Atmospheric air pollution turbulent fluxes can be assumed to be proportional to the mean concentration gradient. This assumption,
along with the equation of continuity, leads to the advection-diffusion equation. Moreover, large eddies are able to mix scalar
quantities in a manner that is counter to the local gradient. We present a general solution of a two-dimension steady state
advection-diffusion equation, considering non-local turbulence closure using the General Integral Laplace Transform Technique.

This study investigated if atmospheric ammonia (NH3) pollution around a sheep farm influences the photosynthetic performance of the lichens Evernia prunastri and Pseudevernia furfuracea. Thalli of both species were transplanted for up to 30 days in a semi-arid region (Crete, Greece), at sites with concentrations of atmospheric ammonia of ca. 60 μg/m3 (at a sheep farm), ca. 15 μg/m3 (60 m from the sheep farm) and ca. 2 μg/m3 (a remote area 5 km away). Lichen photosynthesis was analysed by the chlorophyll a fluorescence emission to identify targets of ammonia pollution. The results indicated that the photosystem II of the two lichens exposed to NH3 is susceptible to this pollutant in the gas-phase. The parameter PIABS, a global index of photosynthetic performance that combines in a single expression the three functional steps of the photosynthetic activity (light absorption, excitation energy trapping, and conversion of excitation energy to electron transport) was much more sensitive to NH3 than the FV/FM ratio, one of the most commonly used stress indicators. 相似文献

Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs), polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDFs), and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (DL-PCBs) contained in the smoke generated from rice straw burning in post-harvest paddy fields in Japan were analyzed to determine their congener profiles. Both the apportionment of toxic equivalent (TEQ) by using indicative congeners and the comparison of the homolog profiles showed that the PCDDs/PCDFs/DL-PCBs present in the rice-straw smoke were greatly influenced by those present as impurities in pentachlorophenol (PCP) and chlornitrofen (CNP, 4-nitrophenyl-2,4,6-trichlorophenyl ether) formulations that had been widely used as herbicides in paddy fields in Japan. Further, in order to investigate the effects of paddy-field soil on the PCDDs/PCDFs/DL-PCBs present in rice-straw smoke, PCDD/PCDF/DL-PCB homolog profiles of rice straw, rice-straw smoke and paddy-field soil were compared. Rice-straw smoke was generated by burning rice straw on a stainless-steel tray in a laboratory. The results suggested that the herbicides-originated PCDDs/PCDFs/DL-PCBs and the atmospheric PCDDs/PCDFs/DL-PCBs contributed predominantly to the presence of PCDDs/PCDFs/DL-PCBs in the rice-straw smoke while the contribution of PCDDs/PCDFs/DL-PCBs formed during rice straw burning was relatively minimal. The major sources of the PCDDs/PCDFs/DL-PCBs found in the rice-straw smoke were attributed primarily to the paddy-field soil adhered to the rice straw surface and secondarily to the air taken by the rice straw. The principal component analysis supported these conclusions. It is concluded that rice straw burning at paddy fields acts as a driving force in the transfer of PCDDs/PCDFs/DL-PCBs from paddy-field soil to the atmosphere. 相似文献

Fungal spores are an important component of bioaerosol and also considered to act as indicator of the level of atmospheric bio-pollution. Therefore, better understanding of these phenomena demands a detailed survey of airborne particles.The objective of this study was to examine the dependence of two the most important allergenic taxa of airborne fungi - Alternaria and Cladosporium - on meteorological parameters and air pollutant concentrations during three consecutive years (2006-2008). This study is also an attempt to create artificial neural network (ANN) forecasting models useful in the prediction of aeroallergen abundance.There were statistically significant relationships between spore concentration and environmental parameters as well as pollutants, confirmed by the Spearman’s correlation rank analysis and high performance of the ANN models obtained. The concentrations of Cladosporium and Alternaria spores can be predicted with quite good accuracy from meteorological conditions and air pollution recorded three days earlier. 相似文献

In this study, the relation between sulfur dioxide (SO2) and particulate matter (PM) concentrations periodically measured in the city of Afyon’s atmosphere with meteorological factors
such as precipitation, humidity, temperature, wind velocity, and inversion were investigated. The mean values of SO2 and PM concentrations measured during the winter months of October–March 1990–1999 were correlated with the meteorological
parameters of the same period. Simple and multiple linear regression analysis were utilized to evaluate the contribution of
meteorological variables. The statistical results show that the pollutants, i.e., SO2 and PM are dependent upon humidity, temperature, and inversion at the 1% significance level; while the dependence of both
pollutants with temperature is negative when those of humidity and inversion are positive. Two models in which temperature
and inversion are dependent with multiple variables are recommended for predicting the contribution of meteorological parameters
on SO2 and PM. In addition, the relationship between humidity, temperature, and inversion with pollutants is also determined using

Two measurement campaigns were conducted in two sampling sites, An Thinh and Duy Minh, in northern Vietnam during the months
of November–December 2000 and November 2001–February 2002 in order to investigate the extend of the particulate air pollution
from the Pha Lai coal fired power plant. Fine particle samples were analyzed by Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence spectrometry
and soot samples were analyzed by reflectometer. The result showed that high concentration of soot and elements mostly coincided
with the air masses originating from the power plant. Sea spray aerosol was found to be the major source of chlorine at both
sites. Ratios of specific elements and principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that coal combustion was the main contributor
to the air pollution at both sites. PCA also indicated that there were other sources responsible for the elements emission,

Recent advances in both information and sensor technologies have enabled the development of Real Time Remote Monitoring (RTRM)
capabilities for environmental management. An online and real time remote monitoring system for air pollution has been designed
and installed at a traffic police station at Punjagutta in Hyderabad, India. The system is optimized using electrochemical
sensors and a real time particulate matter analyzer. The system also monitors meteorological parameters such as temperature,
humidity, rainfall, barometric pressure, wind speed and wind direction. The system periodically monitors both pollution and
meteorological parameters at pre- programmed intervals of hr during peak periods and 1 hr during non peak periods of the day and continuously uploads to a predestinated web site (www.appcb.org/home.htm)
using File Transfer Protocol. The web site renders a quick, simple and graphical display of air pollution levels and meteorological
parameters and their significance to humans. The present paper highlights design considerations of a pollution monitoring
system, system hardware and software requirements and practical limitations and future directions for real time remote monitoring
