 2 and 3 have the largest incremental validity beyond cognitive ability and the Five Factor Model (FFM). Dominance analysis demonstrated that all three streams of EI exhibited substantial relative importance in the presence of FFM and intelligence when predicting job performance. 危险源识别和风险评价工作是风险管理的基础环节,常用的危险源识别和风险评价方法有安全检查表、危险可操作性研究、故障模式分析、事故树、事件树、故障树分析等等。危险源识别和评价工作的目的是研究系统的可靠性,包括对系统要素本身可靠性研究和要素问协调性的研究。过去我们通常用安全检查表的方法来分析要素协调性的问题,由于影响要素作用的变量因素多,难以查找并建立统一的安全检查标准,这种方法的适用性并不高。相比而言,工作安全分析方法是一种对系统要素协调性作用变量进行细致深入分析的科学方法。本文通过引入工作分析、评价单元方法,结合职业健康安全管理理论最新成果,对传统的三过程工作安全分析模式进行完善,提出规范的四过程工作安全分析模式。同时,在施工现场领域对工作安全分析进行实践研究。  相似文献

A fundamentally revised version of the HERMES agro-ecosystem model, released under the name of MONICA, was calibrated and tested to predict crop growth, soil moisture and nitrogen dynamics for various experimental crop rotations across Germany, including major cereals, sugar beet and maize. The calibration procedure also included crops grown experimentally under elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration. The calibrated MONICA simulations yielded a median normalised mean absolute error (nMAE) of 0.20 across all observed target variables (n = 42) and a median Willmott's Index of Agreement (d) of 0.91 (median modelling efficiency (ME): 0.75). Although the crop biomass, habitus and soil moisture variables were all within an acceptable range, the model often underperformed for variables related to nitrogen. Uncalibrated MONICA simulations yielded a median nMAE of 0.27 across all observed target variables (n = 85) and a median d of 0.76 (median ME: 0.30), also showing predominantly acceptable results for the crop biomass, habitus and soil moisture variables. Based on the convincing performance of the model under uncalibrated conditions, MONICA can be regarded as a suitable simulation model for use in regional applications. Furthermore, its ability to reproduce the observed crop growth results in free-air carbon enrichment experiments makes it suited to predict agro-ecosystem behaviour under expected future climate conditions.  相似文献
